Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

What's a solid gun for base level bloodtinge? I'm thinking of giving Ludwig's rifle a go since the base damage seems good with crappy scaling, but the starter pistol is so easy to parry with that I end up using that often.

I honestly think the crows might be the creepiest enemy for me. The way they are just spread out on the ground. The noise they make when attacking is just messed up. It sounds wrong. It isn't what I expect a crow to sound like. They look like birds, but they act nothing like birds. That's what make them creepy to me.

Piss easy to fight though.

Finished the game in 3 hours 20 in game time, not bad for a first attempt, i really need to learn some bosses patterns tho, i'm way too unprepared for a decent and more precise speedrun

The Gascogne glitch is a headache right now, can't seem to ever get in the right spot to throw him off

I was trying to bypass as much as possible to get the brutal blade, but need to get to upper cathedral. Thus, needed to kill him to open the door. I did killed Rom at lvl40.

Anything to make it an easier fight. BSB is a tough early boss.

So how am I supposed to get these mats for the Defiled Chalice? I beat the Lower Pthemiun Chalice last night and got the Defiled from it, but now it's asking me for mats I definitely don't have.

Ritual Blood (4) Need 9. Only have 1

Bastard of Loran: need 2, have none

Arcane Haze: Need 22, have 9
For ritual blood keep playing dungeons and you will earn enough eventually.

Bastard of Loran is in Ailing Loran Dungeon on the way to the third boss.

Arcane haze - You can get it at workshop table by using Arcane Haze Extractor. Basically, you extract haze from other chalice ingredients you don't need. Certain enemies can also drop haze.

So the first time I was in Hypogean Gaol there was
this girl crying but try as I might I couldn't get her to go to the Healing Church. Now that the blood moon is up and this place is filled with nightmares she is no longer there.
Did I miss my shot?

Yes, you needed to wear the
church (withe or black) or father gasgcoines attire to convince her.

The exact boss I'm on. Had him at literally one or two hits left and got cocky, ran in and got oneshoted lol.

I am at the same place too. Patience really needed. Will get him today. If I could kill
Loran Darkbeast
I can defo kill this bastard.

BSB not so badass when
I am lvl66.

I just helped someone beat him in their NG+. It was a flawless victory. I didn't get hit once. This boss is so easy to dodge. Any of you guys having trouble with BSB need to practice dodging more. Stay on his ass or sides. Don't attack him from the front.

Its amazing how people have such different difficulty levels with different bosses. I honestly think BSB is one of the easiest bosses for me. I killed him originally on my third try and his chalice version on my first try. Rom was the worst for me so far, with ~30 attempts or so. His chalice version wasn't too bad for me though.

I love this game but I gotta say I really don't like the Chalice Dungeon system. I'd like to get to the lower levels to see the new bosses but I dislike running the dungeons themselves. They seem like a grind and are not terribly fun to do.

It's this game's Black Bow of Pharos. It's base damage sucks, but it has really good scaling. If you have high bloodtinge, it's the best pistol, if you don't it sucks.

It's great for a skill-bloodtinge build together with the Chikage. Both have awesome Bloodtinge scaling and almost nothing has proper blood defense as far as I know.

Oh okay thanks, saving it for another build then.

So I just defeated the S
hadows
of Y
harnam
. Pretty fun bossfight, glad that big tombstone was there though.

I can't, for the life of me, beat ebrietas. It's the only boss I have left and I've died countless times, I may need a fellow gaffers help later

Is E
brietas
supposed to be difficult? I stumbled across her right after C
elestial
E
missary
without knowing what I was doing, and managed to beat her on my first attempt.

She was definitely the easiest boss for me so far... I even died to the W
itch
of H
emwick
once.

I did accidentally summon a cooperator due to not firing a silencing blank after the previous boss, but still, she seemed to be pretty easy regardless! Video incoming.

I posted the above earlier after fighting E
brietas
. Here's a video of the fight.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ-sDFIvtJ0

Some context: I had just beaten Celestial Emissary in one attempt (I found it easier than the Witch of Hemwick), although I had summoned help for the fight - not out of fear, but out of frustration from constantly being grabbed by those insight-sucking fuckers. We coasted through the level and wrecked the boss.

Afterwards, I did some exploring, smashed the window and found my way towards the Altar of Despair. Before entering, however, my Beckoning Bell summoned someone else, as I had forgotten to silence it. Curious, I made my way into E
brietas
' cave, and got really confused when my cooperator couldn't follow me - he was stuck at the entrance to the cave as if behind a fog door. However, no cutscene had played when I entered the cave, so naturally I was even more confused. I initially thought the big blue alien thing at the other side was similar to the Ancient Dragon in Dark Souls - a hidden covenant in an optional area. Upon approach, I was disappointed that I couldn't interact with the big blue thing.

At this stage I was convinced the game was bugged, so I returned to my cooperator who was desperately pointing me back the way I had come. After a few minutes of dicking around, I hit the blue thing to see what would happen. Upon seeing the name E
brietas
appear, I may well have shit my pants, as I had seen countless GAFfers compaining about her over the past few days. Terrified, I sprinted back to my cooperator to see how he would open the fight.

The rest can be seen in the video.

TL;DR - I accidentally stumbled upon E
brietas
and somehow beat her on my first attempt (albeit with summoned help).

The best boss in the game and probably top 5 in Souls series is at the end, which takes about 20-30 hours (post endgame) to reach.

It's too bad that locked such good content behind so much grinding.

Damn. I missed this as well. I need to focus on the NPC stuff in NG+ I missed so much of it.

Also does anyone else want to buy the collectors edition guide just because?

I do and I never buy guides.

Beat L
ogarius
yesterday.

Really cool fight. Loved the setting.
What happened after the fight was neat, too.

Although, it appears I have sent
Alfred to dispatch the Queen? I trust the guy, so I'm not too worried.
:)

Ok. Onward to N
ightmare of Mensis
. I'm a bit scared.
I'm at level 74, so I hope I'm ready for this!

Beat L

yesterday.

Everyone seems to have one boss that gives them shits, this is the one for me. I breezed through most of the other fights, and can even get this guy down to about 1/3, but then he goes crazy and I lose it. I would say I'm probably under-leveled at 61, but I've seen people do it lower than that. Ugh.

Maybe it's time I finally ring the chime.

So what should I put my points in to build up a character. I have been using Vitality mostly, but I am only level 18 at the moment...

Any ideas what works best, or what is the best path? Thanks!

I was really disappointed that each chalice area (Pthumeru & Loran, so far) all look the same. I thought they were going to be visually different looking dungeons. And they should have done it so that you clear the first chalices of each area before taking on central and lower versions of them. By the time I got to Lower Pthumeru, I was sick of the place.

All,
I'm about to fight
Amygdala in Nightmare Frontier
.

I'm lvl 71; anyone available to help?

I've recently defeated The S
hadows
of Y
harnam
. Took a couple tries but I've noticed something after watching vids of other people tackle them. They never
powered up and sent snakes after me, tried attacking with that long snake hand attack or spit fire towards me
. Did I do something to prevent all of that?

Insight is killing me... I've got 2 now. I lose so much to failed connections. My buddy and i keep trying to join up and it's a big mess of never working... we've tried various 'techniques' to connect and just can't.

What's odd is that we were able to connect 3 days ago just fine. And as soon as we drop passwords, we connect with randoms. But we just can't connect to each other.

I honestly think the crows might be the creepiest enemy for me. The way they are just spread out on the ground. The noise they make when attacking is just messed up. It sounds wrong. I don't know that they're the creepiest, but yeah, they're definitely wierd and growly and flappy. Super simple, except that time I underestimated them and died to a mass beaking while helping someone kill BSB (embarassing). Was totally my fault, I just ran into the center of them to attack and never got the chance.

That's a real shame because I'm probably going to give up before then. It's just not worth playing something I don't enjoy. I've never felt like I ever had to grind before in a Souls game to see something so that's very frustrating for me.

I just parried the fuck out of him with my pistol. To the point where I feel like I almost cheated the fight. Then again it took me 2 tries before I beat it, so I didn't exactly have an easy time.

no offense man but bragging about easy bosses and then having somebody help you on both of them isn't making you sound like a badass lol.

"These guys were so easy. I didn't need the help but I had it. #yolo"

I had a harder time parrying when testing the blunderbuss, but maybe the increased range could help with timing.

I've learned that with bigger guns you parry as the enemy is about to hit you. You might take some damage but you'll recover it with a visceral attack.

Exact same thing happened to me. Has to be this bug. From the get go my instinct was rum head on and dodge behind at last second (like practically every boss).

It did start teleporting randomly after about half health but same tactic yielded just that combo over and over after teleport. No purple mist, no clones.

Glad to hear that it worked for you too.

How odd! I'll give it a go on NG+ or the next character.

Does anyone else have an incredible hoarding habit when it comes to Souls games? I've so many items I've never used, the beast pellets, bone marrow ash, elixirs etc. All saved just in case and I never get round to using them.

Please try it. I'm really interested to see if this is actually a sure way to get her "bugged" out like that.

They really ought to patch it so that insight is taken after someone joins your world and not every time you ring the bell.

They change up a tad with some atmospheric effects but yeah. The chalice dungeons while repetitive felt like free DLC to me with some pretty extreme challenges and loot so I can't complain too much. Some of the bosses are very awesome too but later on they're controller, possibly system breaking bullshit. Still a nice hurdle to overcome. Let's just put it this way, I stopped last night to go farm some chunks in the unseen village and it was like resurfacing from hell.

The unseen village.

Yeah, it took me a few tries. The time I actually beat him I was just in the zone. My STR & SKILL levels are both around 30 or so, plus I have some big time stat scaling boosts on my Ludwig Blade. I was just taking chunks of health off his ass at a time. Pretty much hit and run tactics.
I was dodging & moving so much I really think I've destroyed my left analog stick. :/

Do I have to take on martyr logarius before I go for Rom in that area? He seems a pretty difficult boss. I opened up both short cuts but damn he is hard. I know he is optional but after Rom is that area finished?

uhhhhh... those two areas aren't really connected in anyway. You can do castle whenever After an earlier boss as long as you have an item

Ebrietas
is pretty tough. The first time I faced her, I registered TWO consecutive heavy attacks and they didn't register on her health bar. She killed me with like 10% of her health so that makes me pretty sour. She's been a tough fight so far, especially since the boss before her was incredibly easy.

I'd head back to the queen ASAP.

That guy was literally the hardest boss in the game for me. I'm guessing you don't use the gun like I don't, because I notice people that had an easy time of him parried em a lot.

You should be fine my friend.
Just stay on it's ass (or actually just behind it's ass) and hack away at the legs.
His legs take virtually no damage.

I have to hit the peanut in the head and arms. Oh well.. I'll give it a go. I grinded out 20 lvls since the last time we fought. Should be a breeze right?! :D

Rom is in Brygenwerth and logarius is at Cainhurst Castle you can do Cainhurst at any point and it is indeed optional. Brygenwerth is after the forbidden forest (different area). Beating ROM will stop you being able to complete a few quests in yharnam

Ignore this. Legs takevery little damage. head and arms take like 200% more damage.

Really? It was the safest place for me despite it being a bit of a slog. maybe I should have faced him head on.

what was your strategy for BLB? he's kicking my ass.

Honestly? staying under it and R2'ing its legs and ass with my whip. The foot stomp he does sucks so watch for that. Stay moving and dodge frequently but try and stay away from his front as it keeps him pretty confused and reckless. It's a suicide strategy but I got lucky with it.

Reflecting back on it, it was kind of similar to how I approached Amy.

I started trying to parry him the last time I fought him and it worked well until he started jumping around, then my timing was off. I'll stick with it though, it's time for him to go down.
