Oh fuck you F
orbidden
W
oods
, fuck you.

First major blood echo-loss of the game thanks to a combination of
the first snake-headed man
and
being one-shotted (the *actual* definition of one-shotted) by the radial damage from that cannon
when going back to try and recover them.

In frustration, I looked at a map and the shortcut to the first lamp is practically next door to
snake-head man
. For fuck's sake.

Just going to olympic-sprint it back through the area tomorrow. Not got anything to lose now :/
It's part of the game. If it makes you feel better I lost 20k blood echoes recently :)

...I guess the real thrust of my advice was, when you're there (stuck), don't run to a guide- come here and ask for a hint. Having a community to ask about things, and sort of control your own degree of spoilerization, really enhances the experience for me.

Oh, yeah, definitely agree with you there.

remember when Father G made your life hell, on your first playthrough?

now go, start a new character and summon him for the Cleric Beast fight.
he needs forever to kill normal mobs..

Alfred wasn't any helb either agains BSB.
he did like 30 damage with his kirk hammer.

How do you summon him for CB?

Edit: Found a vid on it. Gascoigne looks BOSS. Super intimidating even as a friendly summon.

What should I wear for protection against M
icolash
's bullshit attack?
Choir set as it has the biggest arcane defense. Also, in his first phase you can easily evade his attacks. In second phase hit him when he prepares to do a "firework."

ok Bloodborne, you win, I'm done trying to platinum you.

The Defiled Chalice isn't hard, it's cheap. Its difficulty done bad and I don't feel like mess with bullshit like this (yep, rage post, sorry bout that lol but I really hate when devs caps your characters for no reason)

I actually like it. It was hard as hell but it forced me to learn every move the boss learn to only attack when the opportunity presented itself.

That said having at least 1700 vit (after runes) is a must I would not get one shot by any single move the bosses did with that (
Amagdala's laser
would take me down to a sliver though)

Whoa you can summon Father G to fight the cleric beast? :o

Thought it was just Alfred.

I have never seen this move. All 4 times I have fought he I just poundered him in the corner with Ludwig's 1H w/ bolt paper activated.

I'm guessing that's a lhyl thing since we were about level in progress for the last few days? I was kind of hoping defiled would be the end of the torture. :/

The first two bosses can still be tricky, but either way I found it to be a relief to actually be able to get hit again.

I know, but I've had my rage moments with the Souls games before. This is just my first proper one for Bloodborne for 'wasting' my evening. :p

(I did pick up lots of Shards, so it wasn't a complete waste of my time)

I'm bored so I decided I'd rank the game's main bosses in difficulty (excluding Chalice bosses):

I lost 80k the 1st time I was in Forbidden Woods. I wandered around for an hour killing everything then stumbled onto the boss, paniced, died. Then I fell to my death trying to run back to it.....

Once you get to NG+ echos 80k is no big deal. I dont start thinking about my echos and protecting them until I am over 100k.

4th boss kill down!
VA took two tries, damn near failed it. Ran out of bloodvials, was down to one healing mist, and my fire buff just wore out. Saw she was almost dead though, and just yolod the last few hits trying to bring her down.

So, whos next? I assume its
Darkbeast P
but i'm not sure.

I can't for the life of me remember how to get back to the Unseen Village without the lamp. Or is that even possible?
???

The third headstone on the stairs in the Hunter's Dream leads there.

If you killed
Rom the spider
, there's a new entrance opened
to the right of the Grand Cathedral.

I had like 1100 HP base for defiled chalice. Watchdog was way worse than amygdala.

Yeah, I didn't get hit a single time by amy when I beat it. I found her super easy to avoid while I had to be on my toes the entire Watchdog fight.

In C
ainhurst,
every time I'm going to face M
artyr Logarius
, do I have to get through that room with th

?

Sorry for the late reply, but yes. Typing backstab on my phone is much easier :p
haha no worries, I was just making sure I didn't miss anything after my hour of intense but fruitless backstabbing attempts on monday.
Wait, so this game is about Werewolves?

I'm interested.
You will love the atmosphere and creature design on display here. If you don't you can hold me, Hawkian P. Wittlethorpe, personally accountable.

Is there anything in a first blind run that is so missable that if you miss it, it'll require 2 more playthroughs (that is, not just ng+, but ng++) for the plat? I don't mind doing a ng+ but timewise i don't know that i can commit to ++ for the plat unless absolutely required.

eh, i think once you're in that area, it's pretty easy to farm souls. I just beat its boss and am regularly running around with 50-80k souls just from looking for items there. So don't feel too bad. Losing souls/bloodechoes in these games feels way worse than it actually is.

lol, yeah you'll probably like it HP.

Yes, but you can run past them and
head straight for the ladder shortcut
easily.

My only loss was 100k echoes. At half health I was killed by sonic and then surprised by one of those grasshoppers. By then I was burning echoes anyway so no big deal. I'll probably clear 99 Bolt/Fire papers before too long.
BLB makes me wanna cry...literally
Fuck this, gonna farm and level up a bit. I almost got him but I'll make this easier for myself.
lol
Yeah after the ease of the main campaign the chalice bosses are a step up.
The last boss isn't nearly as hard, but there are more things to learn. It took me three tries because I was facing it tired and got hit by some mechanics I hadn't fully grasped yet. Easily one of my favorite encounters. Very refreshing way to end the chase for Platinum.

I agree completely. Had a great time taking down the tougher enemies.
I'm pretty upset these guys started showing up again in Chalice Dungeons.. but what is going on here? Wasn't expecting to run into something that looks staged like that in a Chalice Dungeon.
Yup, those things. In some areas they show up after you think you've cleared every thing. Those and the wailing running enemies are always the biggest threat to my blood echoes.

Beat VA earlier today. I stacked up on blood vials, molotov's, and quicksilver bullets for that fire weapon. I first studied her moves for a few rounds until I was ready. I laced her ass up with fire when i got close and some attacks with my axe. Laced her ass up with molotov's when I was far. When her health got low my heart was pounding like crazy. I was scared as fuck. lol. I tried not to give her a chance to heal. I nearly died when she had an inch of life left. Slayed her and a huge relief of energy left my body. Heart still pounding.

Felt good!

I've been playing for 35 hours so far. Do I suck? :/.....VA was my 4th boss.

I disagree with
Darkbeast Paarl
... I killed him with less than 1 minute without take any hit just pressing R1 lol

Vicar Amelia
is one of the easiest boss in the game too.

You guys made it seem like the 2nd boss in the Defiled Chalice was gonna be a nightmare -_-

Just 1 shot him, he has a very manipulative single cycle pattern.

R
om
was... Surprisingly easy.
Separate spiders, hack their backs one hit at a time, keep distance from Rom. Bolt paper, hack his sides, watch out for the very telegraphed sporadic attacks. Always keep enough stamina for 2 dodges, as that is enough to escape any of his area attacks, which are extremely easy to read; time for the sky icicles, watch ground for the ground ones, watch his glow for the explosion.
Ludwig's 2 hand mode is perfect for him.

I found the Cane to be great too. Cane mode while killing spiders whip mode when hitting
Rom

I just got to
Amelia
and I have to say I think this game is just as good as Demon's Souls. I loved Dark Souls and DSII but they since they kept up with the whole dark medieval fantasy setting like Demon's Souls it didn't feel very fresh. The gameplay changes and environment difference really go a long way to making Bloodborne feel great even to a Souls veteran like me.

Final boss spoilers

I normally don't summon, but I summoned for NG++. Everyone tends to die in one hit on NG++ too, because OH SHIT THIS IS NG++.

Anyway,

Fuck yeah, I summoned a guy for NG++ Gehrman and Moon Presence. He was really helpful, got me through Gehrman and then he died to the 1 HP attack on Moon Presence. I was able to beat the fight first try thanks to his sacrifice.

The only thing I have left is to finish the final Chalice Dungeon, then I've got my platinum. Time to beat the shit out of
The Queen.
