Grand Theft Auto V Steam pre-load is live

60GB... yeah this will take like 3 days with my internet speed and this is why many countries still more into PC retail version than digital. I wish 2K/Rockstar follow Bethesda (and other publisher) on this and release their retail PC games with Steam key and steam installing from the discs like Wolfenstein and many other games.

Says it will take 1 hour 27 minutes and I just started it on Steam.

I pay to much for my internets tho.

He meant FoV (field of view) settings for the first person mode. And that was even a thing in the console version, so I expect it to be there from the start in the PC version as well.

Aaaaah thanks, I read that wrong :)

What are the chances this will go on sale for 33% off at least during the Summer sale in July? $69.99 is kind of a big pill to swallow for a triple dip. Decisions decisions...

My download via Rockstar's servers has dropped from 900kb/sec (below my usual 5-7mb/sec) to 90kb/sec. I know we've got 7 days but it's still painfully slow.

That is pretty much what I expected to happen. I doubt Rockstar's service is as well stress tested as Steam. Having said that, I don't expect many people to be able to play on launch day since everything goes through Rockstar's Social Club, so every will likely grind it to a halt for a while

i meant a mod to increase the FOV in first person mode b/c the slider in the console version barely does anything.

Hopefully it'll be in the game naturally rather than having to be modded. I hope the ports as good as Max Payne 3's.

Mod wise I'd like to see something that makes the cops less deadly/gives me a bit more health so I stand a chance :P

It's a good thing they allowed people to preload a week in advance. I thought the preload would be smaller actually...in the region of 30-40GB with compression

Of course not, it is social club only. I will add it to steam as a nonsteam game.
Only place to get steam copies is steam itself, and even there you still have to use social club.

Just bought it from there, it was way more cheaper than steam for me here (Chile). Steam version was like $20 - $25 more here.

I heard that with Rockstar Social Club that you won't be able to download this and then give the files to your roommate and let them login to their RSC/steam and verify the game because RSC throws a hissy fit because of the DRM?

Can anyone confirm? Does this mean all my roommates will each have to download a 60 GB game... ?

Also is it confirmed that nuuvem's keys have no region lock shenanigans?

I've checked out the requirements for the game, and my setup apparently meets the requirements. I'm a little wary though.

i7 3770k
GTX 680 2GB
8GB RAM

I'll probably end up waiting to see how well it performs on different rigs.

This is exactly where I'm at. Though, I am thinking about getting a 980 within a month or two before The Witcher 3. I also think capping it at 30fps will be a necessity right now. I wish they'd announce the 980Ti already!

Unless there's a sizable Day 1 Patch they're still working on, not sure what's the issue in them pushing up the release.

Online infrastructure, co-marketing agreements, coordinated release dates, etc. etc. etc. There are plenty of reasons you don't make a change in the release date at this point in time unless you positively, absolutely have to.

I don't see why copying the folder with all the pre-load data to someone else wouldn't work right now. Just give it a go, the downloaded files can be found in steamapps/depotcache on the drive you pre-loaded it to. Just put all the files there on another PC and start the pre-load, should probably finish up right away and say it's done.

I have never tried that though, so no idea if there's anything stopping this from working.

Yep. Buying this on 7 DVDs.

yeah Wolfenstein TNO was on 4 DVDs, (maybe publishers should move to blu-ray for the PC retail releases but it don't really matter) for me it's still better than downloading 40 or more GBs on my slow internet and limited bandwidth cap. sadly unlike Wolfenstein Rockstar don't do steam installing from the discs for their games.

Since I have a download cap of 200GB; I'll be preloading this using my friend's 150Mbit internet this afternoon (no cap). I'm pretty thankful about that.

Took me about two hours to download it all.
Having all this stuff installed however is becoming a problem. I think I need a new HDD.

Yep. Blu-ray probably won't catch on for desktops, I think, for at least another couple years. It'll be great when it does. I'd like to see the final release of Star Citizen on two blu-ray discs, rather than a weeks worth of downloading. :P

I hate that Rockstar doesn't give steam keys with their physical copies. Straight through their shitty social club. I won't be installing the game until at least a couple days after release so I can see how the game runs on AMD GPUs and if there are any issues with DRM and optimization stuffs.

Ughhhh.... rockstar's downloader is going at 300kb/sec

4.5 hrs remaining and half way done.

Meanwhile the download speed from social club went to shit (500KB) and it shows me more than a day to download. Dammit.

Is this available for pre-load from the rockstar social club thing? I think the GMG key I've got is for that but when I click download it takes me to their page about pre-ordering games. I googled and there was a link from RS support with a downloadable version of the social club thing but when I install it it won't run. (Windows 7 here if that makes a difference).

I'd love to be able to start pre-loading asap because it's a huge game and I have shit internet.

Downloading now at a steady 1.2MBps. Supposedly we're getting gigabit fibre here but at the rate they've been going I'll believe it when I see it.

ah fuck it, cleaned out my hdd and bit the bullet, tripple dip fuck yeah
only 2 days to go I don't recall my internet being this fast.

I rarely see the benefits of fast internet but I guess this is convenient. I'm moving to a new apartment in June with a gigabit connection, so realistically I should begin to be HDD limited. That is going to be funny.

I wanted to put this on my SSD, but I'm running out of space. I'll install it somewhere else, then run steammover once the game is installed.
