Olivia Munn is Pyslocke in X-Men Apocalypse

I know a few people who work in Hollywood and they've all given me the impression that everybody sleeps with everybody, from the grips to the PAs to visual effects artists to the actors to the producers. Like, literally everybody. It's hilarious when people get singled out for it.
 
Was there this weird race issue on GAF when they cast Fan Bing Bing as Blink?

If they really wanted Asian Psylocke they would have cast a Mainland China actress, it would roll in the dough from the China market.

I don't think most people even know who the hell Blink is. I mean, I don't, and I've read my fair share of comics.

Psylocke is at least prominent because of 90s X-Men.

Olivia Munn is Chinese now? I just looked her up. Her mother is of Chinese descent (could be biracial herself) and her father is caucasian.

Seems more like you don't give two fucks about race or ethnicity at all, as long as they handle Japanese 'right'.

I just want to know why the parts of Japanese characters goes to non-Japanese people, so much of the time, in Hollywood movies. Look at Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift. Are any of the main Japanese characters in that movie Japanese?

The Heimdall casting didn't bother me in the slightest. Nor does Johnny Storm for that matter. I'm genuinely curious as to why there are so few Japanese actors who can fill the roles in American movies.

Psylocke is the only character in X-Men who could be cast as white or Asian and no one should technically be mad about it.

Yet here we are...a white/Asian chick is playing her and we're angry.
 
We're being given the privilege of seeing Olivia Munn in a crazy tight outfit doing crazy mutant mutant ninja stuff?

Probably not that many English speaking ones out there? I mean, which Japanese actress (that has zero accent) would you propose for Psylocke?

You also have tons of americans playing Russians, Germans etc. Hollywood doesn't care about nationality when it comes to casting and honestly I don't think they really should.

They won't. For some reason, even though there are LOADS of video footage chronicling that decade(not only footage of news, movies, but home video footage that you could even find on YouTube), people tend to miss their mark when it comes to that 80s authenticity. Most tend to just go the "Hipsters looks pretty 80s, I guess. Lets get a bunch of hipster looking characters and just play a bunch of 80s music in the background. That's how the 80s was!!" or the "Lets just binge on marathon after marathon of I Love the 80s with a big notepad near by!".

She will be fine. She has done some odd shows here and there and she has been a serviceable actress.

Between direction and what seems to be a pleasant and earnest demeanor, I am sure she will do fine.

Personally, I always root for her. Partially out of spite, but also because I like to see an underdog succeed.

I don't know who the hell Psylocke is. But I do know WB cast non-white not-blonde dude to be Aquaman, and when he showed up in costume he looked pretty badass. So I think people are too stuck on how 'true' the character needs to be to the look of the comic character.
 
I haven't heard or seen anything involving her in a while but I remember not liking her.

Just because there aren't any A-list well known Japanese actresses in Hollywood doesn't mean there aren't any.

For God's sake, Chris Reeve was a complete unknown when he got cast as Superman.

And same for Asian men. There's John Cho, the guy from TDK, Ken Watanabe, and Kublai Khan from Marco Polo, if we're just talking about prominent faces. But you can actually go and get an unknown. We don't need to cast John Cho in fucking everything...
 
Cool i find it hard to the negative here, Betsy is hardly a demanding role to play especially in a fucking Singer movie. Some of you need to get a grip.
