Raging right now.
Abhorent beast is kicking my ASS in the chalice dungeon right now. I've been cruising up until this moment, this guy is ridiculously overpowered.

Made it through the chalice dungeons to get the trophy. i died probably 20 times on the (unique chalice boss)
abhorrent beast, and on defiled amygdala,
those were the only ones who gave me trouble.

All I'm missing are ending related trophies for the plat. I don't see the point in save scumming when i want to play the game, so I've got probably 10 to 15 more hours for NG++ until I've done it all.

not quite sure im leveling up properly.

Im level 52
23 Vitality
20 Endurance
19 Strength
27 Skill
6 Bloodtinge
7 Arcane

Rocking threaded cane +6

I dont feel like im getting more powerful as Ive probably stayed in the same area for 10'ish levels and seem to be doing the same amount of damage and stuff.

Darkbeast Paarl
is still kicking my ass dealing massive damage to me, I dont understand.

Maybe I need a better weapon to face it

The key to getting visceral attacks on that boss is attacking the right areas and isn't really about damage. I can attest that the cane indeed fucks up that boss, and isn't weak against any bosses that I've encountered. It has thrust, it has slash, it has range, it has speed, it has horizontal attacks, it has overhead attacks, it has stun power. It has everything.
Well, switching the weapons made it easier for me to hit the right spots on that punk.

My good-to-go weapon for 90% of the encounters is the cane, and i plan to get it to +10 asap, as i'm nearing the skill softcap of 25.

For example, i love the holy blade for the annoying kidnappers. :)

Threaded Cane doesn't get much from increasing strength. You would have been better off keeping strength at minimum and pumping more skill instead.

well i started with the violent past class, so my strength started at 15, have only put 4 points into it, and that wasmainly so I can hold some other weapons. Have mostly been doing Skill/Vitality with Endurance occasionally

You're stats are perfect for Ludwigs.

If i'm not mistaken, he already hit the softcap for skill, so pumping more points in there could result in diminishing return.

@Bishop89:

Try Ludiwg's holy blade, since you already hit the required stats. Level it up so +4 or so, it hits hard in transformed state.

Skill is worth pumping until 50. The soft cap decreases the gains a bit, but not nearly enough to give up on it.

Edit-I agree Ludwig's is the best choice for that stat spread.

Ok, so what's a good area to farm for Blood Shards and Twin Blood Shards? I want to play around with some other weapons in my inventory, but it's hard to gauge whether they're good or not when my +7's do so much more damage.
Equip eye runes and go to the
Upper Cathedral Ward
and fight 5 werewolves. Rinse and repeat.

This is also good for Chunks. But that shit is unfairly rare.

You're a bit low on VIT, those extra points you've wasted in STR could've helped but not that much. For the next 10 levels put 7 points in VIT 3 in END, SKL is alright for now.

The cane is a beast. I've rocked the main game with it then jumped into NG+ and still couldn't find a better SKL weapon.

Use the cane in whip form,
Paarl
is susceptible to back legs attack, so stay close to him and hit those legs a couple of times till he drops on the ground. If you manage to hit him right when he tries to get up you can drop him again for massive damage. Most of his attacks and charges can be evaded and make sure to dash away when he starts to charge the electro-bomb. Fire paper also helps.

I don't know why they made the chunks so insanely rare like this. I'm almost done with my NG+ run and I've only aqcuired enough chunks to max out 4 weapons. this is also with hours of farming in my first playthrough. Considering the amount of weapons in this game, having only 4 maxed after this many hours of play feels like fucking bullshit.

And don't even get me started on the blood rock fuckery. LOL yeah, fuck you too, From.

Did you play the other souls games? There was A TON of grinding in those.

Question about ending trophies....

I found all 4 pieces of umbilical cord and beat Gerhman, triggering the Moon Presence fight which I haven't beaten yet. Once I do I'll get the Childhood's Beginning trophy but that'll trigger NG+, so is the only way to get Yharnam Sunrise and Honouring Wishes is to do each variant on the next two playthroughs? There's no way to go back and redo each fight with a different choice?

I really don't want to beat this game two more times just for two trophies. :(

Only by copying your pre-fight save to USB or d/ling it off PSN,

You can copy your save to a USB beforehand and restore after doing each ending. Too late now though. If your cloud save is before you did that you might still be able to do it.

I had a moment to think... a moment to just gather my thoughts about Bloodborne. Feels like I've been too entranced within its world that I've completely lost my train of thought for a moment. During my time with the game, it feels like a nightmare that is real, almost too real, but it's like a good kind of nightmare (I can't really explain). Yharnam is like the place you have nightmares about when you're a kid, you'd wake up and feel sweaty and tense, sometimes even crying (or screaming). *shudders*

It's more of a horror game than I thought it would be, there are a lot of tense moments that can get your palms all sweaty, there are also some moments in the game where you garner the anguish from all those lost Echoes... "Just more area before heading back to Hunter's Dream", you think to yourself. In an instant, in your own reckless abandon - a screen taunts you with YOU DIED. Determined, you make your way back to where you lost your Echoes to retrieve them, but only to make yet another mistake because you lost focus and underestimated your surroundings.

Any time I ventured forth into a new area, I always have Robert Baden-Powell's quote in the back of my mind:
A scout never is taken by surprise; he knows exactly what to do when something unexpected happens.

It's weird because the unexpected things in this game don't kill me, only the things I do expect. Sometimes, everything is right there for you for the taking, yet I'm powerless to do anything about it because I simply choked. That's the true nightmare, GAF. I hope it doesn't come true for any of you.

So it looks like I've met my nemesis in the game.
Martyr Logarius
bested me 7 times last night before I gave up in a huff.

I've farmed like crazy in the game and tend to return to hunter's dream as soon as I have enough echos for another level. I'll openly admit I'm not great at soul's games so like to over-level as much as possible.

My stats are:
  • Vit: 31
  • End: 34
  • Str: 32
  • Skl: 26
  • Bld: 10
  • Arc: 12
  • Right hand dmg: 334

I'm rocking
Ludwig's (+6), Tonitrus (+6) and Hunter's Axe (+6).
I'm not really sure what else to do to beat him. I've beaten 8 bosses so far and the most I've had to try is 3 times
(on Cleric beast right at the start).

I've watched a few vids
on how to beat him but, it may just be in my head, he seemed much, much more aggressive for me last night. In his second phase I don't even have time to heal once before he destroyed me in 2 shots.

Any advice other than git gud (as unfortunately I'm pretty much as good as I'll ever get)?

You should be fine with a +6 Ludwig's in 1H mode, I beat him on my first by just rushing him down and forcing him to melee me, then I'd parry all day with Ludwig's Rifle.

Here's my video on it:

Parry and summon one to help out. Or leave you psn and bloodborne running in suspense mode for 12 hours :p

The discovery skill makes it a lot easier, I find chunks on BB lizards pretty easy, every 1 in 3. A chalice levels below 3 is pretty good for them, walked out with 4 one run.

Hardest thing is that blood rock, one in every playthrough is fine but 10+ isnt worth the effort for such a weak stat boost. If that 10+ only felt worth the investment...

I made a video guide as well for him. I'm not a great player either but hopefully this should demonstrate what you need to do.

yeah, he's a motherfucker

i had to resort to poison knives for him, all 3 times i had to fight him. it only takes one for him to get debuffed, then you just wait him out and hit him whenever it's safe

luckily i had a bunch in my stash that i didn't realize were there because i never really looked at the stash tab

i'm currently levelling up with ludgwig's in mind, and I know that the softcaps for both strength and skill at 25...

my question is, once I do get the 25 for each, do I just abandon them and put points in health and endurance, or can i continue to level them to some degree?

I find it weird how different people find different bosses difficult. Is it the build/weapon differences?

For example I struggled with S
hadows of Yharnam
and O
ne Reborn
but thought R
om
and M
artyr Logarius
were pretty easy.

up to 50 str/skill

That's not a bad idea. What I did was get VIT/END/STR/SKL to 25 a piece then from there I took my VIT to 25 to 40 to make late game/chalices a bit easier. If you wanna do chalice dungeons or NG+ you'll have to go back to pumping up damage eventually. Depends what you wanna do first.

Hard cap is 50 for STR and SKL, I would boost both to at least, imo and put the rest into VIT and END for dat quality build.

I don't think I will ever get bored of this game. It really is something special.

I want to kill
Patches
The Spider but read that he appears
as a merchant in Chalice Dungeions.
. Worth it to keep him around?

edit: Also any idea what the PvP meta will be? I am not sure I will have time to make a PvP build, so I want to keep this character in balance.

Edge 10 score. Nice.

I didn't receive any trophies after killing my first boss.
Starting up the PS4 (not the game) now after a week of vacation I received five-seven Bloodborne trophies directly in the system OS. Seems like a fw 2.5 bug or cache delay.

Big spoilers in the "Favorite quote from villains"-thread.

Avoid if you still haven't beaten the game.

PvP will likely be 100 minimum and 120 maximum.

"What's that smell?" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Why isn't my small resonant bell working in cathedral ward? do you need to do something first in order to help other players ? Worked fine my first play through.
