So I apparently just beat the game, completely by accident. I honestly thought I had been super thorough in going through locations and had a small list of still closed/locked doors left, and now in skimming the thread I'm seeing people mention all kinds of bosses and covenants and shit I never even saw. What the fuuuuuuuuck. Am I totally boned on going back? I really didn't want to start NG+ ;_______;

Do you have PS Plus? it might have auto backed up a save from yesterday (er..or the last time you played would be more accurate). so you would only lose progress from today.

Check the online saved files from the PS4 settings.

That will be your only option I think.

Maybe you have an old enough backup save in the PS+ cloud?

Any tips on how to kill those black dogs that have a person walking with them (you 1st see them in Central Pt chalice d3)

I have cleared them many times but the only way I can do it is by Unloading cannon on them. I literally get mauled to death once they reach me. They attack so fast you can even roll. I would say 2/3 of my total non-boss chalices deaths are to those black dogs.

I like the Isc chalices because I never saw that mob... lol
Don't feel bad because you're not the only one. It's bad enough that they attack fast, but they can also stun lock you which usually means death. I grab their attention and attack one by one.
Uncanny/Lost versions of weapons have different blood gem slots (triangle instead of crescent or vice-versa). Lost has one of each slot type.
Damn these weapons are awesome for PvP. The actual dungeons are tough though at lower levels. So that begs the question: should the meta level be higher for PvP? I imagine people will want these weapons.

I'll check the cloud saves. How much harder is NG+ exactly? I think I was overleveled by the end (83), so I might not mind too much starting over depending.

But yeah, I must be a total idiot because I clearly missed chunks of the game. The only NPC's I ever found out and about were the crow lady twice, the guy at the church, and the one on the first floor of the lecture hall. Never found a covenant to join, only found one of the items you apparently need for the true ending, there were multiple locked doors I still had. While it's awesome that theres apparently a lot more for me to see I feel like I must have missed some obvious shit despite my best efforts.

I feel you there. I need to check the cloud saves like the others recommended. I swear off guides on the first playthrough and had no idea I was about to trigger a point of no return. Honestly, although I never intended to do a NG+, the game was amazing enough to pour more time into. For the people here, should I go and play Dark Souls 2? I played Demon's and Dark 1 when they first came out, but missed DS2 in the generation transition.

Yeah I cheesed the fuck out of those guys. I had them chase me to a cell room and closed the door and attacked them through the bars. I do not know anyone who took on all three at once and won...

I ran them up and down the stairs and unloaded all of my molotovs, knives, etc etc. Does this count? lol. It was definitely cheesy.

Edit:

I think I'm level 80 and I ran through the start to the Cleric Beast and one shotted him on NG+ in about ten minutes.

Platinumed! Lol that last playthrough I just ran through the game and beat it in less than 2 hours.

What can I say, an amazing ride. Never before has a game made me scream WTF so many times. Never before have I been so engrossed in the speed of combat, literally smiling my face off in PVP and against hunter NPCs.

At the end of the day I'd have to say Bloodborne>Dark=Demon's>Dark 2. Absolutely loved this game to pieces.

You have to try and pull them with pubbles.
Try to pull them way back and then always get behind them. They turn really slowly. If you try to get in hits while seeing the space between their eyes there's a good chance they will snap out of it and stunlock you for a lot of damage.

Anyone feel like frenzy build up after you kill the enemy is bugged, or that it really is intended to be like that? 458 frenzy resist and it just keeps climbing. I imagine they want it that way...but it's strange.

That's something that annoys me in the Souls game, too. The more resistance you have, the longer the bar, but it doesn't return to baseline any faster. So even when it takes longer to get poisoned, it takes longer to return to normal...so I just use the cure item anyway. Lol idunno

If you run in front of those enemies and then go hide immediately the bar will get like 80% full and slowly tick there. It's just the way frenzy works I guess, one 'hit' almost fills even with resistance.

pebbles are you friends with those things. Fight them 1 at a time and dodge into the attack to get along side or behind them then stun lock them to death.

like i said, you shouldnt have to farm vials...I realize there are differetn skill levels, but this is a different series adn a different game within the series....I am saying you are playing outside the intent if you have to farm too much...especially for 15 minutes. This was my early game "farm" location, although I wouldnt call it farming, nor boring, because I had a lot of fun with it.

But you do have to farm vials if u run out. No question about it. The game demands it when you run into a situation or boss that kills u a lot. Just knowing how to beat something isn't even enough as u still have to execute it well. This takes practice. Practice takes mistakes. Mistakes drain blood vials. Bosses dont give blood vials, they drain them.

So after beating the game I think this new IP could reach a Souls level, I mean we could get Bloodborne 2 or 3 in the next years . The Lore and the differences with Souls games make me think this could happen with out one franchise affecting the other.

Surely will be DLC that explain or perhaps makes more obscure the lore and story , but there is a loot of room to expand the IP to future stand alone games.

I just ran backwards up and down the spiral steps and they politely took turns attacking me. :X

Dumb question but can someone explain arcane damage to me pls. My Ludwigs holy blade apparently has B scaling in arcane but my attack rating doesn't seem to increase when I try to level it up..

Arcane scaling will only take effect if you plop an fire/bolt gem on the weapon. You'll scale off arcane then, but lose all your str/ski scaling.

Arcane only scales in conjunction with str/ski if the weapon has innate arcane damage.

You need to put an Arcane Damage gem in your weapon for the Arcane scaling to take effect. Once you have that gem in, the weapon will only do Arcane and Strength/Skill will not affect your damage.

my current build

70 vit (1860 vit with 10% rune, once I get the 15% rune I should be able to be 2k hp)
40 end
50 str
50 skill
15 blood
15 arc

From here on out I am going to alternate vit and blood until i get vit to 75(prob leave it there) then put the rest of the points into blood.

I see no reason to take arc past 15 (required to use echo plasm shell).

Right now depth 4 is easy, depth 5 is medium(meaning I just have to pay attention). I think I am ready for those chalices with multiple rites.

Damn, DarksydePhil, is that you? Lol, you're like hilariously overleveled even for Depth 5.

Ah okay, I might not bother then if you lose str/ski scaling. Thanks!

I just can't do
ebreitas
anyone fancy co op ? I'm level 75, can't find any co op partners whenever I search this is doing my brain an injury

well I have now platinumed the game 2 times (minus the endings which I could have just reloaded saves to see them again if I wanted).

Got the plat on my 1st char, and I just beat Ithyal Chalice last night on my 2nd.

I felt required to do this because I duped my 1st char from lvl 90-180. I now feel like I earned it.

Thank you From for removing the dupe patch. I have no self control when I see an exploit. It makes finding things like blood rocks and chunks exiting again and the feeling of progressing levels really gets me into it.

No particular reason, I just like the intro to Old Yarnham.

Managed to grab an old save from yesterday which is fine, the only thing I'd done since then was kill
the wet nurse
, which should only take me like 2 minutes to run to. Skimming a FAQ now (which I'd generally avoided)....and yeah I missed a ton of shit. Almost thinking I should just re-beat the game. Looking at the guide, I completely missed:

-That you could just not kill the gunner NPC and talk to him (still not clear on how to achieve this but sure).
-Arianna, no idea where this person is, never saw her.
-Apparently there is another NPC near Arianna that you can send to clinic or church.
-COMPLETELY missed the way back into the clinic from the woods; this one was at the top of my list the whole game since I could never find the back way into the game's starting room as well as the locked gate to the right outside of the clinic. Fuck me.
-COMPLETELY missed Cainhurst. Again, I am apparently an idiot. This apparently also as a result caused me to miss several following NPC interactions.
-This FAQ says there is a guy on the roof in the woods you can send to the clinic or church, I'm guessing this was the beast guy who was eating those people? I straight up killed him, I never saw a Talk prompt so I backstabbed him and then cheesed him by falling off the roof, maybe I missed it? Or if it's referring to someone different no idea.
-I missed the chest in the Unseen Village that you had to drop down into the cage which had the key to unlock the door at the top of the workshop tower. I found the chest area, but I was still meaning to go back to try to figure out how to drop down into the cage from above.
-You apparently can go chat with the huge multi-eye thing you drop out of the Mensis' Nightmare?
-I never figured out the right way to drop down in the workshop tower to get to that door haflway down; I saw it on my first visit there, and I'd tried a few ways to get to it but wasn't getting it. I'll need to watch a video or something for this one.

So yeah, I only got one of the
cords
. I feel stupid :( Since I missed so much, at this point should I maybe just rebeat the game? It seems like a lot of the NPC stuff gets locked after you
kill Rom
.

On the plus side I suppose I got one of the ending trophies out of the way so that's good I guess? Also I'm relieved to know that the locked door in the room with all of the pots and the chest apparently doesn't open for anyone right now, DLC maybe?

I remember reading about soft caps where u should stop adding points to a certain attribute. I dont really understand this...is there some kind of trade off with having a shitload of health?

I made a new character. Didn't like NG+ (so boring).
And wow...the Threaded cane is so much fun. I love this weapon. Switched from Str. to Dex. build and I don't regret it. Fuck Ludwig's Holy Blade, lol.

Most Underrated weapon. Been using it since day 1

I've been switching between the Cain and Blades of Mercy lately

What is the point in having tons of insight? Is there some benefit from using all of my madman knowledge? Other than buying stuff.
