Where's a decent spot to farm blood chunks? I have my LHB and axe to +7 I'd like to get that higher. I heard
Cainhurst is a good spot.

Urgh. C
ainhurst
is likely to be the worst of 'em. Definitely not the best.

Until someone comes up with something better, I'll sing the gospel of
Upper Cathedral Ward.
. The b
lue eyed werewolves
have the chunks as a rare drop. You have a quick access to a total of 5 of them. Kill all 5, then port back to the lantern using a bold hunters mark (buy more if necessary, you'll gain far more blood echoes than you spend). Rinse and repeat.

The other mobs known to have them as rare drops are the G
argoyles
in C
ainhurst
, the
corpse-werewolves
in Y
ahar'gul post ROM
and the single G
iant
in the L
ecture Building, 2nd floor.
.

Important part: Your discovery stat affects your drop rates. Without boosting it, you'll find the drops to really adhere to the term "rare." Equip both of the available 'eye' Caryll runes before you start farming, as they boost your discovery.

Does anyone know how to open the door in cathedral ward thats down the stairs from the big ball and chain guy?

I've wondered about this too. Forgot about it until I saw it on a LP this morning.

I wonder. When watching Epic Name Bro's walkthrough, he went by and scoffed at it saying "No". I wonder what he meant.

I tried going there a few times during the progression of the game and nada.

what?

didn't ENB tell us and even show us, where that door lent??

to the bridge you fought cleric beast
you can see the bridge, when you stand where the big ball chain guy was.

I'm level 73. Is that plent high enough to tackle Mensis?

Maybe I should go back and do the Chalices. I only did the first two levels of the first one.
It's decent. I'll warn you not to get caught in a combo. You'll most likely die since the enemies hit hard. The la la bitches drop around 12k echoes. But you can easily die to them.

Chalices won't net a lot of echoes until the later ones.

I'm usually not a fan either, and always prefer to make a new character over doing NG+, but this time
the weapon I wanted was NG+ only, so I don't really have a choice if I want to use it.

After beating it, I'll get to Nightmare Frontier on NG+2 just to PVP and create a new character for PVE.

The
scythe
? I heard you can use a Bold Hunter's Mark after defeating G
ehrman
and still be able to buy it from the messengers in NG if you go for the
Childhood's Beginning ending by consuming three umbilical cords
.

Huh? Just get the uncanny/lost versions from the chalice dungeons. I did that even before I killed
The One Reborn

I really hate Chalice Dungeons though. This shit is gonna kill PVP for me, having to farm gems there will suck so much.

What do beast pellets do?

You do more damage. When you use the item, it starts a meter which increases with every hit (and decreases over time if not attacking). As the meter increases, you do more damage but also take more damage.

So in the three hunter encounter for example, I had Ludwig's Blade at +9. With beast pellets and Ludwig's innate ability to stagger like crazy, I managed to get quite a few hits of on the hunters and did crazy amounts of damage before having to back off to regain stamina. Rinse and repeat a couple of times and the hunters were down fairly quick.

I generally don't watch ENB videos.

Why does the door never unlock?

I can't stand the way he talks, so I don't watch him.

But anyway, the door appears to be a shortcut that FromSoftware decided against and forgot to remove it completely. I suspect that C
leric
B
east
and F
ather
G
ascoigne
were both optional at one point, but you had to choose at least one to proceed to the Cathedral Ward.

If they were also optional then there would hardly be any bosses!

I hate that guy. He kept spamming his gun whenever I had him down to 10% health or less and would kill me after 2 hits or would parry me. I accidentally came across an exploit to cheese him when I ran off to recoup and heal. If you want to know:
Lure him out the door, then block him from getting back in. His AI will keep trying to go inside and he won't attack, allowing you to just beat him to death.

Hahaha, so check it:
I did like you said - I tried luring him out of the door. But right before the steps he pulled out his sword which started giving him damage. But instead of following me he started walking backwards loosing HP all the time. Eventually he died on his own!

CB is already optional. Father G isn't. So basically, you would have to choose one, or do both if you wanted. If you chose CB, then that door would unlock and you could get to the Cathedral Ward that way. And then the floor door hatch with the ladder down to the basement/water area of the cathedral would probably be closed to prevent you going into Father G's boss area from the back.

Did you have him down to low HP? Cause that poison effect he does wears off after a short while.

Hmm that is kind of true, sadly. Two of my gems are from chalice dungeons but one gem is from the hidden "frenzy gauntlet" in the 2nd nightmare. The chalice dungeon "abyss" gems are only +0.5% and +1.1% more so I guess you can get very close without ever setting foot into a chalice dungeon. Only problem is you have to roll -durability (or maybe +stamina usage if you can handle it) on them to make them usable in pvp.

For some reason I can't send anyone to the Chapel. Is there something wrong with my game? I've killed three bosses so it shouldn't be a problem. I've also tlakes to the chapel lady a bunch of times.

No, I literally didn't take one swing at him. He just slowly died off by himself.

some say from wanted to make it a shortcut, but forgot about it.

or..
remember the NPC at the lamp in central yharnam, that tells you they locked the door because of the hunt and you should try the aqueduct?
that's the door.

I guess you found a new glitch to cheese him! lol. I had him down to like 10% when I got him
trapped behind the door
. I guess I felt justified to cheese him then, since he kept cheesing me with his gun at that point.

how long do the pellets last?

Just got to father Gascoyne. WTF no saving points before him... This game is brutal

there never are any lamps near bosses.
find all shortcuts and then make a run for it.

So I am sure this has been asked countless times so I apologize, but the OT is massive. Anyway Old Yarham question
Does that machine gunner in the tower re-spawn after you kill him?

I need to time it next time I use them. I actually don't know.

Also, wow, had no idea that visceral attacks seem to scale with skill. Interesting stuff. Gives me a few new ideas for builds to try out.

Kinda surprised people aren't digging the chalice dungeons more. I think they are pretty cool although I do find the difficulty scaling is a bit suspect at times (Ailing Loran seemed a lot easier to me than most of the level 3's).

Not needed to farm for anything yet, and its been a nice break from ng+.

GG

and beautiful screen too.

I did it in my second playthrough.

Two stuff left for me to see in the game :

Arianna's baby and Eileen's questline ending

probably for NG++

I think people will come to appreciate them more as time goes on, they're a great addition to the game but people are understandably more interested in mainlining at the moment.

So it seems this game has some pretty crazy damage variance. Has anyone figured out exactly what causes it? My only hunch is that certain actions may give you a defense penalty. For example,
Micolash used his magic attack on me and even though only one of the beams hit me,
it took off the remaining 90% of my life. Potentially a straight up one shot. I was coming out of a dodge at that exact moment, so maybe that has something to do with it? For reference I had around 800 hp at VIT 20 and I had been hit by the attack before and did not lose nearly that much life.
