I'm guessing the Venn overlap between people who think Munn is a shit actor and people who have actually seen her act in Newsroom or Magic Mike is pretty damn thin.

I've seen both of those, and I'd call her a "meh tier" actor at best. Psylocke was a bit of a bizarre character back in the 80s, so I assume her role in the move won't be that significant or full of emotional depth. Not like the previous movies had better casting for the peripheral characters.

And maybe they were looking for a caucasian Psylocke, in which case never mind, and I look forward to the misunderstood backlash that will follow from those who don't know the characters crazy, convoluted origin.

But why would they go out of their way to find someone with Japanese heritage for a character whose relationship to japan is almost irrelevant? I mean, do you believe that there's an effort made by Hollywood to cast non-japanese asians for Japanese roles? That they talent pool is simply pretty small seems more likely to me.
