so whats the gaf consensus better, slightly worse or equal to dark souls ?

Probably depends on your play style.

BB has way, way, way better world and level design, enemy design, and combat. There's nothing like the trick weapons in Dark Souls and it's going to feel like a step down going back.

It falls short in variety though. There are way less options to experiment with builds. Everyone is going to end up with the equivalent of a dex based character that hits quickly and evades. A spellcaster isn't viable since magic is so limited and a havel like "tank" isn't possible.

Still, all this is by design. BB is its own thing and not trying to be Dark Souls 3. Considering it has yet to get its first major patch (all souls games had SIGNIFICANT post release patches to fix gameplay) it's easily the most polished and well built of the series.

I think I was a bit over-leveled for darkbeast lol

I think you and I have different ideas of what a "one-shot" means. I was expecting to see her go down in one shot.

Anyhow, GAF, I just finished the game and forgot to get the
blood rock
in my first playthrough. Went into NG+ without it. Was so hyped to be fighting
Moon Presence
that I totally forgot that was the one thing I had not yet done.

Guess I'm stuck at
+9
until I git gud on NG+.

WOO HOO Won my first PVP. I'm guessing this guy was real. PSN was unibrownie. Came at me with a Saw Cleaver and Ludwig's Rifle. Got a parry on em that led to his death. Had to take out that bell "maiden" afterwards. Need to press on.

BB does a lot right. Won't say better than dark souls but at least as good.

But there are so many weird design choices and stuff they simply fucked up.

Online with the bells.
You loosing inside, even if no one joined you.
Not being able to rest at lamps to get new hp and reset enemies.
No warping between lamps.
Covenants giving no rewards at all.
No changes in ng+.
And some things more I can't think about right now.

Yeah it's risky but I wanted to try and make it to a million!

Killed Cleric Beast on new game + took me three attempts and a 10' fight, I do less damage than I thought... need to level up a lot (I'm level 65).

I've posted it before, but this is still my favorite invasion I've done.

I can feel that dude's rage from here. However, I prefer PvP matches where I have a skilled opponent and a decent amount of challenge. Had a few where it was back and forth til the very end, and a couple where the host and I exchanged killing blows.

Good shit.

Interesting to see how PvP in this game embraces blood vials. Otherwise, PvP fights would be over way too fast. Pretty different from how the "etiquette" in the Souls games.

So has a reliable blood chunk source been found? I saw someone recommend the werewolves in upper cathedral, but with a discovery of 175, I'm getting lesser shards.

I get 1 of three wolves killed in two times of three, which means 2 blood chunks in three attempts.

Damn. Took a few more steps and ran into that boulder guy Aces&Eights likes so much. Gotta go get my 90k souls back now.

Aaaaand, got em. Done for tonight.

If you lose those, have someone record you vomiting in rage.

I'm at the end of the game, and I never got invaded. Do invasions rely entirely on ringing the beckoning bell? I hated being invaded in the previous games, but now, I kinda miss the excitement and feeling of dread when someone suddenly invaded. :P

Hey, if you can dish out that much damage per hit and not get insta-popped by the spiders or the projectiles then fuckin' A.

I did kill the initial wave at least.

You can be invaded in
Nightmare of Mensis
and
Nightmare Frontier

Gotta love getting all the way through the chalices only to realize that the only way you can get to the last one is an item from nightmare of mensis. Get to restore my save and start chalices over lol.

I dont understand, why do u have to do that?

I mentioned it earlier but try the
Yetis near Mergos loft base

Lol I have 500k in lost souls as a pair of floating purple eyes I can't collect. You can sneeze and get to a million in NG+.

Same here, but I'm 75. NG+ is much harder than on any of the Souls games, where you'd basically steamroll through everything during the first half.

I made it to Gascoigne and died a couple times because my mind's not really in the game right now. I'm gonna need some serious motivation to do NG+. Or maybe just take a break from the game for a few days.

Funny how I'm laying in bed thinking "hmmm, if I try a less aggressive style and settle in for a long fight, I bet it's not so impossible..." after 50+ painfully frustrating attempts.

This game sure gets under ones skin.

Edit: now I'm thinking "what if I swap out the +10% health rune in favor of more vials, I'm not getting OHKO'ed but I do run out of vials..."

I gotta sleep first.

WOW I'm lvl 70 and just killed Rom and Paarl... and you are in ng+

I didn't want to "outlevel" the game, that's my reason. That made me spend a looooot of time with some bosses, I finished the game within 85hs doing almost everything (couldn't fight the real final boss -_-).

I'm playing like if it's my first time, killing everything and taking my time, I totally understand you though, it could happen that I grow tired of the game but for now I'm still in love. Have to finish new game + to see the real ending. (missed the first time).

Is it bad that I've stuck with the Saw Cleaver this long? Nothing else I've found does as much damage (Kirkhammer, Tonitrus, etc.). It's at +6 at the moment, but nothing else has stronger base damage (I believe Saw Cleaver starts at +90).

I haven't found the Ludwig Holy Blade some of you are talking about. And I'm hoping that I didn't just imagine that there are katanas in this game, because they looked amazing. This game is pure torture for the rabid completionist inside of me.

What should be the weapon of choice in physical damage terms for someone who's just reached Nightmare and Unseen headstones?

What a trip, by the way, these two areas have been
lol.gif

HA! Just checked the wiki and I did right by sending that prick
Suspicious Beggar
to Iosefka's. Thanks for the easy
rune
, you putz.

Okay, done for the night for real now.

Really? I'm finding NG+ to be a breeze compared to past games. I was ~65 up until after FG where I levelled upto 100 though. Now at 100 it feels almost broken how ineffectual every enemy is.

ya easist boss in the game. I accidently stumbled on him 1st time through with only 6 vials left and 90k echos.... man was I worried... I think I used maybe 1 vial. Little just spammed Ludwig R1 on him with him trapped in a corner both phases.
If he wasn't trying any of his more difficult moves on you and just standing in the corner or simple punching, you may have got the bugged version of him that's resulting from the game being in rest mode too long. Watch a YT of the fight and see if it looks different than yours.

Nah, best waifu is

Nah it's the old lady. Her
opium addiction
is sooo kaiwaii.

His only difficult move is an explosion. I can see why he found it easy.

This is a design choice that was very clearly brought on by people complaining so much about invasions even though theyve always been an integral part of the series. By limiting where Bell Maidens spawn theyve effectively eliminated random invasions. Its pretty disheartening when theres the ability to play offline for those people but instead it affects those of us who enjoy the thrill of random invasions.

I agree with people saying the multiplayer system is a definite step back. A shame because everything else about the game is top notch as you would expect.

I'm still 25 levels away from 100 though.

I perfectly understand why they did it and I am 50/50 on it whether I like or dislike it.

It's also funny to me (yet not at all surprising) that two invasion zones are the two most annoying/rage inducing zones in the game (only one other zone can be more rage inducing).
