So uh first time playing a From game since Demon's Souls. Anyway possible Odeon Chapel spoiler
I killed the friendly NPC there
how fucked am I?

Hit for hit Ludwig's 2H mode will hit harder than the Hunter Axe, sure. But, I wouldn't say that it puts it to "shame," especially considering the moveset difference. Personally, I feel that even though it doesn't hit quite as hard, the Hunter Axe's moveset is better for a lot of mobs, especially in Chalice dungeons. Though I definitely prefer Ludwig's for bosses.

Also, pure hit for hit damage, nothing beats Chikage. Though the 2H mode HP drain is annoying and I'm not a big fan of the moveset, nothing can beat it for pure DPS.

I was wondering if you put the HP regen gem into Chicklage if it would offset the bleed. I should trying this.

I found the Burial Blade gets the same raw damage as the hunter axe with the same gems. The burial blade is amazing for crowd control and has a very fast moveset.

I used Ludwig's / Burial Blade when i got the platinum.

If I'm coming from Bloodborne do you guys think I'm gonna dig Dark Souls 2? Already played Dark Souls 1 and Demons Souls. Didn't like Dark Souls as much as Demon but it was still great.

Not at all.
Why do you guys always think you are fucked when you kill a npc?
So the blade of mercy being so hard to get is terrible game design

It should have unlocked with the kirkhammer or holy blade

Would have completely changed the way I played the entire game

Can't believe how entirely unique and fantastic it is

Damn
I knew I forgot something before new game +
how do you unlock it?

Damnit
not able to get all 3 umbilical cords... already missed out on the 2 missable ones.
Not looking forward to going all the damn way through just for that yet again, but whatever :-/
You can miss them?

I just beat R
om
and I am out of vials. Where is a good place to farm some?

I developed my own strategy to farm vials. I hop on tomb of oedon, go back, kill those two guys, they always give me 2 vials each. Then keep going back to the elevator, kill the two Giants, go left on the opposite side of the bonfire with the wolf sticked on it. Kill the giant axe bad guy, usually gives me from 2-4 vials. Then I finish on the cleric beast bridge killing the giant and two wolves. It gives me almost 20 every time and never takes me more than 10 minutes.

I agree though...its awesome....not much reach but slowly getting good enough with itthat I ont hae to have theaxe and cane as back ups. Dat spinning R2 though witht the directional stick to the side unlocked!!!!!!! It has saved me in crucial situations while getting ganked from all sides.

Did you not try just letting her die at the
Henryk
fight
?

Im finishing up the chalice dungeons with a friend. FROM really shit the bed on matchmaking in these dungeons. I have to beat all the bosses twice just so we can go through them together.

I would much rather have each dungeon be an instance, and joining an active dungeon would just dump you in with whoever is in there. The way it is now is just frustrating. Not to mention after you die or beat the boss you get split up, so youre looking at around 6-10 matchmaking attempts, with each attempt taking anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes to connect, per dungeon.

The HP regen is extremely slow. Not worth it at all if you ask me.

Isnt it always possible possible to get those? Or does
Iosefka dissapear later on in the game?

Dark Souls 2 is alright. Weakest of all the games mainly cuz the lore and bosses aren't that great. I still had fun with it. Platinumed the vanilla one. Not sure of the new one since they made a ton of changes to enemy encounters and layouts,

Yes, it would somewhat. You'd need to get lucky with good gems to make it worthwhile though. The best I've had for drops usable on it were like Rating 15, 14.5% Phys Atk and +1 Regen. Ideally you'd want 3 Rating 19s with over 20% Atk and however high the regen can go. Plus you can carry a Gun with a Gem with +HP regen on it.

Rating 20s are the Abyssal Gems and I've heard there's 23 unique ones, but I have no clue what the stats on all of them are. I've just got one and it's pretty bad.

you missed 1 of 4 umbilical cords. 2 are not missable.
Make sure you look up how to get the other missable. If you get the other right you missed very little as far as trophies or cool loot.
And an old lady who gives you sedatives at random.

It's sure starting to seem like discovery is a pointless Stat. I rolled around for several areas in NG+ With two eye runes on boosting it to like 270 and it seemed like maybe I would find more of something, but it never really helped enemies in general drop more often or ever seem to drop anything rare...

I always assume the worse. Anyway thanks, I guess it is nice to know I am not the only one to do that.

I think i can live with that thanks.

yeah, dark souls 2 is enjoyable. don't expect the same level of cohesiveness of bloodborne -- it's kind of all over the place -- but it's a really big game, much bigger than bloodborne, with many more items and weapons and stuff. You'll probably like it.

HOLY SHIT! FUCK
TOR
IN THE ASS. It's bad enough when I try to approach, I get stepped on trying to hit with my cane and then you start dropping red shit on me while also covering the entire floor with acid? What the fuck is this? I swear everyone who beat
TOR
had to be using some overpowered weapon or something because doing this shit with a cane is impossible. I can't try to unlock the camera and chase him around because he's constantly turning and flinging shit at me. At least
BSB
comes to you. This motherfucker is a damage sponge that shoots bullshit at you. FUCK. I just wasted 20 vials trying to beat him and got fucked.

i don't know why this game is so stingy with chunks. i was hoping to get more from chalice dungeons but i don't think i got any aiming for the plat. i only have 2 more runs left for the plat and i'll move on soon.

would have been nice to test more weapons.

She
disappeared
for me
That's the problem
After I missed the first encounter there was no way for me to get the weapon until new game plus

Reeeeally getting fed up of wasting insight with the summon bell and nobody joining. Can't believe they didn't make it so that you only lose insight when someone successfully joins your game.

Easiest way is to kill
Eileen
asap since
she has a tendency to permanently disappear through her quest line

But you also get it
for finishing Eileen's questline
Hm, the other hunter killed her on my first playthrough.
So I should have it already, right?

Isnt it always possible possible to get those? Or does
Iosefka dissapear later on in the game?

not sure why this worked out the way it did,
but the 1st time I did not go to the clinic until after Rom. She was sitting there wailing about something. I killed her and got the umbilical cord. 2nd time I went there before Rom and she was an NPC fight and dropped something different. So my assumption is if you kill her before Rom you miss that cord, could be more to it.

Thanks for the responses about Dark Souls 2.

Why the hell can't I find Eileen in the sewers? Also
I gave the jeweled brooch back to the little girl. Is that the end of that quest? Doesn't seem to be any solid info on the Wiki about it.

Game is really quick once you know what you have to do. Sprint through most things.

Yeah, that's always been the case with Souls games. I think I took about 70 hours on my first playthroughs of both Dark Souls 1 and 2 (granted I'm slower than average, but 40-50 is pretty typical). My second playthrough of both was around 15-20, and now I can go through each in under 10 hours easily (without even really trying to "speed run").

That's actually something I love about the games and really increases their replayability. The first playthroughs are long and meaty, but you can complete subsequent ones quickly and efficiently.

Yeah, you're right. I didnt think about the possiblity that you could
fight her before she is wailing.
Then its possible to miss that one item indeed.

i'm having a hell of a time with
vicar amelia

i'm intimately familiar with the souls games & haven't had any issues with the bosses i've fought up until this point, but this one seems to kick my ass without fail

i'm 38, so i don't think i'm under-leveled or anything, but each one of her hits takes away about half of my health. maybe i should just grind some levels into vit?

I've got 430 Item Discovery with all 3 Eye Runes equipped and 50 Arcane (209 base).

I get non-stop drops and more at once. Lots of 4 Vial drops per enemy in the main game and a Blood Gem on nearly every enemy in Chalice Dungeons.

I think I'm done trying to get Eileen's
Tomb of Oedon
event to trigger. I've tried warping directly there, I've tried walking in from both directions, I've tried lowering my insight and I'm getting nothing. I've been googling it for the last hour and there's just too many reports of this questline being incredibly tempermental, even buggy, about triggers.

I spent a lot of time googling, and trying to find out the trigger as well. Did you talk to her outside of the CW immediately to the left? That was my issue. She wasn't easy to see either, I went over there slashing at boxes before I saw her standing right beside me.

loving the kirkhammer and stake driver for my str play through. going to use the beast claws in ng+

Haven't seen many Kirkhammer compliments. I'm liking it too. Switched from axe to the hammer, and I can't see myself going back. It just hits so hard. Got ludwigs blade too, and prefer the r2 charge/ running r2, and forward r2 of the hammer, still.

Not really sure how it's bad design by being hard to get, but it's not even that hard to get.

You can get it as soon as you beat Father G.

The eye runes/discovery makes a huge difference when farming specific mobs for blood chunks. Without any eye runes, I never once got a chunk. With them equipped, I got a good number, although I did run into a number of dry spells.

Just saying that since it's an entirely unique weapon it shouldn't be so easily missable
eileen can disappear never to be seen again if you miss the first encounter

It basically changes the entire game

It would work out fantastic if she
consistently showed up as hostile in grand cathedral after rom like it appears she is supposed to

I actually killed this particular boss by spamming R1 without much strategy using the whip form of the cane+8.

Just roll around and then attack the shit out of him when there is an opening.

Or maybe, you can just go upstairs and keep plunge attacking his ass. Haven't tried that myself but it could work :P

But keep in mind she didnt show for m in teh cathedral either. I think becuase I was cheap and opened the 10k door from behind by goign through the hidden workshop, that Eileen didnt trigger. But I did see her in the sewer, if trhat;'s what you mean. Even if she dioesnt show in the catherdral its worth walking down from the catherdral ward lamp post just to see if the fight is on.

No, your level is fine,
she's just a tough boss, mainly because her fur blocks the camera and makes it hard to see which way she's facing. Still, stay behind her furry ass and switch between locked (when you're behind her) and unlocked rolls to the left of her (when she is facing you) underneath that annoying swipe.

Nope, on my first playthrough I missed her first encounter (the sewers). I was still able to obtain the weapon when she goes insane in front of the Cathederal.
