Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

Yeah, you have to be close enough to bait an attack that leaves her head vulnerable, but far enough away that you don't get insta-killed. It's tricky.

I'll have to try it again later. Will probably give it another go after the
Nightmare of Manis
boss now that my blades are +9

Why, why, why do they not allow you to teleport from lanterns.

It would completely skip the into-dream-out-of-dream loading.

I mean the load times would still suck, but at least you wouldn't have to deal with that.

Anybody else run into some serious framerate issues in Forbidden Woods? Like it slows down to 1 frame a second for about 30 seconds and then goes back to normal?

I'm curious about a certain locked door I came across over the weekend. If you take a right turn on the stairs leading to Cathedral Ward you end up in an area with a few hunters. If you keep going down that path you eventually come across a couple executioners before entering a large circular room with a locked door. Whenever I try to open it I received a message that it was locked before
some celestial thing picked me up and insta-killed me
. What's the deal?

Just keep playing

Not supposed to go that way yet, later though :)

Just because you can do both doesn't mean that both aren't appropriate. Both are widely and commonly used in games you can do both in and neither are incorrect. I've heard tons of people use to term to mean both for decades.
People using something a lot means it's appropriate... Ambiguous dual meanings are more effective then separate labels... Just a few pages ago, someone getting confused by that ambiguity...

I'll stick with my foundation as an action gamer first. Where I don't think I have ever heard somebody in any of the communities say they one-shot a boss and didn't mean "one-hit, one-kill." I shall stay in my little cushy bubble away from all the WoW vets using their trendy raid terms on the top action games.

I'd say you're about 1/3 of the way through, assuming you've done all the optional stuff you can so far.

I did the
little witch area that got me rune tools for the workshop
...And then I saw that one lady in
the Unseen Village, and got that electric weapon...but that's all I did there.

Did I miss any other area?

I just found this myself about 20 minutes ago. However, I had enough health to survive the encounter and was transported to a whole new location. I won't say any more for fear of giving out spoilers but it leads on to some new stuff.

Yeah, I think you still get 8-9 HP per level past 50. It's definitely useful. I'm not sure if anyone has completely charted gains past 50 though and if it drops anymore or not. If it keeps at that rate that's still another 400+ base going from 50 to 99 which is a pretty big addition to the 1500 base at 50 Vit.

The other stats have a pretty severe drop though. Like, 1 point of ATK per level for the high scaling weapons. And low scaling stats it takes a few levels to get 1 ATK. Another +50 Atk pre-Gem Bonus is a decent amount, though the grinding it would take to get there would suck I imagine.

99/40/50/50/50/50 probably wouldn't be too bad considering how fast you can get echoes from certain places, though I'm not exactly sure how much exp requirements keep increasing at that point.

Ya and if you memorize the 15% and 10% hp runes you could reach 2500 vit. It would be really hard to die with that much hp. And chances are at that level you are doing 750-800 damage.

Found a weapon called
Tonitrus
today. Put some blunt runes on it and levelled it up to +6 (when will I get my first chunks?) - this feels like a really cool weapon. Let's just hope enemies don't start to become resistant to bolt damage anytime soon! This will supplement my Ludwig's Holy Blade quite well I think. Just a question, what does the L2 do on this thing? It's a buff I suppose, seems to last maybe 10 seconds, but what's the tradeoff? Why shouldn't I have it buffed at all times?

I think the point is to keep it buffed. I was messing around with it today, trying to find a weapon I like to complement the Threaded Cane (I haven't yet) and if you buff it and then immediately go into your stats you can watch your attack plummet after it wears off. Of course I think you are vunerable during that little buffing animation so you've got to choose your moments to do it.

Just beat E
brietas
again! She was a boss in the final layer in the Isz Chalice Dungeon (depth 5). Did it on the third try. Once again, Bolt Paper and charged R2 attacks wins the day!

Haha same here, I loved that fight! I used that pillar to keep the
mage
separated from the other two and killed the
katana
guy first. Started off using Ludwig's 2H but decided to go 1H after a little bit. Managed to do a charged backstab him when he was
transforming or whatever (around half health?)
and the visceral pretty much did him in. Got a visceral on the other
melee
guy with a good shot from my gun and made quick work of him lol. That
snake thing from the mage
really surprised me but dodged the intial hit and
kept my distance till it disappeared and then the mage
didn't stand a chance. Hoping for more intense boss fights like this one :). I did not enjoy the next boss (R
om
) that much

Hah! Visceral? Good game!
That pillar was such a life saver!
I'm a bit afraid of R
om
after how hard people say it is =/

Jeez, three times in a row, I walk into the Shadow of Yharnam fight and the framerate just goes really really slow for about 30 seconds. Then is goes back to normal. It's making this fight really annoying.

yep on my one character Tonitrus is about 150 damage weaker than Ludwig's when I hit L1 for the buff It goes almost 200 stronger than Ludwigs. I had a bolt gem on it which makes a huge difference it almost doubled the modifier you get while it is charged.

Its not great for mobs because of the low durability and having to constantly charge it, but it works wonders on bosses when most of the time a hit and run tactic is most effective.

If I back up my save file, will there be any compatibility issue? Or I'm free to play it whenever I want if I erase another data?

"I played this game for two weeks straight, at least 4 times through and did everything it had to offer. Game sucks!"

Only on gaf

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he only completed one of those 4 characters. The alternative is inconceivable.

The only thing I can possibly imagine is they wanted to discourage you from teleporting around too much.

But that might be assuming that bad things in the game are by design instead of just bad decisions.

only if you try to play the save with a different build of the game, like say if you delete your original install to go back to release build so you can dupe again. You wont be able to play your save until you re download the patches.

So what do I do during Y
ahar'gul
?
It's irritating because of the fast respawning enemies, do the bell ladies cause it? And I reached to the top but Cthulhu's laser keeps on doing insane damage in between the fast respawning enemies. I also reach the bottom area with the two trolls and there's an area that's blocked off by a fence which contains an item.

It is by design. While there are times I wish I could just warp lamp to lamp it would make the world feel less connected. Also Lamps are access points to the dream not to each other so it would not make sense.

Crap. Thought this was THE dungeon. Turns out the princess is in another castle. Where do I find me some Red Jelly?
(Lower Loran)
Farming chunks is also getting tedious. I want to use that NG+ weapon fully leveled ASAP, but I also want to try some guns with my cane.

I used my cloud back up to restore the game after a bug.
I used a local back up to get some trophies without too much trouble.
Loading an old save is trouble free.

I get to Shadows of Yharnam, ring the bell to get someone to help me, run through the fog, game slows down to an absolute crawl. Meanwhile, I can hear him fighting them and can see their life bars being drained. He takes them out and then the framerate on my game goes back to normal. I'm sure he was like "what in the hell is this guy doing?"

:(

The
bell ladies do cause it. Find them and kill them in each area you hear a bell.

No problems with backing stuff up. Totally safe to.

mine never went back to normal...I had ot quit out using the PS4 button. Then when I came back I got it to omnly do it for three seconds by moving the camera to the ground when I entered all the way to the right.

Oh, I checked my stats but maybe I missed it. Yeah, but the buff "transform" is such a short animation, and most enemies should be dead well before the first buff dies off! Maybe I should try the cane, my highest stat is actually skill at the moment, but I still haven't used the cane yet!

Yeah, bell ladies cause it. The smart play, if you know where they are, is to just dash toward them and kill them before killing everyone else. The Amygdala's laser goes the same paths every time. The initial white light doesn't harm you, but you don't want to be standing on the white spots when they explode. You need to rush past it to progress.

I'm done with this game. Probably never going to play it again. There is no reason to beat this game again. The lack of content & quality of content in this game is abysmal.

Chalice dungeons are the most half ass way of trying to add content to a game I've ever seen. I had to force myself to beat them all just so I could say I did everything in the game. They are excrutiatingly boring. Instead of building a beautiful robust world & putting these bosses in them, you have to play through these god awful cookie cutter dungeons to fight some of the best bosses in the game.

Most disappointing game ever for me. I practically bought a PS4 just for this & the game lasted me two weeks & only 4 chatacters. It's so bad I want to scream. Unbelievably disappointed with this game

I think it's just a misguided design decision of really wanting you to visit and interact with the hub and not so much purposely blocking you from teleporting around.

And sometimes developers just have Blind Spots. I think they just overlooked how much the broken loading times make that decision far, far worse than it normally would be.

Honestly I'd have been content with lanterns working just the same as bonfires - rest at them, restore your vials/ammo/health, respawn enemies. Not sure why they didn't reiterate this perfect design, same with estus flasks. Feels different for the sake of being different, "new IP" and all that. There's nothing to gain from having to teleport back to Hunter's Dream. It doesn;t dissuade me from teleporting around. If I need to do it I'll do it - all the loading screens are going to do is annoy me.

Not sure about teleports. I'd be okay with select lanterns that allowed teleportation between "hub" areas, but if DS2 taught us anything it's that we no longer give a shit about shorcuts if we can just teleport everywhere.

Go to options, turn on "camera auto-follow" or whatever it's called, and the bug should go away.

I wasn't affected by it but I had a friend in party chat that ran into the exact same issue yesterday.

I'm hoping this isn't sarcasm because I'm riding high on schadenfreude reading your post.

Yea I loved that pillar haha :). He isn't horrible but definitely took around 5-7 attempts to win. I didn't find the mechanics of the fight fun at all.
