For Chalice Dungeons, I've read on the wiki there's a Isz Chalice as well as a Great Isz Chalice. I've only gotten the Great Isz Chalice from a boss drop (E
brietas
) but never got the regular one. Is there actually two different ones or is the wiki wrong?

I think that's pretty much killed my desire to continue with the game. Locking out chalice content unless you meet a goal that you're extremely likely to miss if you're not using a FAQ is terrible design.

I agree, it is poorly done in that regard. At least make it available in NG+ for a bunch of insight or something from the vendors.

you can get to that point in ng+ in less than an hour. happened to me, but it's not that big of an issue

also it's only one dungeon that you're locked out of

It was on ng+. I find most of the other bosses to be easier. Except Martyr. Damn him.

yea, I beat her first try in NG and NG+, she's a bit too predictable for me. i had trouble with SoY in both NG/NG+. i hate having to keep track of them.

Again, sorry I was thinking of the real final chalice, the most on the right, and not the final "trophy" chalice >_<

no sweat, i'm only playing Chalice for the trophy. doubt i'll bother with the other dungeons after i Plat.

Ugh, I'm having a lot of trouble with The
Shadow of Yarnam. I can always take out the triple-fireball dude. But after the others bust out their snake heads I just can't keep up. Any tips?

Where did you get 19% gems if you didn't do Chalice Dungeons yet? I've done a bunch of those and I still don't have any straight 19% ATK ones, just 18.

Turns out I had 2 18% ones, and one 19,8%. Not really complaining, still get a pretty big boost

locking away content behind obtuse as shit stuff is like souls 101.

Rom is so boring. The run up is so cool and intriguing and then
spiders drop from the sky
and you think "oh shit!!" but... nothing happens. You just methodically chop away at things in the first part, second part requires a bit of sprinting but is largely the same and the third is ever so slightly more hectic but... I didn't like it. Took about 10 minutes and was so fucking boring. I'd actually ran out of vials before I fought him and I went to farm a couple of dozen more. Used about 4 in the fight. Was expecting an incredibly frustrating fight after reading this thread and other forums.

Pretty cool that I now know
where these portals are coming from
though... and spooky as fuck D:

I'd agree that as far as bosses go, he's rather boring.

But as far as lore, atmosphere and design being subtle and perfect? I'd say he's one of the best "concepts" I've seen.
Him just...laying there til you hit him. Then running away and summoning spiders who always have their back to him and follow him around and not attacking you unless you draw close. It just all fit together so well to tell an incredible story about this boss.
Almost felt bad for the fucker
til he shot an ice meteor at my brain

Everyone's still playing with the chalice dungeons but I have absolutely zero interest in them, sadly. People sound frustrated with them more than anything else.
It is fortunate that almost all of my points are invested in VIT/SKL, but I'm really enjoying the challenge. The bosses feel much more like the proper level of difficulty. I have two more left before Platinum, but I'm going to finish them all off eventually.
Pthumerian Descendent
might be my favorite boss just because of the novelty I discovered trying to beat his second appearance. Going for the parry on his second swing is such a simple idea, but the rest of the game gave me little reason to think of doing that. In his first form I stayed exactly out of his strike range and exactly at the limit of cane range. None of the other bosses really rewarded me so much with windows that tight.
A
bhorrent
B
east
needs to go home. Can you not parry him or is my timing horribly off on him and him alone? Cause I really don't want this to be one of those bosses you have to kill one hit at a time.
That boss was pretty hard for me as well. Just adopted the old diving at its right leg tactic.

i love his boss room too. it's so different and such a contrast to the rest of the game.

the fact that his blades can go through pillars made that boss suck

I think the best order for that is
the super aggresive sword guy first and then the other fire guy. The triple fireball guy is pretty helpless if you keep stunlocking him. Just watch his moves and be careful there.

So I had trouble with a certain boss in the chalice but that was 30 levels ago in my first playthrough. I'm on ng+ now and if I would go to the boss will I basically dominate him? They don't scale correct?

lmao at my dumb ass. 23 hours into the game and I just now figured out I can sprint/jump by holding down the O button lol. I'm coming for your ass now

they don't scale. you should be able to destroy the early dungeons no problem.

Yeah she is actually kinda predictable, but I just cant seem to dodge her moves quick enough.

I agree in principle. Thing is that my cane can also swing around the pillars so that glitch was the only thing keeping me honest. That he can throw them through the pillars is total crap.

The Old Reborn and the area before this battle is annoying as fuck. Both the boss and the enemies with many heads have one-shot me repeatedly now. When I'm about to get the boss down he one-shots me...

i usually just back away once or twice during her swipes and stay to one side of her. she's pretty easy to avoid that way. try it out if you ever have another rematch.

yea, once you get him down to a sliver of life, he has a move that stunlocks you and takes you out in one hit. it ruined me twice in a row and i ended up summoning lol

yeah i meant the throw, especially since then you can't even see his wind up

F
orbidden Woods
just isn't much fun to explore. I got to
ROM
but decided to explore more, as I knew I had missed a lot in the
woods
. Found
Yosefka
; hated her magic, but I was able to beat her anyway.
Now to see if there is anything besides this shortcut and some clothes and runes that I've missed. Can't wait to leave here though.

Been playing alot of the Chalice Dungeons. As much as I can/what I have. Fighting new/exclusive bosses here is rather fun, along with the occasional exclusive loot.

I hope the DLC allows us to fully transform into a beast in some way.

If you have Beast Roar and the stats to use it, you can knock them over pretty well. Gives some breathing room when you're swarmed

I still need a third attempt on
The One Reborn
. Can't believe it's so tricky for me. I even do it right with going up the stairs and
kill all the mages/spellcasters
.

I guess the size makes it hard to see it's next move....

Use a Shaman Bone Blade if you have. Apparently it works on this boss and will make the fight much easier.

Trying to get used to the kirkhammer. it does a lot of damage but coming from the saw cleaver it's hard to use the hammer part. so slow. is it worth learning it or should I just go back to saw cleaver until a diff weapon is available?

New build: strength focus with arcane supplement. Did you guys find the arcane artifacts very useful? My first character was only ever able to wield one (
the one that transforms you into a messenger
).

Another build I wanna try. Full arcane. Just see how much I can use those spells and explode things.

Is there anywhere specific I can get ATK% gems? The kind that increase physical and elemental damage, they are ridiculous for Tonitrus. I got a 15% one somewhere, and a weaker one through one of the forest shortcuts.

Might need to get my hands on a Lost Tonitrus, but it won't be necessary if I can find the right gems. I think I'm first going to progress NG+ a bit and amass a ton of echoes for leveling, chalice dungeons seem to get utterly ridiculous past depth 3. Are Ailing Loran and Isz pretty bad compared to Lower Pthumeru?

One more thing I just want to say is how much this game's enemy hunter fights remind me of Armored Core. I never got that impression from the Souls games but the quick dash you do while locked on in Bloodborne is totally similar to how ACs move. On top of that, landing hits with guns and the way they stagger when hit is reminiscent of those games. While fighting some of them I kept thinking of trying to land railgun hits on White Glint.

Didn't really think this was doable haha. I haven't beaten him yet but was just just sucking up the damage (it was minor) on my current attempts. Got him to about 5% left and ran out of vials.

The two most useful artifacts only require 15 Arcane. I think every character should get Arcane to this level at least.
Used correctly,
Beast roar
can be a life saver and deadly tool in PvP.

Fuck yes. I gave it up for the night, but was able to beat the shit out of the Defiled Guard Dog by myself after waking up the following morning. I love how that happens.

is nothing to scoff at. He's tough to stay close to and I have no idea what I did to stun him.

Because everyone is solo'ing everything

Chalice Dungeons were built with Co-Op in mind.

I've enjoyed my time with them. Created 3 so far and searched and loaded up someone elses. Co-Op is just plain fun in this game altogether though. I like the secret passages and little hidden stuff in the chalice dungeons. And like everything within this game, love the atmosphere.

I only got co-op to work once. They need to add a matchmaking feature. The way it is now, is just awful. Maybe progress should count for both people too.

I've been using something like this but focused more on arcane. It would work well with Tonitrus which has high strength scaling. As for the hunter tools/artifiacts they aren't amazing but I've found some uses for them.

The bone is kinda cool. It improves your dodge briefly at the cost of a lot of bullets. I have heard high arcane extends the duration but that might be bullshit?

Haven't tried the choir bell - it apparently heals your summoned guys. No idea for how much. Doesn't work when solo at all, it's greyed out.

The damage-dealing ones just seem to do pitiful amounts of damage even with high arcane. I haven't reached 40 yet so I can't use the final tool but the others didn't do much. Executioners' gloves were still useful in NG - I could two-shot those brain things for 3 bullets each. Tiny Tonitrus was alright in a couple situations, namely a boss that swarms you with small bolt-weak enemies. But in later chalice dungeons or NG+ I can't see these being useful - the second enemy I ran across in NG+ seemed to have over 1200 hp. Tentacle face item was hitting things for like 190, not even worth using.

Beast roar is situational. I've had success with it on enemy hunters or getting dogs off of me. Now that I think about it, I bet it'd be nice for spider swarms summoned by those bell bitches in chalice dungeons.

The empty shell adds a flat 80 damage to your weapon and is reusable - also looks cool. Problem is it won't work on elemental weapons or mixed weapons like Tonitrus. Doesn't scale with arcane either, so going past the 15 you need to use it won't help.

Not an artifact but I found an 'arcane sprayer' gun near the end of the game called Rosmarinus. It seems to do pretty great damage at +8 and doesn't eat bullets all that fast. I could see this coming in handy.

Use the environment for sure, there is a huge tombstone looking thing in the corner that is great to use to break them up. I would personally go in this order

Fireball guy, Candle/Torch guy, Sword guy

kirkhammer becomes super beast later on

key moves are definitely the jump attack with it and the charge up does insane damage.

Yes, but that involves a lot of work
you have to go through most of the game to circle back around because you can't get kidnapped without killing Blood Starved Beast (killing BSB spawns the sack nappers)
.

Gotcha thanks for the help, almost doesn't seem worth it for some optional dialogue lol

Try the holy sword once you unlock it. I also thought the hammer was slow compare to the axe, which is prob slower than the saw cleaver as well. The holy sword is pretty good once you get used to it. It has a longer reach as a straight sword and transforming it to great sword can deal a good amount of dmg with longer reach as well. The great sword form is a little bit faster than the hammer however.
