Thanks for all the responses guys. Sorry I didn't see them until now... my work filter doesn't like this thread much, and page 39 is completely inaccessible for some reason :-/ Finally read it on my phone.

So durability exists but it isn't displayed on screen eh? Is it automatically repaired if you go back to the Dream before a weapon is broken? Wiki doesn't seem to be fleshed out on this detail yet :P
Nah, you have to repair at the workbench in the Hunter's Dream.
You can see how much it is degraded in your inventory. The more it's degraded the more expensive to repair.

Hmm or maybe i'll just get my money back. :D
You'd regret it, really.

The first part with the tall giants and the Frenzy I just ran by everyone. Once you get inside, it slows a it and you can take stuff on. Don't forget the hidden path to the
lever
half way through.

If you hide from the window behind the natural structures around the spikes will stop hitting you and stop building frenzy. Also if you roll or sprint the spikes will be removed from your body so they won't drain your health. Have sedatives on hand to remove the frenzy or wear your Ash suit with max frenzy resist and you should be fine. Builds quite slowly

Eh, once he's in his third phase the entire region in front of him is just a huge fuck-off pointless mess. His AI goes spazzy and his hitboxes get nuts, and there's no longer really any vulnerability to exploit on any of his attacks at that point.

Seriously, just run behind him and shank his ankle once he goes into dual-wield arms mode. He doesn't have a response except to stamp now and then, and if you work his leg hard enough it seems to do comparable damage to hitting his arms, anyway. The brain is just a lost cause once he goes into full-on bad boss temper tantrum mode.

In 3rd phase stand behind him hit his tail or legs, she will always jump away from you. immediatly run to where she jumped and get the same position. Rinse and repeat. The only that should be hitting you at all in 3rd phase is footstomp which at least for me took around 40% of my health. If you just hit the tail the foot stomp should never hit you. Axe R2 or Schythe charged R2 work well for this phase.

Okay, so...

Thread Cane, that has Arcane scaling but no built-in damage = Arcane only applies for blood gems

Blades of Mercy, with Arcane scaling and built-in Arcane damage = Arcane always applies

Did I get that right?

Yes, arcane will only apply on cane if you gem it. It will then do no physical damage and skill will not contribute to any damage.

Actually if you use the magic weapon buff, arcane and str scaling applies at the same time.

Nope.

I thought that was just a flat +80 modifier?

Correct the weapon buffs fire/bolt paper and the arcane buff spell are flat modifiers.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. I'm guessing there are significant challenges around reducing the load times due to the engine and the way the areas are loaded/streamed/not streamed. Their announcement was that they were "looking into it" but not a promise to actually release a fix. Hopefully we'll get something, but I'm not holding out too much hope.

For me, just being able to reset things by touching a lamp (rather than going back to the dream) would be a big win in those regards. Because currently you need to hit two loading screens just to reset an area...

What bugs me is how long it takes to load if you die. Its the same area. Does it really need to take 45 seconds to reset enemy positions and teleport you to the last lamp? I hope they add lore and item info to loading screens at least. Having a rest option at a lamp to reset would be great too.

any good tactics to take on Rom, the Spider. Faced him a few times and got wrecked.

Stay close enough to him on ohase 2 and it will launch those attacks from the ground instead of the homing air missiles. Makes life easier. Just be patient and take out the spiders on one side and then get some jabs in.

Yeah I got the shortcut to Mergo's Loft:Base. Then I went back and backstabbed and killed everything lol. I died while killing the maiden in the area and when progressing through the level and deciding to go back again my lost blood echoes were glitched. I just saw a glow in mid air like enemies normally have when they stole your echoes, but there was no maiden to kill. Weird.

Also, all fucking enemies in this game hit like a truck at this stage. Easily lose almost half my HP with just a single hit (vit @ 30). I keep running out of blood vials.

i will give it a shot, lets see how far i can get this time.. Thanks ;)

Use Tonitrus. Whn you start the battle, run up to his side and keep hitting him until he vanishes. Then get rid of some small spiders with the charged Tonitrus and repeat the first step but this time watch out for the explosion attack he doe..Easy boss..

Good place to farm blood echoes, beside L
ecture hall
? I'm lvl 77 btw :p

Nightmare of Mensis. Sneak up behind the first Man-eating Pig and kill it with a Visceral Attack. Then run past the other two, leading them into the group of Yharnam Shadow Guys. The Shadows and Pigs will fight each other. Finish off whoever's left afterwards.

Alright, I'm starting to wonder now if I shouldn't just scrap my Arcane/Str build in its infancy and just go full Str...

Wonder how long a good Bloodtinge build needs to get off the ground.

lmao, killed
Ebrietas but then got one shotted twice by Mergo. First time you start with your back towards her, lol. Second time I rushed right into her spin attack. I expected her to be very easy and she is but you can't really hit her more than twice or so.

Its basically waiting for her attack to finish, strike a few times, get out of range. Most boring boss in the game. Couldn't really combo her, couldn't stun her too. She's from stone.

It took a while for me to beat him too. I ended up having to level up my arcane to 15 so I could use the empty phantasm shell which gives your equipped weapon arcane power for like 60 seconds. It worked really well on him, I am using the ax. Also when he teleports for the third time it's gotta be quick strikes and then back the fuck up because he has this Attack that can seriously one hit kill you.

A dude a few pages back actually killed all the smaller spiders by attacking them from the sides and since they don't respawn it made it pretty easy for him. Good luck.

You and many others >_> WW streamer elajjaz is even trying to find a good way to take him out, there is none right now for an early build.

However since you're likely higher leveled I'd say grab lots of Bolt paper. arcane defense for the meteors. Oh, and co-op. Beat him with my brother it just take patience finding an opening and dodging the damn projectiles.

So I beat E
briatas
but after the fight there seems to be
some sort of dead spider thing, not sure what it is but when I inspect it says 'do nothing'.
Am I supposed to be doing something here?

There's two weapons that work well with str/arc.
The wheel and tonitrus

Posting cuz pages move so fast.

Eileen, I missed in the sewer. 3/4 through game, can i still do that quest or I have to wait for NG+
I have not finished the quest nor the game, but I researched her quest because of reasons.

See if she's in her second location:
If you have yet to beat
Vicar Amelia
: See if there's a hunter to fight in the arena where you fought
Father Gascoigne

If you have beaten [spoile]Vicar Amelia[/spoiler]: See if she's standing outside
Oedun Chapel
, just go forward, out and look to the left. If you speak to her there she will give you a gesture and move to the location mentioned above.

Nah, you have to repair at the workbench in the Hunter's Dream.
You can see how much it is degraded in your inventory. The more it's degraded the more expensive to repair.
So one should really just do this every time they hit the Dream. Weird that there's no realy visual indicator for it but definitely good to know.
You'd regret it, really.
hehe

Here's another question, I am rather loving my threaded cane, is there some similar but better item I should be aiming to get early on or am I best off upgrading it as much as possible?

With Eileen. If I never encountered right in the beginning of the game, and I'm about 3/4 through the game, is it too late for her questline or can I still complete it?

I'm wondering the same thing. I missed her in the first area but I did see her in C
athedral Ward
. Talked to her but she never told me about T
he Tomb of Odeon
which is supposedly where it needs to go next and I'm wondering how to trigger that dialogue.

So I beat E
briatas

Am I supposed to be doing something here?

you can do there something later.
but only if something else happend before that.

Do you happen to know if she is still at the Oedun Chapel if I've already beaten Rom? Or would she be near the entrance where I fought Rom? Been looking for her everywhere but can't find her either.

I thought you were only too far if you had already beaten
Rom

Which I did, and now I can only add her to the list of defeated Hunters.

You'll know for sure if you try to warp to the place Amelia was. If you can't, she's waiting for you there.
aggro'd

I'm done with the main game. Took me 36 hours with every optional boss beat. Every weapon except for one collected. Now I have to beat it again for
one more ending. I backed up my save, but I ate the chords before the point of no return :/
.

First I'll dive into the chalice dungeons. I don't really have a clue how they work, since it seems you can activate any chalice at any tombstone? And do you unlock more chalices as you beat more dungeons?

I've been using the cane, and eventually the axe, for the pretty much the entire game. I have them both at +9 right now. A lot of people seem to really like Ludwig's Holy Blade but it never clicked for me.

Don't worry about conserving the first two types of weapon building materials--you'll get plenty of them.

Fuck this 50% health penalty in Cursed Pthumerian Defilement. Layer 1 boss is cutting me up like butter. Every hit does 80% damage and that's with a 10% + 5% health boost and 4% damage reduction from runes. I have 30 VIT. She's just way too fast.

this quest messed up for me again.

1. I talked to her in Sewers before Cleric Beast
2. Talked her before FG (still said the same stuff)
3. Talked to her after FG (still said the same stuff)
4. Check her 2nd spot
(Oedom Chaple
) she was not there
5. Went to
Tomb,
no fighting, but I
found the body of the hunter she was supposed to be fighting
6. Decided the whole I could not advance questline, went back to sewers, she was still there. Killed her to at least
get the Crow Badge...
really wanted to join the covenant, but oh well.

I'm fucking lost in the forbidden woods part 2.

There are like a million snakes here and everywhere looks 60% the same.

I'm walking around with 60k echoes because I don't want to respawn the enemies and fight through everything until I know where the next shortcut is, but I'm also terrified of a single bad boar encounter...

Give me some landmarks here guys >_<

As a Chikage user, doing pretty damn well, still looking for high tier Blood/Phys Gems + Health Regen to counter it in endgame though.

where did you find the 15% health boost rune? I have only found the 10% and 5%.

Enjoy beeing lost <3.

Has your PS4 been in suspend mode a lot recently? If so power off, back on and go back in and the online should be more straightened out. Also, make sure you're set to worldwide.

Nope, I never use suspend mode. I'm set to worldwide already, so I dunno what's up.

Unless you're in a area that by default has a bell maiden (the two nightmare zones) you're going to be waiting a *long* time.

Yeah I'm on the Frontier at the moment.

There are plenty of landmarks if you actually take the time to properly study the terrain

First shortcut in the woods
is directly after you engage the snake headed man on the bridge. Choose the high paths to get it
. The second is to the
left of the first pig you encounter at the river.

Yeahhhh I have no interest in any such holy blades. I will be very happy if I can keep this cane relevant the whole game. :D

The "put back into cane mode" non-attack animation is basically the best thing ever.
