Is it just me or do the Souls games always lose a bit of steam in the later half. I beatand now I've mostly been warping around the world talking to npcs and deciding on what location to tackle next. It reminds me of Dark Souls after Anor Londo. I prefer the more cohesive adventure of the first half, especially because warping to the hunter's dream and then warping to whatever location you want to check is such a chore. I'm still enjoying it though and I'm definitely going to finish it, I just wish we could have a Souls game once that actually sustained that feeling of adventure that so characterizes the first half of these games all the way to the end.Rom
Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne accelerate their pacing in the back half by becoming more linear, which I prefer. If the game uses a non-linear approach for required areas, I'd rather see that stuff packed into the first half like in Dark 2 or Demon's (which is the entire game, to be fair, but it's presented upfront). Not even speaking of the quality of post-Anor Londo areas in Dark 1, the non-linear structure of the back half kills the momentum for me.
Some BB structure spoilers for where you are:
If you simply run forward after defeating Rom and keep running, you will eventually get to the end of the game's required content. It's linear from that point. Actually, I don't think there's ever a point in the game where the player can tackle two or more required areas in any order.
