Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

Thanks for the video. Something is different though with how she acts with you versus when I faced her. My saw blade didn't slow her down at all, and took far less damage out. I'm thinking your axe has a degree of stun that's giving you those opportunities. Maybe Ludwig's 2 hand will do the same for me. I'll try tonight.

I kept hitting her in places that stunned her, like her right arm and face

I just parried the fuck out of him with my pistol. To the point where I feel like I almost cheated the fight. Then again it took me 2 tries before I beat it, so I didn't exactly have an easy time.

He's the only boss I found easy to parry. I think that's because if your timing is early, you still interrupt the attack, so there is little to no risk in attempting a parry. BSB and VA will punish you every time your timing isn't perfect.

I started trying to parry him the last time I fought him and it worked well until he started jumping around, then my timing was off. I'll stick with it though, it's time for him to go down.

Yeah, considering how aggressive he gets in the second half of the fight, parries are definitely the way to go. Don't even let him breathe for a second and he won't even
summon his swords bullshit.

I don't even think my parries with a pistol worked on VA lol. But yeah, BSB will make sure to fuck your day up good if you mistime a pistol parry.

So what should I put my points in to build up a character. I have been using Vitality mostly, but I am only level 18 at the moment...

Any ideas what works best, or what is the best path? Thanks!

Vitality and Endurance are a must for everyone. As for Strength or Skill, find a weapon that you enjoy using and put points into the skill that scales best with it. Same with Bloodtinge and Arcane, but you can ignore those for the most part, unless you really like the firearms or want to use gems to make your weapon a fire/bolt/arcane weapon.

Honestly? staying under it and R2'ing its legs and ass with my whip. The foot stomp he does sucks so watch for that. Stay moving and dodge frequently but try and stay away from his front as it keeps him pretty confused and reckless. It's a suicide strategy but I got lucky with it.

Reflecting back on it, it was kind of similar to how I approached Amy.

did you have auto-camera on or off? I switched it back on during main game since it caused the fog gate framerate issues and I think it's fucking me up. I tried going between the legs like I did with the easier version but he not only stomps his foot but he also does a ground pound which also hits me under him. man, fucking sucks.

How does everyone feel about there being content that you can miss? Content where you only have a small window of opportunity to access it? I really don't like it. I honestly don't see how you could ever reach all the content in this game without a guide. Especially with the strange NPC interactions. I mean I backtracked through every area, and I carefully searched, knocked on every door, etc. And I still missed ten trophies. I'll play through the game again, but there's still no certainty I won't miss content again!

Dark Souls was the same way. I never found all of the covenants despite pouring 100+ hours into the game. I really don't want to use a guide, but it's almost as if you have to if you want to see the full game. I think that's lame. There should be a little more direction in that sense.

safest path to do well in the game is to focus on quality build which is strength and dex about equally at least until level 25 on both of them. Then you can get a certain weapon That Scales Very Well With Both.

I never locked onto him as it'd just fuck me up. I ran between his legs, hit him once or twice and ran out. When he charged towards me again I'd dodge and run between his legs again and repeat.

Worked quite well, but he's fucking tough.

But that's the way it is for certain optional content in basically every RPG ever.

After B
lood-Starved Beast
V
icar Amelia
was relatively easy. Though I needed to change some tactics and swap to two handed axe.

The first one took me +20 tries and the latter only 4.

yea, my +10 Ludwig sword with buff only scratches him. I guess this will be quite an endurance.

I really don't care about missable content in FROM games. FROM games always have that social aspect where I talk about what happened in my game to friends or read
stuff up that happened to other players in forums etc. Playing the game through to ng+++, piece by piece I get the whole picture. It kinda just happens naturally for me that way.

So I just defeated the S
hadows
of Y
harnam
. Pretty fun bossfight, glad that big tombstone was there though.

Fun co-op too. Although having two players to target seems to break their AI at times and they will stand there blankly staring at you, lol.

Yeah I use the same weapon and my 2h swings were doing about 400-500 but not taking off much health. Took me several minutes to take him down and used most of my vials.

I think the souls games are meant to be a community effort to some extent. You aren't supposed to 100% it all by yourself. Personally I don't care if I skip content on the first playthrough. I use a guide on the second playthrough to catch everything.

Just beat the big boss [obvious spoiler]
................Gehrman..............
first try, amazing boss fight.

Now to eat some umbilical cords...

I've recently defeated The S
hadows
of Y
harnam
. Took a couple tries but I've noticed something after watching vids of other people tackle them. They never
powered up and sent snakes after me, tried attacking with that long snake hand attack or spit fire towards me
. Did I do something to prevent all of that?

It seems that leaving the PS4 on rest mode might trigger a bug that makes the bosses not to use all their movesets. You should do a full power down before going forward.

So if i do an Arcane build will i still have to pump points into str/skill or will the Arcane scaling and buff see me through? I'd want to put about 12-15 into str and skill, ignore bloodtinge and put everything into Arc, Vit and End.

If it means i'd be weak as piss physically though i don't think i'll bother.

Crowding them and going ham, sadly, works on almost every boss in this game. It completely trivializes most of them, too.

I believe that eating the umbilical chords after beating him won't do anything for you, man :/

Don't worry, I'm just gonna download my PS+ save and do the fight again. Kind of defeats the purpose of NG+ and NG++ doing this but I'm gonna do those anyway eventually so it shouldn't spoil it.

You don't have a choice for some bosses in the higher level chalices. You can't hang back and pick you spots for attacks on bosses like
phase 3 abhorrent beast
and
phase 3 amygdala
. They are too relentless/cover too much area with their attacks in those spots.

Some of the lamps are really weird. I just unlocked one and walked about 50 meters and there was another one...
I feel like it's a decision made to convenience the player.

After you defeat a boss you always get a lantern. That's so the player can immediately retreat to the dream and restock, lick their wounds and level up if they wish without having to go any further and risk losing it all by doing something stupid like roll off a cliff.

Arcane builds only scale off Arcane and do no physical damage, unless that specific weapon has Arcane damage built in (like Blades of Mercy).

I'm nearing 30 hours in and I haven't even reached
Forbidden Woods
. God knows how people have been completing the whole game in not much more time than that.

I can see why that'd frustrate some people, but there are people like me that appreciate the huge amounts of obscurity and depth to its lore/content. For years people were still finding new things to do/see in the older souls games and helped give them replayability. This kind of structure is meant for the people who want to keep playing and see everything (and help give players more of an incentive for NG+), and not for the people who just want it to be done with.

Long as you find a weapon with good arcane scaling and place an arcane gem in it.

I just started on Dark Souls for the first time having gone through Bloodborne 2 times now. The fact that you DON'T get a fire after beating each boss can be a real pain.

I just lost 30k+ souls while trying to get out of Blighttown (on a character who that represents 5+ levels for). This represents a series of poor decisions on my part, but I think the automatic lamps after boss kills are a really nice change.

Couple of end game questions before I continue:

The Living String needed for the chalice ritual (im guessing) is one enough or should I buy some more while I have the chance?

After defeating the final boss (obvious spoiler)
..........Gehrman........
do you go immediately to fight
......Moon Presence....
or can you return to Hunter's Dream?

Thanks.

It's annoying because I don't really want to go to NG+ yet until the elavator bug is fixed and I can fight
Ebrietas
. So may just decide to do the chalice dungeons now and play something else until the patch.

The fight starts automatically, but you can port out or simply die and you'll be back to Hunter's Dream.

Get killed by the second/use item to return When Second Starts

Forbidden Woods

I usually beat everyone in the area once and, on the subsequent runs, I just run past every enemy until I reach the next progression point. You know, the Souls way lol

dumb question but where can you see how much time you've played? I can't find that info in the game...

Arcane builds only scale off Arcane and do no physical damage, unless that specific weapon has Arcane damage built in (like Blades of Mercy).

Blades of Mercy only do Arcane damage when attacking out of a dodge or roll. You can tell because there will be a slight visual effect on the weapon and you can hear a unique sound while swinging. Otherwise, normal attacks do physical damage.

I'm really consider g starting ng+ now. My mind says no, my heart says yes.

From the main menu go to Load game instead of Continue.

similar question - do the vials get restocked between the two fights, or is it a one-time go?
