Episode 8

Gotdamn. I figured that's what happened when he saw his younger self's reflection in the mirror, but damn. Scumbag father got messed up. And then the mother so nonchalantly says "get the saw." Yo she knew exactly what to do in that situation.

Edit:
Damn, Fisk played the hell out of them, haha. It was perfect. They were so close too!
And lawd, Vanessa continues to be/look absolutely perfect.

The only issue I had with Karen at all was how long some of those Ulrich scenes were dragging in the last few episodes before
Ulrich got killed
.

She's fine. Happy they subverted the obvious love triangle drama, too.

I'm fine with most of the characters. The only one that tends to get on my nerves of Foggy sometimes. Acting feels forced.

Just finished 12.

Ben no ;_;

One more to go, probably tomorrow night.

7 episodes in and damn this show is brutal. Car door anyone, I nearly threw up.

Best made comic series so far, well production wise anyway. I hope this is the level going forward in other series.

I'm so glad I decided to finish the show before reading any further in the "mark all spoilers" thread. Some of you guys are pretty terrible at it.

Anyway, great show. Netflix should work on redeeming it. It was inconsistent in parts, but all in all, it was a fun ride.

That
Buddha Palm
that Matt ate, though. Can't wait for Season 2 when they go deeper into that.

EDIT: That TERRIBLE line from Karen about how
the three of them stopped Fisk.

Yeah, there were more people involved, dummy.

And all she did was
get Ben killed. No part of her "investigation" was useful.

Something I noticed in episode 9
The whole Japanese subplot is there in pieces and looks like something that'll be followed up in a future series, probably Iron Fist like a lot of of people predicted. I'm willing to bet that Stick lied about putting an arrow in the kid to keep Matt out of it. The Japanese want a specific building, and it just hit me that it's probably the required ritual site for Black Sky. They seem to still have everything they need to perform the ritual by ep 9, and that most likely includes the boy.

Stick definitely killed the kid. Nobu went to Fisk complaining about how Black Skies were rare and that he didn't want to have to find another one.

I dunno. It might be a farce. It could be that they somehow were able to trick Stick into thinking he had succeeded and wanted everyone to continue to believe that, including Fisk. I know, a long shot, but I think it's possible.

The more I watch, the more I'm afraid they do something really dumb to tie it in with other with other Marvel products. Like, I really hope agent Coulson doesn't turn up in his stupid fucking hovercar at any point.

I don't think it's incorrect to say Foggy is the weakest actor on the show, but simultaneously, he still manages to make the role work really well.

I agree. I thought he got better as it went on, his energy and jokeyness felt a bit forced early on but more natural towards the end.

And I agree he may have been the weakest part from an acting perspective but I still thought the character and relationship between him and Matt was enjoyable

Episode 8 was by far my favorite. Everything after or around ep 10 felt kind of drawn out but there were a few tear-jerker moments. They probably could have
moved onto the red costume and spent a bit more time with it
earlier, rather than save it for the last episode, which was really cliche.

I thought Karen's actress was really good, despite her doofy character. Foggy kind of slipped up but he also had some good moments. Both characters outshone Matt about half-way through.
Kingpin and Vanessa's relationship
seemed really bland. Kingpin himself felt not at all suitable to be in a position of power with his
anger issues
and how he seems
to look on the edge of crazy every time he talks
. Still an interesting villain though.

The show had a white savior complex and used the
deaths of minorities as motivation
. Maybe that was intentional, what with the three main characters, but it was a bit cringey.
Urich's wife
didn't really have
alzheimer's
anymore after the initial time and they gave
Kingpin's mom alzheimer's as well, I think
. I think another character too, but I can't remember. The show almost felt a bit like Angel at first, but it quickly soared beyond that.

I'm actually awaiting the episode where Karen is... removed from the show. Hopefully we get that out of the way early in Season 2.

Cool so she survives season 1. Good to know!

Foggy was one of my favorite characters. Yeah, some weak acting moments, especially early on, but his relationship with Matt was done very, very well.

I think the worst part of the show was Ep 12, which was just horribly directed and edited. Surprised the penultimate episode wouldn't have had more oversight.
From the stupid, pointless parkour sequence, to the crowd of blind workers, to even Ben's death.
All of it shot so poorly. I think it's this episode more than anything in 13 that weakens the finale.

Deborah Ann Woll knows how to wear a pencil skirt. Hnn. There isn't a god angry enough with a fist large enough that could truly convey how hard I'd hit it.

Isn't Alias a R-rated comic? Like worse than daredevil R-Rated?

Teenage detective audience

Right

You have no idea what you're talking about. Alias was really dark

It's about an ex superhero turned detective investigating supernatural. Could work more like AoS or Buffy the vampire killer.

We'll see, we'll see, last time they spoke about the production they had this to say,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A.K.A._Jessica_Jones said:
The [Alias] graphic novel is the first one that Marvel did that was meant to serve an adult audience. I toned it down a little bit for network, but it’s very, very easy to translate that into cable. Very easy."

I watched the first 8 Episodes. It's better than the first 12 episodes of The Flash I watched and better than Arrow.

And I know nothing about Daredevil. So great.

Today is the day I will finish the show. Only need Episode 12 and 13. I just hope that I haven't spoiled it for myself at this time, knowing how the final suit looks and that
Ben dies, which would suck.

I kinda feel like there are too many chracters in this show that get too much screentime to talk about the same 1 or 2 things without it going anywhere and who never really do all that much to move things forward.
I could have done without that.

Apart from that,I liked the series.

Ep 12 spoiler:

Alas Poor urich I knew him well .

I thought that this would lead to a him moving to
the Bugle
next season.

Finished last night and fucking loved it. I'm still shocked this is a Marvel Studios production. It's like they had all their most talented creatives locked in a closet up to this point or something

I have NO idea how they're going to pull Defenders. Daredevil arguably looks and feels completelly detached from the rest of MCU, with Jessica Jones going for that teenage detective audience, I can't seem to place them together just like I can't imagine Mickey Mouse in Beowulf. Putting an R rated hero together with PG13 rated hero is going to be weird.

lolol

Yeah it's encouraging to hear a lot of people in this thread mention that Foggy's acting gets better as the season goes on. I wouldn't let that deter me from finishing the season anyways but it's nice to hear.

And it was cool when I was watching this, the whole time I was thinking "This takes place in the same universe as the Avengers....GotG..." I almost had to pinch myself. I can't tell you how giddy all these superhero movies have made me in the recent years. I dreamed about this stuff as a kid and Marvel is just killing it, year after year.

I think the order of release of these street-level Defenders will be: Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist? I cannot WAIT for Iron Fist.

Jessica Jones comes first. Luke Cage will be in that show before getting his own
