Not talking strictly in terms of platinum, but overall, I don't think Demon's is too hard all around, but I would say that I had some of the more... unforgiving and rough moments out of the entire series.

I can't speak for the Defiled Chalice dungeons in this game, but even the brain woman bridge didn't give me anywhere close to the same amount of dead as fighting a Black Phantom Mind Flayer on a narrow-as-fuck stairway.
Black phantom mindflayers weren't that bad; baiting the paralyzing attack gave you free hits and the spiraling stairwell made it hard for them to get a direct angle on you.

I'd actually say the hardest part of Demon's Souls main game was 4-2, since there were so many enemy ambushes that could take out a healthy chunk of your life bar.

The brains in Bloodborne... Argh. They can go fuck themselves.

At what point? I checked it a few times later on but eventually forgot about it after it didnt open like 3 different trips.

Any items worth getting?

You find the key on the body in the cage below the chime maiden spawning the hags in the Unseen Village. The Upper Cathedral Ward area is beyond that door. Don't even think about doing it till you're lvl 70+. The atmosphere and visuals in that area are amazing. The skybox is the best in the game and the abandoned cathedral in the middle of it is extremely tense. There's plenty of high level items and enemies there as well as two very different bosses.
The Celestial Emmisary is a stupidly easy fight but Ebrietas is very close by and she's one of the top 3 boss fights in the game imo.

Chalice E
brietas
is kicking my ass, is there any pro tip for this fight?

I tend to lock on to her body to see her swipes/headbutt, and practically hug her to prevent her from doing any arcane attacks. Dodge around her and get behind to attack safely.

And of course bolt is effective.

I am getting my ass handed to me by Vicar in NG+, I blasted through the Cleric Beast, Father and BSB on my first try but Vicar is woopin me. It was the opposite on my first playthrough.

I beat the game, and now I am trying the chalices. So far it's basically the most difficult part of bloodborne. The main story is a piece of cake in comparison. Today I tried the Loran chalice (which is apparently required to get the fourth layer main chalices). HOLY SHIT! ITS FUCKING INSANE! I am stuck at the blood starved beast. Ringing the beckening bell doesn't seem to bring any players, so I have to beat it on my own.

I need some help with Defiled Chalice boss
Watchdog
.

I'm reading that you just get close and you dodge under his swipes. That's all well and good, and very doable for me, but he also has a few other attacks up close that don't seem nearly as easy to dodge. Is there supposed to be a trick to get him to swipe? I keep dying to the fire puffing and low swipes.

Woking on the acquiring the C

Some odd dialogue took place in the Hunter's Dream. I haven't seen Gherman since...maybe before V.A.? Anyway, I hear his voice talking about some Lawrence after returning from the O

. Couldn't find him, so not sure how I was hearing him.

Here is a video of my fight, I feel like remaining short to middle range causes the swipes attack. I manage to get him to do the swipes a good amount of time. I use the 15% and 10 % health increase Clockwise Metamorphosis allowing me to survive a dash attack, +4 blood vials Communion as well. In addition I wore the Charred Hunter Set with the Bone Ash Mask for increase fire resistances. No idea if that does helps but that's what I did.

That Black Phantom mindflayer has nothing on spider zerg rushes that happen in hallways and rooms that are already filled with shit that will wreck you.

OH and the crazy zombie/mummy Andrew W.K fuckers that move like Usain Bolt and can 1 shot you. Sure they can be parried if you get the timing and the distance right but wait what's that? Viceral attacks in here summon those bloodsucking sphincter fuckers from the Cainhurst courtyard? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that.

Just bought a used Ps4 from Gamestop a few hours ago to play Bloodborne. As soon as the game starts I notice the controller's left stick is wonky as hell - movement often goes in the opposite direction I'm pressing, my character will stop randomly even with the stick held down, etc. I was so eager to play I still made my way through and killed Cleric Beast in one shot. Gamestop better switch out a different controller for me tomorrow when I return it though!

Oh, so that's what's been summoning those fuckers.

He was REALLY easy, especially when I learned you could kill the maidens. Made him a cakewalk.
Not sure if I wanna press on or go do
Upper Cathedral Ward
next.

It makes me sad when your beckoner doesn't really engage you at all. No gestures, no silly weapon transforming. At least a wave or a bow is appreciated if I just helped you beat a boss. I just co-oped Logarius with someone, and I guess he ran out of blood vials halfway through the fight because he just hid in the corner and let me finish him. Took a long time by myself, and I burned through about 15 blood vials. After the fight he just completely ignored me, lit the lamp, and then ran off. I would have appreciated at least a wave. :(

Oh well, at least I got my souls and insight.

Hmmm, maybe I'm getting too close and triggering different attacks? You seem to use a bit more distance than me. I've been using the same armor and similar runes. I guess I'll try a little more space tomorrow.

I've actually been doing great at staying above pace with vials compared to the bosses health, but it's always something like the fire puff that ends it all in one animation.

ML is going to be real interesting at lv35 :lol I refuse to get Chikage late in the game. Sequence broke the game to get to cainhurst early.

Is there a list of things to do upon hitting each area to make sure you don't miss anything?

I mostly got everything in my current playthrough but if I'm going to do a new one I'd like some kind of check list since I don't remember everything that I've did.

The story chalices get pretty hard, but the depth 5 ones with modifiers are really nuts. Check this video out of a rotten fetid Isz Chalice I stumbled across in the available online ones... It's absurdly brutal even though I have 62 VIT.

Just learn to read him. He's very predictable once you figure out his wind ups. I also suggest using a weapon with decent range. Last thing you want is to get pulled underneath him

You can tell right when he's about to do the fire puff as it's totally different from the chomp attack you're trying to get it to do. Just. Try to observe it and don't over commit with your attacks until you know it well enough to feel confident with your dodges.

If your level gets carried over to NG+ how are you supposed to respec?
No point in respecing in the game because eventually you will get enough levels to do whatever in the game.

If you put points into Skill/Bloodtinge then you can just max them out at 50 then start putting points in Strength up to 50 to try the other weapons.

Like with the amount of Souls you get in some areas for NG+ you can get to lvl170+ with just some moderate farming.

But that will probably put me out of coop/pvp range.

I thought people were intentionally keeping themselves within level 100-120 since the game apparently will not match people who are not close enough to your level.

So, I just "beat" the game, but I've apparently missed a lot of stuff
(covenants, optional bosses that drop chalices, whole areas)
. I'm thinking about playing through again and referring to wikis and whatnot for advice, but I'm not sure whether I should do so on NG+ or reroll. I'm not very happy with how my stats ended up, so I'm leaning towards the latter, but if there's NG+-only content (like the best ending?) I'd like to know.

What level are you on right now?

Still not too late to change up your build a bit if you are in the 80s/90s range. I believe the PvP meta is 120 so you still have some time.

And normally people build 2 separate characters... one for PvE solo (go high level) and one for PvP. Co-op is kind of a dud especially in the areas where you actually need good co-op help the Chalices... it's just better to do the PvE content solo unfortunately (you just co-op for the fun though at times it's not worth the hassle going through the bell ringing non sense).

Man, I did more in an hour than all of Saturday...

Beat the
3 hunters I'm yahargul
, the
Darkbeast Paarl
and
The One Reborn
. Somehow, I got the bosses in one go. Either I'm getting better, or bosses are getting easier.

Inbetween 78-81 I think. I have 32 strength, 14 skill, 12 bloodtinge. I'll see if I can work around this somehow. Maybe get some of those gems that add strength scaling to help a bit.

Where the hell am I at?

I'm above the Sickroom, and there are aliens(?) up here. Is that an alien autopsy?

I feel like I'm being tricked...

Edit: found
Cainhurst Summons
. This is a bit strange. What do I do with this
chick on the table?

Damn! I totally missed this area on my firsr playthrough. I'm on NG+, hopefully I'll have the patience to make it all the way back...

Didn't get to play much tonight but I did make some progress just the same. Cleared out
Yahar'gul and killed The One Reborn. The Chime/Bell Maidens were a bit of a surprise and my hopes that they were like the necros from Dark Souls were quickly crushed. One was an interesting fight, very reminiscent of the early boss from Demon's Souls. My gut was to clear the casters out first like I did back in the day, but he seemed to rage on me hard after that. Decided to ignore them on my 3rd or 4th shot and got him(?) down much easier. He wasn't too tough in the end, but holy hell was he grotesque. Looking forward to a much longer play session tomorrow night.

she drops one of the items you need for the true ending (you need 3 out of 4 of them)

also the summons gives you access to an optional area

fight was soooo underwhelming. Especially after that amazing intro cutscene. I expected something tough.
Reminded me of Tower Knight fight in DeS (because of those witches up on the balcony). Cool.
Oh well, they can't all be winners. :)
Hated the level, though.
Fuck those Summoners.
>(
Oh, and I left those
3 hunters for laters. Seriously, FROM? 3 at once?

Question about late game boss fight M
icolash. Is he supposed to be an easy fight? Or is it glitched for me again? I wasn't able to finish the fight because I had to leave for work, but I easily got him to <33%. He just stood there and absorbed my attacks. wtf
