Is this a design flaw?

Like where you have to drop down several sections, losing a portion of your health as you make your way down to the bottom in the
healing church workshop
on the bottom there's some
wolf-like creation near a door, he throws fire at you

Is this the way it supposed to be played?

Yes, you're playing it right.

Is there any way to start a new game with all the weapons unlocked? ( outside of NG+ )

I'd love to use this new weapon I found at the beginning of the game. Just because I was to run through the game using every type of weapon eventually.

Feeling like a badass, took down
Vicar Amelia
last night on the second attempt.
This may seem like a small victory to others who have progressed further but man it felt good!

A Question:

I have heard rumors that after killing
Vicar Amelia
that a side quest will open involving
Eileen
. I accidentally hit
her
at the beginning of the game and
she
went all aggro on me when I went back. Have I shot myself in the foot on this quest line?

You can
drop down out of his aggro range, safely bloodvial up, and walk slowly towards his turned back for a charged R2

I was looking to do that, you should be able to back stab him by holding down the R2 button then hit R1 right after, but a from the few times I dropped down there, I landed on some barrels and got his attention.

I'm using the kirkhammer now. I think I'm going to retire axe. It done its time, was very useful, like holding R2 to charge and then unleashing a sweeping attack that can take out many enemies.

Any idea how to activate the hat DLC for the messengers? I tried to look for the option in Hunter's Dream area and in the menu to no avail.

Halp!

Yep. That part was very reminiscent of the path to
Flame Lurker
in Demon's Souls.

Coop has been working so flawlessly in my new playthrough that I've spent the last two days just helping people clear bosses. Eventually I'll have to move on but multiplayer is a total blast in Souls when it actually works. I get summoned only seconds after I ring the bell now.

I love the COOP too.

Sadly yes. You can kill her to get the items pertaining to trophies but you've missed some other stuff you get along the way(gestures mostly).

M
icolash
down. Wonder how close I am to beating the game at this point.

Very.

Nightmare of Mensis
holy fuck... O_o

Yea that place is on some other shit. I was trying to describe it without spoiling it to my pals who are still on the 4th-5th boss areas and was just like "well, uh, its pretty much the twilight zone meets underworld meets a literal fucking nightmare"
