Awh he won't actually have bright purple skin? I guess that makes sense

A cool way to do it would have him turn purple to whoever he's using his powers on, like some hallucination thing.

Dunno whether this is an on-set shot or whether it's just Tennant walking around before make-up. Who knows. I'd like them to do purple skin, even if it is like you say.

Now that I've seen Daredevil, my interest in this show has gone up 10x. Hopefully we get it this year. The constant stream of MCU content has been great.

Won't Jessica Jones be kind of boring?
I mean what would set it apart from say ALIAS or La Femme Nikita?

Or will they have an episode where she snaps and goes full power on someone turning them to paste and then Matt Murdock has to play defense attorney while Iron Fist and Luke Cage take down the bad guys?

Purple Man not actually purple? Marvel pls

Why would it be boring?

If the Purple Man is the villain, it'll probably be a lot more psychologically horrific/traumatic than either Alias or Nikita ever were.

Also superpowers.

Also, Jessica isn't a spy, she's a detective. Alias and Nikita are both espionage programs in the vein of Agents of SHIELD.

I haven't read the comics for this, only the descriptions people have posted here, so I may be totally wrong, but does anyone think the Purple Man stuff will be flashback type material, sprinkled throughout, to add depth to her character over time? Then maybe he'd show up again in a more present day focus later on for the arc of the season.

Isn't the whole point (of the MARVEL MAX series at least) that she doesn't use her powers or nullifies them because they can be abused?

The fact that Max comics isn't on Marvel Unlimited, a subscriber service therefor a service that requires a credit card, which children cannot own, annoys me to no end

Still holding out hope that Purple Man actually turns purple when he uses his ability

Or maybe later in the season she (or someone) puts her hands on his face and surprise, it's makeup and he's actually purple (like Nicholson Joker)

I wonder if they're gonna make him a complete, sadistic, and total monster to contrast him to Daredevil's Kingpin whose a bit more three dimensional or if they're gonna make do something closer to Hannibal and Kingpin and make him have other facets.

But I think the nature of the character makes it necessary for him to be the most rotten son of the bitch on the face of the earth.

Well that is what he is, he is completely irredeemable. Mandrill had the same powers and at least he fought for race equality sometimes

Is this dark and gritty like Daredevil, or light-hearted colorful superhero romp? That purple clothed shot makes it seem like it's going to be a vibrant, fun series.

Purple Man is joyful

LOL this is adult. It deals with betrayal (I wonder if
they keep the avengers beating the shit out of her stuff and not really apologizing
, sex, violence, rape (i count Purple Man as a rapist ), lots of grown up gritty stuff. One o f my favorite series of all time.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! This is so adult that 36 year olds will be calling for an adult.

If they follow the story, the think pieces will be hilarious.

Her and Matt sound like a perfect match then

Right idea, wrong hero.

So they could keep the power of flight but make it more of a liability than an advantage. Flying takes some CGI money and for a Netflix budget thats clearly not possible.

Is being able to fly confirmed?
That would be a kind of power one might want to lose on a TV budget.

She doesn't use her powers much. That's the entire point of the character, she retains the abilities but chooses not to use them.

Most likely.

If I had to guess, not as dark as Daredevil on a regular basis, but it will go to some dark places. Alias is mostly a straightforward detective book, with a detective that take it and dish it out when she needs to. Generally, she skips flight altogether.

Here's the full story if you want to understand.

I honestly won't care too much if he isn't purple.

Tennant is fantastic, that's all that matters.

Have to say I wasn't sure how Jones would be, but after Daredevil, I trust them to deliver. I think this could be a really unique entry into the Marvel cinematic roster, and considering how well Daredevil handled it's themes and portrayal, I'm very hopeful for this now.

And Tennant is going to be so interesting to see.

Really looking forward to this, having just finished Daredevil. I've got the Alias omnibus that I still havent cracked open to get me ready for this.

DAMN IT. I was wondering why there was such a huge crowd of people in Union Square on the night of the 9th, but I just shrugged it off. Feels bad, man. I'm glad though that they're not making the Purple Man actually purple, for largely the same reasons the Kingpin wasn't 300 pounds and wearing a white suit & ascot. I feel that there's only so much you can get away with by using the reason "It was in the comics." And especially in this new girtty & realistic subsection of the MCU. Although, I was bummed when they made Daredevil's final costume
resemble the 90s EXTREME armor variant.

We don't know this.

Don't really need Purple Man to be purple.

This is one comic-book transitional change that doesn't bug me one iota.

I completely agree. Could easily say he's making people perceive him that way, or have him wearing makeup.

Also, thanks to whomever (EDIT: MHWilliams) posted the imgur link before, I knew about Purple Man but had never seen those panels.
