Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

Ok, fuck the hunters in general but the one in
grand cathedral after beating rom
is literally a joke. I can die in almost one gun shot. Every slash takes almost 80% health. And to top it off, I saw the motherfucker use a vial at 50% to heal almost completely. No hits stagger so I can't combo anything. All I've been able to do is chip away one hit at a time only to inevitably die to an instant gunshot to the face

Any tips at all? I'm trying it out cuz I read here that the weapon you get is awesome but goddamn man

Another tactic you might want to try is
lure him to use the Chikage in 2hands, he will deal damage to himself and when he is at 50% he will use the vial (He only had one when I fought him!), lure him to use it again in 2hands and then throw Poison Knives at him, 3 should afflict slow poison on him and enjoy seeing him die, use the stairs for your advantage.

On another topic about the ending,
why is becoming Great One considered as the "true ending" ? Feels odd to me as you're supposed to hunt them.

Agreed. Confirmed.
ROM
is the absloute most frustrating and worst boss int he entire souls blood/series.

Eh, he's actually pretty easy. I always systematically took care of beating down all of his spiders first though. He telegraphed his attacks pretty blatantly: for the icicles shower just roll roll roll and as for the icicles that shoot upwards there's plenty of cue and delay that you *should* be able to avoid them *real easy*

Once all of his spiders are down he's real easy to kill.

It has really high base damage and pretty weak bloodtinge scaling. Bone Marrow Ash is the main thing increasing its damage, I'm guessing. It's probably also either +9 or +10. The video description even says his bloodtinge is not that high.

Cannon has really shit scaling. All you need is upgraded cannon and bone ash to wreck face.

Goddamn that was something else! I thought Cannon was useless, but holy crap I was just being such a fool.

Because at least now one of them care about or at least benevolent towards humans since this is I believe the first instance a human becomes a *true* Great One
is my guess.

Yeah, I'll add on this hunter was harder than
Rom
for me.

Basically, I used the Axe, and it's heavy spin attack to knock him down after dodging a heavy attack by him. He'll probably hit you with the gun a few times, but just roll, heal and go back and it.

Can definitely see how he mortally wounded poor
Eileen
:(

Rom was human too, he was a former student in Byrgenwerth

I think the
third ending is just a bad ending. At least for humanity, maybe not so much for the PC.

I'm not looking forward to that Hunter... especially having dealt with
three of them.

My god, I couldn't believe they threw
those 3 at us after going through the madness that was in Unseen Village
Had to run like hell and lure one at a time. lol

Both instances were bull crap. xD

I pretty much did the same thing. He started to do a loop where he would teleport, throw a numbing mist(which is so slow you have to be asleep to get hit) then would run forward right into the axe.

Henryk
seems like the new BP Satsuki from what I'm hearing of him.

I mean, come on, he even uses Makoto!

Vicar down in the 4th attempt. I feel like I've redeemed myself somewhat after the failures of Father and BSB. Maybe I'm a slow learner.

The level design in this game is very impressive. I love seeing how interconnected this world is.

Nothing like that feeling of trepidation as you have to decide between a forked path.

I practically had to cheese it by luring them
to my prison cell and closing the door so they couldn't come in. They still killed me because of their horrible long ranged attacks though but I managed it after a 2nd attempt, a lot of caution and a shit ton of vials.
Fuck them.

This is where going cane is fucking me. No knockdown power.

It's fun in spurts but damn it's only hard because they made getting hit pretty much twice killing you. You have to dodge successfully and never get tagged ever to survive. And every time a ridiculous load.

Now I'm out of vials so more ridiculous loading to farm em back. Damn. Wrong kind of difficulty to me but not entirely out of place in a souls game. Thanks for the tips though. Not gonna proceed in this game till I do it!

I know,
but I think he's not a *true* Great One, like the One Reborn. In fact he's more like of a servant that real ones use to mask their presence; a slave. Definitely not at the same level as say the Daughter of the Cosmos or the Moon Presence.

I also think that by the
MC killing off the Moon Presence the cycle of the Hunt is finally over.

Haha, wow never thought of that, cool strategy. I luckily managed to get one of them to follow me down the stairs, but before the boss path and killed one.

Then, did a co-op session, my cooperator died, but helped, and I finished off the other two by spinning to win (axe) lol.

edit - whoops double post.

Okay this cursed dungeon is about the stupidest fucking thing I've ever seen. From, you're not clever game designers when you fucking just halve people's HP. That isn't some clever trick to show how good you guys are at making hard games. That's cheap and fucking stupid.

Ugh, my BSB fight in NG+ felt bugged by the sleep issue, he was just swiping and making it easy to circle around him. If I have time to ponder wether I should throw a fight on my first try because it might be bugged, it's obviously bugged, I'm sure.

I can't even imagine what it must have been like to fight them face to face. Most of the time I was cowering in my prison cell. We both made it at least :)

All this talk about other locations
like Cainhurst Castle and the hunter in the Grand Cathedral with an NPC
. Should I be exploring other places too? I doin't want to mis out too much content... still in the
Unseen Village

I'm close to finishing the game I think.
When you defeat the last boss or whatever, does the game world reset at that point? So if you want to explore places you have found, you need to do that before ending the game, otherwise you are back to fighting cleric beast yeah?

Yes.

Wish the katana wasn't so late game and that the best blood gems weren't buried in chalice dungeons. Contemplating bringing my blood tinge to 8-> 25 for this reason and I'm already level 135, and still leveling (want to bring VIT from 40->50 for later Chalice Dungeons). Leveling isn't a problem in NG+ but I hope enough people are doing the same and will keep leveling so I can still help and invade.

Question: If I equip a cursed blood gem that increases overall physical attack by 9.9%, but lowers attach vs a specific enemy type by 4.9%, it's still an overall damage increase against said enemy type right?

I've stopped at 130ish too for the exact same reason. It's a shame too because I love my Skill/Arcane Blades of Mercy character WAY too much :((

From what discussion I've seen, it looks like PvP'ers will be capping their level around 100 or 110, but I think it's reasonable to expect PvE players to keep leveling. Personally I'm looking to make my first build BL 240.

Hey I like this!

Yea,
it is as if the Great Ones allows him to commune with them and transform him into that hideous thing not because they want him to become one of them but more because they could see that he can be used for their purpose of making Yharnam a breeding ground.

Really tragic.

The idiots
that try to commune with the Great Ones like the church folks seem to want to achieve a higher state of being/existence but to me They just don't give a fuck, lol, and just "look at these fools worshipping us, let see how we can make use of them...."

Finally took down the
Watchdog in the Defiled Chalice.
Staying at SL 100 is becoming less appealing as I go through these chalices.

Arrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhh. Fucking BSB. He is my brick wall, I just can't get him. I've used all my fire paper, molotovs and pungent blood cocktails too and still not managed to get him down.

I had him at a sliver of health once, literally so low you couldn't see any red bar between the white ends, one more tiny hit would have done it, I closed in with glee in my heart, started the swing that would end it all.......AND DIED FROM POISON ;_; which I'd forgotten about, focused as I was on the beast.

Gosh darn it.

Also, that hunter wandering around in Old Yarnham, how the flim flam do you kill him? I keep going back as he has wounded my pride now, but he keeps healing (below the clock tower where gatling gun guy used to be). And is very fast.

I took him out pretty swiftly, but alas I too am having difficulty with BSB. My very first 2 attempts he was almost gone 8(

Take a look at that post by Awntawn above ;)

You can summon a helper (Alfred) even in offline mode for BSB, look at right side at the path towards him, you can see a glowing circle; just use a Beckoning Bell on it. Using 1 insight is a very low price for getting someone that BSB can often focus on instead of you, trust me on that, and even if the AI for Alfred is not that good and he can barely damage the boss, at least when BSB is focusing on him you can get many free hits!

Also, that Hunter is actually one of the easiest to kill.... just do the usual dance, evading, parrying, etc, you'll get him.

Cleared the area, after the beginning area with the mos
quito beasts
, who wreck you to the moon and beyond it was rather easy. The enemies inside are pretty much fodder and free blood echoes.

But now to the boss,
Martyr Logarius
... wow ... managed to get him to the
second phase
and then finito.
That is one hell of a overpowered boss.

I'm around Blood/Soul level 50 ... too low for the boss without cheesing him in a stunlock?

AFAIK most people that I know of doesn't even bother to fight him until at least level 70.

I beat him at 55, but had two summon partners help me lol.

That specific boss is quite easy to parry. You want to just chip him down in the first phase and once he goes melee mode just bait parries.

edit: Think I beat him solo ~50-60

Wow, Abhorrent Beast is absolutely destroying me in Lower Loran depth 5 chalice. I'm getting hit by almost all his attacks. I had trouble the last time I faced him too but now it's insane. Not looking forward to the Defiled dungeons.

Having all but finished the game: farming for bullets and vials add nothing. I'd have lowered the cap on bullets and refilled both bullets and vials automatically on load. It would have incentivised trading health for bullets, which is so potent but so easy to miss.

Dunno what the reason was for going back to the grass system from Demon's Souls. The game is better than Dark Souls but the grass to Estus system might be the only thing I prefer.

I think it might have been due to the regain system and them wanting to put more focus on it.
