Holy fuck, episode 4. And that's why Netflix shows are so awesome.

Finished another 4, so up to episode 8. Still really enjoying it, not in the mood for writing detailed impressions, but in episode 8,
the Kingpin flashbacks were really well done.
Loving this show.

already seen it on 10 right now, does ep 8 say anything about him having something I can not remember, spoiler tag it if you mind so no one else sees

I don't think it needs to be spoiler tagged. It doesn't look like he suffers from any particular condition as a kid. I think when you see Fisk in meetings that's him gesturing and trying to live up to this larger than life persona. Being a man as it were.

I don't think Fisk has anything in particular.
I think he was just the loser fat kid that had an exceptionally assholish father. When he wasn't beating him he was finding other ways to hurt him. Being called a pussy and less then a man and needing to decide if he wants to be a man etc

So Wilson grew up a disturbed individual. He achieved power and in doing so was forced to hide himself even more to the point he didn't even go out much.

Throw it all together and you get the Man who believes he is doing good at any cost until he see's himself for who he really is. The Monologue in the last episode in the Truck gives a good insight

Okay. Ep 7 question about Stick's motives (which are obviously a lead-in for season two).

Were they implying the Black Sky kid was an Inhuman?

No.
The Hand has many mystic weapons, and Nobu called it "the bringer of shadows" or whatever. It's more likely a demonspawn of some sort than anything to do with Inhumans.

On a side note, it was pretty funny that the cargo crate they were unloading in the episode was labeled Asano Robotics in Japanese. The easter eggs in the show are pretty good!

Hm. Really odd that would be a one-off episode.
Totally throws the tone off.

I think it's pretty important for setting the tone for places the show will eventually go to in the next season. Better to do it now when everything is being established, than for it to suddenly come up later on. Since the 80s Daredevil has had a mystic element to it, so if they're going to do it at all, they have to acknowledge it.

Wilson is the exact kind of person a man like Herc would raise.

- When Gao said her homeland was a considerable distance farther from China, was she talking about K'un-L'un? I kind assumed so given the other Iron Fist related nod (The Steel Serpent insignia)
Yes, I definitely think so. Add in
her kung-fu palm smackdown
and I don't see how it could mean anything else. Funny how there's not really any groundwork for
Luke Cage or JJ
but tons and tons for
K'un L'un and Iron Fist
.

I've watched the first 4 episodes. I felt like the acting was a little iffy in the first episode, but since then I haven't had many problems with it. Either it got better or I got used to it.
The show's great though. So far it's easily my favorite thing Marvel's done (yeah, I prefer gritty superhero stuff over the more fantastical shit like Avengers). The action's really good; reminded me a bit of movies like The Raid at times, which is pretty fantastic for a TV series. Looking forward to seeing the rest.

All I know is that when my friends and I were watching the flips and shit we said to each other "this is much better than Roy flips in Arrow". I feel that the flips in here have a use in the context of the battle and his training.

vincent d'onofrio is amazing as Fisk, but why has to be always worried
that "worry" face is kinda annoying

Really? I think he's the only bad thing about the show. I'm not buying him at all.

Just finished episode 8. He's really dragging the show down, in my opinion.

I imagine it would be because
Iron Fist
needs a significant deal more explanation to his backstory than
Luke Cage or JJ
. his origin is far, far more complex than theirs.

Man, this show is amazing. I'm up to episode 11 now. While I wouldn't put the fights above The Winter Soldier's, they are pretty damn good. As I don't have much experience with the comics it's interesting to see the differences in character personalities and backstories from say, the old movie or the Spidey cartoon episodes featuring DD.

Daredevil is fucking ridiculous. Like goddamn. He beats the the SHIT out of these dudes. So awesome. I'm not sure why he can't, like, call the police when he
gets the addresss to the Russian hideout, or when he finds the location of the kidnapped girls
, but whatever. Superhero. It's just a little weirder since this seems to be more grounded than other MCU stuff.

Love how in episode 5
Karen is frustrated with the new office equiment and Foggy says it's because the machines are taking over.

If you only knew, Foggy. If you only knew.

You mean the address he took off a corrupt cop who's in Fisk's pocket?

You are not following the show very well...
Fisk has half the police on payroll.

Are you blind?

Watched the first few and don't really like it so far . It feels like the show takes itself to serious. Oh and that flip in ep 2 was dumb as hell.

It's the nature of the comic series. And because it takes itself so seriously (eyerollingly so to some people) is why it's one of the best comic book adaptations imo

The ben ulrich/Karen plot reallly drags tho I gotta admit. Whenever the focus veers away from Matt or Fisk the show gets less interesting. The second season should work on making the rest of the cast more intriguing.

Just finished it. No other superhero TV show or movie comes close to what I just watched. I don't know if I'll enjoy another PG-13 superhero movie after this.

How far are you?

The cops are corrupt.

The police who is half in Fisk's pocket? That police?

Wow. So, the entire final 30 minutes of the finale are shot, lit, edited, written, and scored just like the climax of one of their films. The transition is very, very obvious, too. It screws with the pacing a bit, but then evens out.

But, of course, there's the rather ridiculously cheesy final few minutes.

You know what I love about the reaction to DD? It's everything nerds and critics like Devin from BA were saying they never wanted from the MCU. It's pretty much The Wire meets Batman Begins and it's fucking amazing because of that mix.

No doubt. Kind of showing all those fools that being "gritty", a buzzword used as criticism, can actually be pretty good
