Your gems are fucking insane, where did you get them ?

Regular 18% one is from Unseen Village. The other two are from Chalice Dungeons, probably Lower Loran. Or maybe a cursed dungeon because they are both cursed gems (have negative effects)

Cursed Tempering Damp Blood Gem (4), Radial
Cursed Tempering Damp Blood Gem (5), Waning

You can get to another place on the second floor. You go there as part of the main story/critical path, so you can't really miss it.

You can only go there now. Later in the game you will open up a shortcut from Lecture Hall floor 2, which connects to nightmare of mensis, down to lecture hall floor 1, but that is a very late game area

thanks guys, and for the NF, is lvl60 a good level for the area? so many tough enemies

I can't decide which weapon to upgrade for my lvl4 run. I've been using the Cane because it has such good range, but I figure it's going to suck vs the tougher bosses. I really wish there were more upgrade mats available.

I used the axe, its entire moveset is usefull for different bosses, for example the R2 really shines verses the vicar since swipes can often miss but that vertical attack is guaranteed. L2 is super usefull for SoY and R
om
. The charging R1 attack is also really good for M
ergo
, G
the first hunter
, TOR. Really outstanding moveset design IMO.

Nope. Just beat
Rom
, and one of my friends told me I missed the boss
Paarl
. But I thought I'd explored literally everywhere I could up until that point. Unless they're something really obvious I missed.

No, you're good. After
Rom
is
unseen village
. Be on look out for 3 hunters. Boss in under them and in back of jail

Yeah, I was in the 60s when I did it.
Are there any way to avoid the poison deal in
Nightmare Frontier
?
I didn't find a way, but honestly it's not the end of the world. You can just keep rolling through it and ignore all the enemies(apart from the
frenzy brains
).

The boss may be tough at level 60 if you don't have his patterns down. He hits widely and probably quite hard at lvl 60 defense characters. Go slightly above that and you will have an easier time tanking his hits.

One more charged attack and he would be dead and he does a jump attack out of no where that one shots me...

I was so afraid of this happening. At the end of my fight I'm chugging vials left and right if I'm not at 100% health. One jump attack could have still ended it.

I saved the clip, might upload if anyone thinks it will be helpful.

YESSS Defiled Watch Dog down!

My strategy:
- Never be far away enough where he can use his charge attack. With 50VIT+10% rune, this can still kill me in one hit even if I was clipped by it, or leave me with 1HP
- I baited his swings and followed up with Burial Blade L2. If he got knocked down I got a couple more hits in but didn't stay greedy.
- When he switches his attack pattern, I played it very safe because I only got that far in the fight one other time. I didn't attack until he whiffed an attack I was familiar with.

Gems:
1. Physical ATK UP 18.2%, ATK vs open foes UP 4.8%, WPN durability DOWN -54
2. Physical ATK UP 21.5%, Boost rally potrential 2.7%, increased stamina usage 2.9%
3. Physical ATK UP 18%

When it hits for counter damage I was getting like 1450HP per L2. Not bad! Only seemed to be like 450 for a regular hit, crazy difference.

50VIT with 10% HP rune, max stamina +20%, fire damage +10%. Wore a mix of white church/charred/bone ash set for fire res.

Btw where are those sweet 19/20+% gems with no downsides?! I need way more radial gems, most of my good ones are crescent.

Holy shit your runes. Are those in the "story" chalices or root chalices only? I did the first stage and a half of the defiled and am now going at the Isz Chalice until I can get my VIT to 60 at least, but that 10% Fire DMG reduction rune would be wicked sick.

Well I just increased my Poison slow resistance to 352... I will try again.

That attack really got me because he never did it during the entire fight until that point. The upload would be helpful.

I got the stamina rune from one of the glyphs searching here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...mdV15tR9G0w2mbA/htmlview?usp=sharing&sle=true

Fading Lake (fire DEF) rune was from a Lower Loran root chalice I made I think, but I don't have the glyph anymore :(

Awesome, thanks. My friend told me I had to
die to get to him or something
. I was very confused.

Well, there is a way to get to the pre-version of that area and face that optional boss early. How you do it is like this:
Before Rom, let yourself be killed by the bag-guy enemy just outside of Cathedral Ward. Instead of respawning at lamp, that enemy will dag you to a new area that is way above your lv/etc

But like I said, that is the optional early access to area. You can get there normally now.

Not at all, the names of the altar's are irrelevant, you can put any chalice on any of them, makes no difference where you put them.

Doesn't matter where you place a chalice. You can multiple dungeons open at once, that's why there are multiple altars.

So are there enough alters for every chalice? I haven't counted them yet.

What happens if you 'erase' an alter? The dungeon (and your progess) is still there, right? You'll just have to reform it again with the necessary mats?

What armor should I be rolling with? Some of you look great. I just beat
Ebrietas
and I have the Charred get up.

Crowfeather for a while but now switched to Cainhurst armor. I don't think it matters much, you can get through the game with any armor.

right set for the place, wrong hat dude. Wear the right armor and weapons to meet that character.

Lol, I like pyramid head. :P The back of the cainhurst helmet has a ponytail that clips through the armor and looks weird imo. Big helms and hoods look cool in BB to me for some reason.

Gonna have to wait for a second playthrough. I killed that guy who gives it to you. :(

Any tips on how to beat R
om
? I'm getting my ass kicked here.
Ignore the spiders, hit him with your strongest attacks on his sides. You can attack while he's still teleporting. Run to his new spot and repeat. Run very far away when he does his AOE attacks and then run back in.

I'm almost at the end of my third Chalice Dungeon. I don't think this is for me, just don't see the appeal at all. Goes to show that the world design is a huge part of what makes the Souls games great. Running around in these stale dungeons, just to find materials to make the next one, just isn't doing it for me. I do appreciate that they didn't just rehash bosses and used new designs (even though they're probably all designs that were cut in previous Souls games). I hope I have patience enough to grab the trophy, then it's back to NG+.

Is there a good place to farm blood vials?

I'm a fan of this run. From Central Yharnam to the gate. Nets a bunch of vials and you can zone out while doing it, since it's so easy. There are probably more efficient routes though.

I personally swapped a lot. Different gear has different bonuses so there's a benefit to changing depending on what area you're in. For example I swapped to the Ashen Hunter set when I was going through the N
ightmare
of M
ensis
because of all the franzy shit, it was the set which gave the most resistance to it. N
ightmare
F
rontier
I used the White Church set because it had good poison resistance.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. I want the platinum, only missing the Queen one now, but I'm struggling to find the motivation. The dungeons are just so bland. Then there's the fact I'm having to find materials to unlock more of them, so I can't even just run through, unlock the boss door and do it for the bosses.

They became fun for me once they got challenging and started dropping better loot than the normal game. But the grind sucks and the first several dungeons are really boring when you are high level. The layouts don't get any more interesting but you get a feel of how they are laid out and can still speed through them.

depending on how fast you can take care of the executioners, my preferred spot is to start from the witches abode to the hemwick lamp post killing everything. 3 executioners give you 9-12; the big troll dude gives you 2. you also get a nice chunk of echoes to buy more vials or level up.

I can't believe I will finally start to play this gem tomorrow night.
As per tradition, a friend will come over with his PS4 and monitor and we will play face to face to each other, on our own through the game. "Playing alone together". We had so much fun in DaS and DaS II. (Played Demon with another friend - online tho).

We'll be marathoning the shit outta the game. Maybe we'll be finished by monday.

Yeah, it can be tough, unfortunately the boss after is worse. Key is to be very patient, you won't get more than 1 hit in at a time, you go for anymore and you're likely to get punished for it.

And the charge is the other pain as it is a OHKO, just have to fight him and learn the "wind-up" is for his attacks and know when you attack and when to play it safe, takes time but it can be done. A lot of side strafing helps with the charge attack since even though you might not time your dodge, if you are sufficient distance and are side strafing he will just charge past you and miss.

Yeah, I suspect my greediness is what's killing me. Since I'm mostly used to the saw cleaver, I usually bait him to do his side-bite attack so I can move up to his front right leg and hit him. A couple of attacks usually knocks him down, but if I'm unlucky he just stomps the shit out of me. Perhaps I should try to use the Ludwig a bit more, since its range is much better and I can usually hit his head with it.

isn't it more efficient to just buy blood vials?

not if you're dying a lot to a boss. it's easy to farm vials from Central Yharnam lamp area. I didn't really buy vials until NG+ where it gives you a ridiculous amount of Echoes per run. vials are much more expensive later in the game.

I make a run to kill
the three Executioner guys starting from Witch's Abode
for both their blood vial drops and to spend the echoes on maxing out my blood vials storage. Pretty quick to do.

Stack arcane defense through armor and runes and use bolt paper for extra damage. Kill the spiders at the beginning, then ignore the spiders after you reach the stage where Rom starts attacking.

I'll try this again:

Why can't I summon more than 1 guest? What do I have to do to summon 2 guests?
The bell is unusable after I ring it for the first time.
Is there a way to summon one human guest and a NPC guest? I tried it and it didn't work... :(

You wait longer. Once you ring the bell it continually searches until you get two helpers or you leave an area/attempt a boss.
