dumb question. I just left the choir area because I needed more healing items. Now I cannot figure out which lamp is the one that gets me back there, I cant remember the name of it. I dont see any just for Choir. What is it called?

I think its called Upper Cathedral Ward.
 
Here's my fight with the final boss of the Defiled Chalice. This strategy makes the fight pretty easy. I was having a hell of a time until I saw this strategy somewhere on Reddit. Almost went untouched :) Used a +10 axe.

The key is to stand absolutely still when he jumps, turn 180 while holding the R2 for a charged attack. He'll land near you but won't damage and the R2 will usually hit his head twice. The ending is cheesy but whatever.

What exactly does it mean when you ring a bell for help and someone joins your game and it says something like "a maiden was drawn to your bell and appeared somewhere"?
 
so many people use ludwig's that I'm starting to think a kirkhammer build would be novel. it definitely has nice strength scaling.

I like the Kirkhammer a lot, and the reach seems much better than Ludwig's. I also like the transformation animation better. The L2 even has a sweeping attack that's similar to Ludwig's.

Honestly my main problem with it is the size. I get kind of annoyed at how much of the screen it takes up when transformed. It can sometimes get in my line of site. Otherwise a great and fun weapon.

The maiden calls for a player invader to come to your game and to kill you. You can stop that by finding and killing the maiden.

she comes any time you summon, so that prospective invaders have a connection as well.

Means the maiden is going to start ringing a sinister bell and someone searching to invade can find you and invade your world. You can look for the maiden and take her out though if you're so inclined. It's an interesting twist on the pvp mechanic.
 
Sat all yesterday with the first alley in the game. Took a while (like 6 hours) before I became comfortable haha

Am lvl 11 now, took perseverance as the first upgradeable state. I have also found the third armor and have upgraded both the kane and the gun one time. (The gun's useless, big mistake to choose that as the first weapon I noticed.)

I dont feel ready yet for the first boss though. Ran up there and watched, and died lol. Is there anything I can think of to make me ready for it? Something I should fix first, any lvl I should be first?

Are you on NG+?

I used Hemwick a lot, if you go to witch's abode and back up to kill the executioners/dogs it added up pretty quickly.

Some giant brain thing. If you go to the bottom of that area(where those midget people walk around) there's an elevator you can ride to the bottom and find it.
 
I really like Chalice Dungeon bosses.

I had my best mid-boss epiphany on the first boss of the lowest? Pthumerian dungeon Depth 5.
Pthumerian Descendent, Second Encounter
I liked the first encounter with this boss. Eventually I learned to stay at mid-range and punish missed combos. The second time around it was a little hard to stay out of range and hooking my cane around obstacles worked, but that took too long. It's pretty easy to heavy melee stagger him into the wall, but missing later means he can kill you with a combo. Parry is possible, but some of his moves are hard to get a bead on. Twice I came within one hit of victory.
Then it hit me. After going against this boss a few times you know the combo pattern. The sound makes it very predictable. It's the start of the combo that's hard to get a read on.
Ergo, parry the second strike.
Boss died very quickly.

I used the Cane the whole game. I placed almost all of my points in VIT and SKL. Pretty sure my VIT/SKL hit 50 while my END stayed at 27. I still used my sidearm a lot for parries. The main reason I went this way is because I was told the Chalice Dungeons become very difficult. I'm happy my with my build for that purpose.

Now I get so much blood that experimenting is easy. Putting points in Arcane for item discovery.

I never did the "get behind her strat". I'd just face her, pepper her with a gun until she'd do a stupid head slam then run in an out. Finished her off with my gun + bone ash

Yup def hardest boss
Staying behind it is impossible you really just need to dodge every single attack while staying close to the front side of it
 
Dark Souls 2 reminded me that it's OK to summon, don't let people shame you into a frustrating experience. If you wanna bang your head against a boss until he's dead that's fine and most would say the "real" way to play these games, but if not, just coop and be done with it, that's fine too. Get your fun back. These games are not just the bosses, and that's coming from someone that soloed every BB boss (even if now I know many were bugged) and is now summoning a lot in DS2 because you know what, I just wasn't having much fun and now I am again. /shrug

Although to be fair to BB, for whatever reason there seems to be less "summon shaming" in it compared to what I saw in DS1 / 2

Not that I know of. I've been posting here when I've created a dungeon that gives some good loot, but I don't know if people are taking me up on the offer. I've seen some bloodstains and some notes in the chalice dungeons I've made and made public so I know that some people are working their way through it.

As far as I can tell right now through reading through all the different sources is that if you create a dungeon and make it public, that code will be active as long as there's at least one person keeping it alive. That means that the original creator can remove their chalice and as long as someone else is keeping it alive in their world, then the code still works. It's when all people remove that dungeon when that seed code goes back in the pile to be used again with a different randomly generated dungeon.
 
The Doll in Hunters Dream is back to her lifeless self just sitting there on the rock :c I didn't attack her or anything. Is this suppose to happen?
