Awesome to see Urich is in this. I know Pants played him in the movie, but I forgot that he's a big part of Daredevil's world.

Do they ever call the Kingpin by his title? I wonder if like Urich not working for the Bugle they can't use the name because of Spider-man. Also, I wonder if Urich's thing is like Kingpin, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch, since he's almost as much a part of Spider-man as he is Daredevil so the deal would have to be interesting.

Just finished the season. That was a great ride. Just very good entertainment. Some minor flaws here and there but nothing too annoying. Loved the fight scenes and the cinematography as a whole. Great cast too. And I like it how Fisk get's a lot of quality time too. They've really took care in building the characters.

the part where matt gets grabbed by the blind people?

Yeah. It ruined the rest of the episode for me.

Not only do they do that, but they show all the workers working happily in a later scene. It's so sloppy and it undercuts the drama. It was also the only episode that used a cheap dream plot-point for additional drama. Weak directing, and weak editing.

Pretty good show. I enjoyed it. Although I gotta say I found it really slow at times with a bit too much Foggy/Karen for my liking but I guess that's needed to fill a nearly 13 hour series.
The episode with Stick was easily my favorite.

I don't get the Foggy hate. I laughed every scene he was in when jokes were abound. The friendship between him and Matt felt so genuine and reminded me of me of how me and my closest friends talk to each other. His acting seems fine to me anyways.

Just finished episode 5 - I'm not very familiar with the comics so I've only seen the portrayal of Fisk in the Daredevil movie/animated show universe. But I really like what they're doing with him so far, he's a very compelling villain. This is shaping up to be a really, really great series if they keep up the tempo for all thirteen episodes. I really am starting to dig how Netflix does TV shows now.

Wow, Mighty Ducks is really butchering Foggy Nelson.

First big blunder of Marvel casting.

I really like Foggy. Him and Karen seem to play off each other really well, so far at least.

People can lay off with the "Loki is the only good MCU villain" stuff now too. The average person is probably much more scared of a crime lord on that level taking over their neighborhood than whatever corporate squabblings Stark is having this week. D'Onofrio made this character his much in the same way RDJ made Iron Man his.

Stick is awesome.

My favourite character by far in the show, kicks over anthills and makes things happen.

PACING SPOILER (nothing specific):

I think the show is let down a bit by not having threads for its characters, Stick should be in the beginning of the season and show up consistently.
Instead of training him for one episode and then leaving him, no way did he get to that standard so damn quick
. As should other characters like Kingpin and Foggy/Karen/Nurse. They all seem to fade in and out and some episodes have very little to contribute, so they don't progress as characters or hit the reset switch until their reappearance.

Which I find odd as Spartacus as a comparison with less time had loads of character work for at least 5-6 people per episode, where this focuses on maaaybe 2-3 and doesn't actually get much done.

Love the show, but find this to be its main weakness so far.

Fisk is the best and scariest villian in the MCU IMO. He owned that role.

lol at the Netflix spoiler...they dont care about spoilers(its a mild one I admit but I understand why some people may not like it),I bet they will hear about this on Twitter or what now...they should of kept the original screentag, just showing Murdock's face with the round sunglasses...

Yeah, I don't really see why they changed it. I personally don't care that much. But since the suit is revealed so late in the season it's obvious that it was intended to be something the audience should look forward to.

He looks badass suited up by the way. Can't wait to see more of that next year.

Fisk is far and away the best element of this show. Ben Ulrich was solid as well.

Everything else ranged from just competent to disappointing. The action was superfluous and honestly hilarious. All that spinning and flipping was so goofy to watch. The Oldboy homage in episode 2 was the highlight - enough for me to forgive how laughably incompetent these goons are with guns, and those weird wall kicks Matt likes to do. The surveying camera shot which went to and fro was a nice touch.

Back to Fisk: he's easily the most well built villain in the MCU, and by far the most interesting. D'Onofrio's portrayal gave life to the character. His measured cadence and sometimes childlike disposition were well worn. It was a memorable role that allowed a lot of the scenes in this show to work. He truly carried the momentum every time he showed up.

I get back from holiday and I have an awesome Daredevil series waiting for me. So glad it's living up to my expectations so far. Just finished episode 2. My jaw just about hit the floor at that ending :O Easily one of the best fight scenes filmed in a long time.

I'm okay with guys not being able to shoot Matt since his abilities and agility allows him to dodge bullets.

Honestly astounded by how good this is. I want a punisher show by the same folks.

Amazed by the violence too.
If only we can get a Blade series on Netflix, so this thing can be wiped from our memories like the DD movie was

7 episodes in. Thus far, I've been truly pleased with how it's been handled. Really enjoying Cox as Matt, and the rest of the cast is doing a fairly competent job.

Fuck yea, we need vampires in the MCU.

My fream slate for a second set of netflix series would be

Daredevil s2
Heroes for Hire(Iron fist, Luke, and JJ team up show)
Blade
Punisher

So my thoughts for the season are ....

The show is very solid stuff. The creators know the formula to great television, and generally execute it well. It reminded me of the Dark Knight trilogy, Dexter, Damages and The Sopranos in a way. All good stuff.

My main issues with the show is that I found it way too predictable. I have not read the comics, really I know nothing about it, haven't read any spoilers, but I guess having watched a lot of the things that I have mentioned, they do make it easy for me to spot what's going to happen, and how things are going to fall into place.

The acting is good from pretty much everybody except for the two major supporting actors, Foggy and Karen. They were trying to act a little much and they never really improved at all which I found distracting. The fight scenes were decent, but the impact of the hits being edited in the usual American way and the sound effects made them sound weaker.

Also I know it's a television show based on a comic but I really didn't need to see an overly serious Japanese guy be business man, a Yakuza and a ninja. Oh and the Daredevil costume looks dumb.

Nonetheless I did binge watch the show over three days, so a lot is done right. I especially liked the development and complexity of the big baddie. I also liked the darker tone which is a plus when considering its a part of the MCU. Boobies would have been nice but whatever.

8/10

Up through the end of ep. 4. Kinda shocked how violent it is. Does it continue to get more violent and/or stay the same?

Fisk knocking that guy's head off. Eugh.

The end of 3 and that incident in 4 are about as bad as it gets, as I recall.

Thanks. Is it consistently that bad for the rest, or is that kind of the apex of the extreme violence/gore?

That's the apex. End of three had me straight wincing and that bit in 4 was a little over the top, but from there I don't recall anything near those highs of brutality.
