Cleared the 1st boss in Defiled Chalice. I won't take on the next boss for a while. But will move onto depth 5 loran chalice for now to get better stuff.

Does anyone know which Root dungeon drops the +15 HP Rune?
Also where does +10% Fire Res Rune drop?

Anyone know?

Just burned though NG+ last night from Father G to
Wet Nurse
and was wasting time trying to get Eileen to spawn to no avail, wanted her
Rune....
:(...really wanted the living string though for chalices. You can really motor through if you ignore optional bosses. A bit disappointed there isn't really anything new for NG+ other than more difficult enemies.

I prefer the Dark Souls 2 system with both flasks and consumables. Would be nice to have a flask like healing system, even if you only got like 5 of them.

If you're at a really tough boss that you know you're going to have problems with keeping stock up on vials, here's one thing you can do to avoid farming: Copy your save data after you have full stock on vials/bullets to the cloud or a usb. If you die too much and run out of vials, just copy your save data back to the PS4 and overwrite it.

good advice!!!! I have no choice but to resort to this. My only other option is to level up a bit more. I can tell
Rom
is getting easier with every level I gain. I'm 57 right now

I got the plat last night.

I would say that the plat in this game was probably the most difficult "challenging game-play-wise" whereas the others took the longest because of forced replays. The bosses in the chalice dungeons could be quite tough. Otherwise it was mostly not too bad. I think I got through ng+ in approx 4 hours doing only required bosses plus cleric beast.

Just cancelled my strategy guide preorder since I normally just use those to reference for platinum after a blind playthrough.

Bring on the dlc I guess?

So I have just
Gherman
left to kill now. Just a few quick questions.

1. I have 4 umbilical cords. Do I only eat 3 of them, or all 4?

2. Do I eat them before talking to
Gherman
?

3. I have only one blood rock. Hunters Axe or Ludwig for +10? Currently I have 40 strength and 25 skill. Both my weapons are at +9, but not sure which to go with. Prefer the moveset of the Axe, but Ludwig seems to be scaling better with more damage output, especially with gemstones attached. Thoughts?

how do you suspend this? I tried to do it by going to the menu and choosing enter rest mode and it just shut down the game. when i started the ps4 again it went back to the main xmb menu and when i started the game it booted from scratch and complained that i hadn't quit properly last time.

this was with the new firmware. i can't see any way to suspend it?!

why would you expect Bloodborne to let you suspend it is my question

(I'm honestly curious. Game doesn't support Pause as we all know)

how do you go to C
ainhurst
? I just defeated A
mygdala

There is a path from the forbidden woods that leads you back to isofka's clinic where an invitation is. You take that invitation to the
big rock in the valley
near the end of hemwick charnel,
and a stage coach arrives to take you there.

What's GAF's general consensus on the Stake Driver? I've started using it for my new character. It attacks much faster than I anticipated in its unprimed mode, and then there's this. But the moveset isn't as diverse as other weapons and the range is fairly abysmal. I'm thinking of restarting my play through and simply going with a dex build.

If you want damage, then the Cannon or Evelyn, I guess, if you only use it to parry, just level it up enough to unlock a gem slot. At least it's what I did.

I use a healing gem on my left hand weapon. It's absolutely useless, but I like the icon below my stamina bar :C
Cool... I will upgrade Evelyn... I'm at 20 Bloodline yet so I will boost it too.

The Canon uses too much ammo :(

it works for me, it resumes to where I was (unless my internet connect has a hiccup, and it dumps me back to the title screen)

mind blown, this game is huge, not looking forward to going back there to FW lol

1. Just 3 is fine

2. Before

3. Whichever one you like best. Personally I'd go for move set over damage.

Also, back up your save to USB/cloud if
you want to go for all three endings.

The PvP gets me super salty at times, but victories are so sweet. I think I am still playing it too much like DS2.

Yeah, I can imagine the satisfaction!
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of PvP because firstly, I don't want to be bothered by other players when I play the Souls games, I just want to explore in peace.
Aaaaand secondly, I suuuck. So I rarely play the Souls games online.
But hey, I want to git gud at PvP so I'm currently trying in BB and DS2: SotFS, lol.

ok so it sounds like it only works in offline, but will allow you to do it in online, and just boot you back to the menu when it starts. but i still can't find the suspend option in the first place...

PvP is fun, just wish it would take place more like in other souls games (aka pretty much anywhere randomly).

As you say, once you get more practice, you'll be fine. Feel like folks get too nerved up in PvP, happens to me too, but like any souls combat, the more you do it, the better you get as you learn tendencies and how to counter as you get more experience.

Yup, I should learn how to parry better too. I waste too much ammo. I have no problem against monsters and stuff, but I mess up a little against hunters, for instance.

Have you enabled Suspend/Resume in the PS4 settings? Once you do that, all you have to do is hold the PS button and go into rest mode. It will automatically suspend whatever game you are playing.

oh ok i guess i need to do that, i assumed it would be turned on by default..

Coming back to BSB with a big-ass strength weapon +4 and tons of antidotes. He's not going to give me as much trouble as he did on my first playthrough, I swear to god.

Really loving the Kirkhammer so far, but it has some quirks. For the life of me I still can't figure out why the R2 is so consistently weaker than the R1. I understand the weapon deals reduced damage with its AoE but the R2 seems pretty lackluster even in closest range.

I die probably an average of 10 times minimum before beating certain bosses, yet I never run out of vials.

If you run out of vials on a boss - yer doing it wrong. Don't even bother healing the first time or two that you meet a boss. If you have lots of echoes, use a mark and Awaken in the dream to spend them. If not - kite the boss for a few minutes and learn his attacks. After that, engage the boss - probably die - just don't heal. Do this a time or two more, until you can smack the boss down to about half health without healing - then you know yer ready to heal if need be, but you know you'll get the job done sooner rather than later, and you will only need to use a few vials.

Pthumerian Descendant
would have driven me friggin bonkers if I didn't follow this rule.

Have to say I enjoyed fighting the
hunter in byrgenwerth
in NG+...she gave me headaches my first time through...not so much last night, had to record the dismantling.

Is it worth it to put a fire gem in the scythe? What is the damage difference? Do you use just one?

Also curious to know the kind of use you have for the Augur, I only really use Tiny Tonitrus and Beast Roar.

Got dang. No mercy. How you liking the burial blade? Very eager to use it one i hit NG+

I have a new bitch and her name is Byrgenwerth hunter :P...on topic, Burial blade is great, love it, considering how hard it hits it is very fast with good range. Cane is faster (only other weapon I've used extensively so far), but not by much, love the move set. Fast enemies will break your combos though (dogs/werewolves/some other ones too, can't think of them), unlike the cane which is a bit faster and can more easily maintain stun locks for combos.

If there is a downside I'd say the transformed state looks cool, but really hasn't been useful for me, big groups of easily stunned enemies that are your size it is good...I don't get a lot of use other than that.

Does it matter if I use a:
Pthumeru Chalice
a Root Chalice
or a Central Chalice?

Root chalices are randomized dungeons which you'll acquire during the dungeon you're currently making your way through. So you'd get the Pthumeru root from doing Pthumeru.

iirc Central is the depth 3 chalice that follows Pthumeru which is 2

Sure? I was thinking a maxed Ludwig might help in NG+. Then again, the Axes R2 may come in handy with crowds in the Chalice Dungeons.

I think the key is to just stock up regulary and dont use all your echoes on lvling up. There are some points in the game where you can stock up reaaally fast. Like after you kill B
SB you can go to unseen village and farm the bag guys for shards, use the echoes to buy vials. I had 99 vials, 99 molotovs and a bunch of shards after 30 mins in that place

Really? In the late game i just go to areas with lots of echoes from enemies and just buy them for 20.000 - 30.000 echoes. Way from Witch's Abode lamp to Hemwicks Lane crossing gives you a lot of echoes and the hooded axe guys sometimes drop 4 viles (there are 3 or 4 of them this way). At lvl 60 onwards, you don't need every echo for leveling and your weapons should already be pretty much over +7 so echoes are not that important anymore for leveling.

I am not doubting you but you are still kind of proving my point. It's a grinding mechanic that is mostly unnecessary and adds a level of tediousness to the gameplay, however small or trivial you perceive it.

For instance you can go ahead and get 99 vials but if you are trying to get through some tough chalice dungeons or a particularly difficult boss. Those 99 vials can diminish rather quickly. So then we are back to my point about now having to grind for echos or vials to replenish.

To me it just comes down to the argument that there really isn't a good argument for the vial system over the estus flasks. At least not when I weight them against the negatives.

But to reiterate this is one criticism in what I consider an otherwise nearly flawless game.

Had my first controller-throwing moment last night. Well, punched my chair a few times. Got frustrated as hell with the insight-sucking
Mindflayers in the Upper Cathedral Ward

The usual. A good run cleaning out the area, got killed by the last enemy left. Went rushing back in sloppy and got killed right away. Tried to be good and take it slow and got cheesed through a wall. But then was able to run past and make it where I needed to go. With one vial left was able to beat that boss. Phew. But those things are sneaky as hell. Can grab you through animations and whatnot. damn.

This is really excellent advice and mirrors how I've played as well.

I just did it again and it was identical as far as I can tell.

First and last are "story" chalices. They always have the same layout, bosses, and loot.

The Root chalice will create a random dungeon every time. You'll eventually get harder root chalices as well (i.e. a Central Pthumeru Root Chalice) that lets you increase the difficulty of the random areas.

Okay so after I use the normal Pthumeru Chalice on a dungeon and I get the Root Chalice from it does that mean I remove the Pthumeru from the orginal altar and put the Root Chalice in next?

So would you recommend going through all 4 altars with the Pthumeru Chalice and then doing it again with the Root Chalice at each one.
The Altar you do it at is just affects the difficulty right?

on the way to
Rom
there is only one mob.

This game WILL run you out of vials if you have trouble beating a boss.

I really miss Dark souls. I didnt have to grind my ass off to restore estus flasks (for those that didnt play, they were auto refilled). But in this game keep needing vials. Most of the time I really hate this game I cant lie. I just hate the blood vial grind

They're so cheap...I've played grindy games and vial runs just don't even begin to compare IMO.

Also, as it's been said - stop popping vials when you're studying a boss. Wait until you're confident with a strategy after dying a few times.
