I don't know who the hell Psylocke is. But I do know WB cast non-white not-blonde dude to be Aquaman, and when he showed up in costume he looked pretty badass. So I think people are too stuck on how 'true' the character needs to be to the look of the comic character.

As an avid reader of comics, I do not think you realize how difficult what you ask is. Even within the confines of the comicbook world, change is not looked upon very fondly.

Like I said, who would you actually propose? There are 1,304,286 Japanese-Americans and the Japanese community in the UK is 37,535. That's honestly not a huge array. It's not that surprising to me that they get overshadowed by other Asian actors and that Fox doesn't get out of their way to cast one of those 1.3 million, especially if the characters relations to Japan are superficial at best. (I doubt the movie will even mention it)

Just because there aren't any A-list well known Japanese actresses in Hollywood doesn't mean there aren't any.

For God's sake, Chris Reeve was a complete unknown when he got cast as Superman.

And same for Asian men. There's John Cho, the guy from TDK, Ken Watanabe, and Kublai Khan from Marco Polo, if we're just talking about prominent faces. But you can actually go and get an unknown. We don't need to cast John Cho in fucking everything...

You're right of course, I just don't really get why they should get out of their way to find some unknown one solely on nationality.

Pretty much what Delta Assault said. Why can't it be someone new? And maybe there were people auditioning for the part who didn't make the cut. And maybe they were looking for a caucasian Psylocke, in which case never mind, and I look forward to the misunderstood backlash that will follow from those who don't know the characters crazy, convoluted origin.
