Question i just finished episode 3 right now, but does the rest of the season stay this dark?

Dark as in violent? Shit man, just wait until the end of ep 4.

Edit: I wonder if we'll ever see the series going this far with Kingpin?

It's the nature of the comic series. And because it takes itself so seriously (eyerollingly so to some people) is why it's one of the best comic book adaptations imo

The ben ulrich/Karen plot reallly drags tho I gotta admit. Whenever the focus veers away from Matt or Fisk the show gets less interesting. The second season should work on making the rest of the cast more intriguing.

Totally agree on the second point.

And i'm no Daredevil expert, so i'm not sure how the show ought to be, but i'll tell you that i'll get something "self serious" like this any day of the week, over the nerdy humor of Flash or even Guardians.
The chronic phobia some seem to have to "taking yourself seriously" is weird to me; apparent "self awareness", isn't necessarily a sign of sincerity at all, which is what it's important.

But that's just me.

Watched episode 1-4 over the weekend, while the pilot did not convince me yet, the 2nd ep surely did!

Great series so far.

I saw the first episode yesterday.

I'm not particularly grabbed yet, but it was certainly heaps better than any other MCU-for-TV business. It is nicely shot, well cast (count me along the ones who enjoy Foggy) and competently written. They also did an sterling job with the action scenes, which are only second to Banshee (not that this is unexpected or anything, as Banshee basically exists in its own realm of violence).

I was losing my patience with TV Mahvel after Peggy Carter and the current stretch of AoS, but Daredevil looks like a completely different beast. I hope the next couple of episodes get better.

Netflix and Marvel are still not sure there will make Season 2 anytime soon. They signed contract for 60 one hour episodes, separated over single seasons of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Defenders.

.....terrible. they should throw defenders or something else to the way-side and give us season 2 in a year or two. i bet jessica jones and the luke cage show don't end up being as good as this one.

Get to episode 2 as soon as! It has a fight that is just as good as the corridor fight in one of the earlier season 2 Banshee episodes.

Just finished watching the first season. I am now left wanting for moar. It was really good and felt really different to arrow, flash etc.

I can totally see them making a new, separate deal for more seasons of Daredevil. You don't easily ignore the critical acclaim this series has received after all.

I don't believe that was all one shot. There are at least three possible cuts points in there. Why are they there, if it was all one shot? There no point in doing it in one shot if you are hoping to make it look edited.

On ep.9 now. Think I'm liking the Ben Urich adaptation alot more than I expected at first. The fight scenes haven't progressed to me since ep.3, which is actually ok because that was some great, albeit brief, climatic action. Right after that is the
Hallway scene
and then
the fight with Stick
so far. Hopefully they continue to keep Fisk grounded. The ending of ep.4 was as disturbing as it was off-putting, not because of the visceral context more so than the unbelievable elements in contrast to the character...mild Fisk to
head busting
Fisk didn't fit at the time. But he's growing on me bit by bit...

Really pleased so far. I don't exactly agree with the comparisons with Arrow and this being better however...the choreography is a no brainer but substance wise they both tackle things differently which I think is ok.

I am pretty out of the loop on the MCU though in terms of tv series. Didn't like the first couple of episodes of Agents of SHIELD, though I heard it got considerably better, and I also heard good things on Agent Carter as well so I need to check those both out now. Hopefully DD will transition nicely...

Need Spidey to throw hands with him badly....like...you guys don't understand....especially if they implement the Spider-fu taught to him by Iron Fist in the comics from a couple years ago...

I felt the fight in the finale was kind of underwhelming, probably the worst choreographed out of the entire season. A lot of the punches felt fake with no follow through, no impact at all. Their first encounter with each other in episode 9 was much better.

Spoilers tho...

Something must have happened during production, or at least I hope so because the season slows to a crawl midway through before turning into cheesecake during home stretch.

I'm disappointed.

Whenever you do long single take scenes, even if it is intended to be done in a single shot, you design edit points into the flow just in case. There's always a possibility that shit happens that makes it impossible to actually get it in a single shot in the allocated number of takes. Budget isn't unlimited. Also, if during editing there are unfortunate mistakes spotted, it makes it possible to correct without having to shoot everything again. There's nothing unusual about that at all. True Detective did the same thing and they talked extensively about the challenges in doing it and the fail safes they put in place just in case.

The last three episodes were boring.

I am not familiar with the Daredevil lore, but
Stick
is my favorite character on the show. There's no bullshit with that guy which is refreshing. Too bad he's only in one episode :((

Urich > Karen

I hope this won't be seen as flamebait since it's a DC series, but how enjoyable did you guys find Daredevil compared to the Flash ?

Unfortunately my limited time didn't give me the binge watching I'd love, but I did manage to get through episode 3. Wow. I'm impressed. I really like it so far. It's dark and they aren't afraid to push the violence.

I really hope Netflix continues this trend. Between Marco Polo and Daredevil, I'm really liking their original series offerings.

The Flash is a fun show which I like alot but... this is miles better in almost all aspects. DD is probably one of the best superhero related things around.

Flash is an entirely different beast. These two shows are trying to accomplish very different things and you'll never look at Daredevil for high speed time warping metahuman fun. I'd say Daredevil is a stronger production overall, but the Flash is a great show in its own way.

Man this show is so good!

Can any tell me (episode 2 spoiler):
Is there more bad stuff happening to kids in the rest if the series?
. My wife seemed to be digging the show, but stuff like that really gets to her, so she doesn't want to watch anymore. I want to try to convince her to come back, but I don't want her to come back if there is more of that or worse later on.

Unfortunately yes...
A kid gets murdered off-screen by one of the "good guys" later on.

If anyone thought the first 15-25 minutes of this were lame, keep going. It looked pretty bad to me for a second there, but by the end of the third episode I was hooked.

Finished watching the final episode today.
There are a few lulls but overall I thought it was a fantastic adaptation of the series.

Makes me wish Netflix would do a take on Johnny Blaze.
