The animated character's eyes are huge, and she might be kneeling down so she appears short.

Nah son. Nope nope noep.

The nose is all wrong, children and adults of that alien race have human actors.

Would be bizarre as fuck to change the entire species' look to make them looks like CG jello people. Doesn't make any sense that they would change a historically makeup and prosthetics character into a CG one given the entire motivations behind this new trilogy to be more traditional.

Nah, it's got to be Daisy.

It make sense if you think about it, if you listen to what Kathleen Kennedy was saying at Celebration. When she was asked who she identified with or imagined herself as in the original trilogy, she just said: well, there wasn't much choice...

Yeah, she probably pushed for a main female hero and Daisy just scream main lead already with her desertic planet origin and all (also got her own droid). I hope she can handle the pressure that will come with it (Jake Loyd or Hayden couldn't and Hamill never got past the: hey look it's Luke Skywalker).

Daisy Montage!

I agree, she is quite beautiful

oh man

Judging by the scenes with him so far. Seems like he is either a Stormtrooper that sees something happen he doesn't agree with, and sets out to get out of the Order (?) and is thrust into many sequences where he is on the run, or he is just a part of the Order or is someone important that is being chased and again is on the run.

But either way, from what I've seen it looks like he is on the run. Maybe he starts with the Order, escapes a Star Destroyer or something in one of those capsules, ends up on this planet and eventually finds his way to town where he meets Rey ( Daisy ). The First Order hunts him down on the planet and attacks Rey's town, setting into motion her getting more involved in the fight against the Order along with Rey.

So my guess in sequence

- new army or alliance is formed called the First Order
- soldier Finn is not liking what he sees and tries to escape
- Finn lands on planet Jakku
- Finn crosses the desert, finding a village
- Finn meets Rey
- Finn is located by the First Order and attacked
- the Order attacks Rey's town / home in the process
- Rey joins in the fight against the First Order and the new Sith

Something like that is my guess ( and thinking about it, the opening sequence would almost mirror the opening of New Hope where C3P0 / R2D2 is on the run, crosses the desert, lands in the care of Skywalker, droids are tracked and located, Luke's family is murdered, and he sets out to join in the fight against the Empire )

You are reading my mind, aren't you? :) Well partially, since I think not liking what he see is tied to the lightsaber. He's probably carrying it because he had to retrieve it or guard it when he was still a stormtrooper.

You guys are really out of the loop when it comes to the rumors which seems to match things shown is this teaser. I don't see why both of them won't be Jedi Flynn and Rey. A female and black lead, which is awesome

i cant stop watching it. Fuck, this is going to stomp Avengers. This is going to be the biggest movie ever. Fucking Han and Chewie.

Don't forget Oscar Isaac. None of the leads are white males.

I think woman escape those singular character identities easier than men. I don't think she'll get pigeonholed by this role and with the history of the franchise.

Aha! Further thoughts from the teasers

I'm thinking Rey is the daughter of Han and Leia, seeing as how the Falcon is always seen on the desert planet and Han says " chewie, we are home ". So Jakku is the home of Han and Leia ( will be interesting to hear how that ended up happening, Han doesn't strike me as a Desert guy ). The First Order, during its pursuit of Finn, is located by the Resistance and they mount a defensive ( would explain the way BB-8 seem's to be fleeing in a way in the first teaser, or maybe picked up the Tie Fighters and Destroyers on his sensors and is running to warn Rey ) while Han is on his way to rescue Rey. Meets up with Tie Fighters on the way to rescuing Rey and battles it out with them.

On the ground, Finn, who is on the run from the Order for whatever reason, leaves the pod he landed on Jakku with, crosses the desert finds himself in the town where Rey lives and in doing so, brings the Order to Rey's town. It looks like in the 2nd teaser Rey is hauling ass toward something with determination, maybe it is the Falcon?

Thats my current theory on what is going on. Sounds pretty reasonable, and would be pretty in-line with how the original trilogy started.

I also think Rey is the new Luke Skywalker for this film. Where, Han and Leia may of hidden her abilities from her, until these events start to unfold and then they reveal she has the potential to be a Jedi. So after the attacks, she goes on a hunt for Luke to begin training as a Jedi during the 8th and 9th films in the series.

I like this theory a lot, but it doesn't explain why Finn has a lightsaber in his concept art.

Maybe both are to become Jedi? Would be awesome if you had a pair of apprentices learning, becoming different types of knights. That's my hope anyway, but I'm super down with Rey being a badass knight on her own.

maybe that is why Finn is running from the Order? He stole / found an old lightsaber that was on the Star Destroyer where he was stationed. He flees with the lightsaber and is pursued intently by the Order?

kind of like C3PO and R2D2 being pursued intently by the Empire in the original trilogy due to them believing the droids had the plans to the Death Star on them.

They nailed the look for this movie.

The action looks great.

They just need to keep some lighthearted and silly moments and it will be a worthy sequel of the OG movies.

I think this movie will be good. Star Wars fans might actually have something to look forward to.

As much as I think the new Star Trek movies are "fun," they don't stick with me much. Plus, when it comes to ST, I'm more appreciative of the character drama and philosophical work in the shows like Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. So, JJ Abrams did a fine job reinvigorating that franchise on the big screen (Star Trek Into Darkness was great in IMAX 3D; just a really fun ride even with its shortcomings) but his work didn't quite appeal to me personally because there's a slight mismatch between his approach and what I truly enjoy and remember about Star Trek.

Now, in the case of Star Wars? This is a MUCH BETTER FIT for Abrams. I view Star Wars as a true action/adventure Sci-Fi franchise in a way that's, at its essence, popcorn flick-oriented.

Both teasers so far have been great. I'm legitimately excited.

Him mentioning in the conference that hope was a large part of the originals was huge for me. In fact, everything Abrams said to describe the original trilogy made me ecstatic he's steering this film.

Could be, yeah. Maybe they bring out the best in each other.

Maybe. We haven't seen the saber on Finn's person when in his trooper suit, but then again we haven't seen any full-body shots either (I think...).

The "We are home" line is in reference to the Falcon.

That does make more sense as it seems like the interior is a little bit ragged, even moreso then usual, and it looks like Chewie is a little on guard.

So maybe Han and Leia are just chilling at home ( and Rey is out in the fields ) when the attack starts, and Han goes out and locates his old pal the Falcon and sets off to defend his town along with the planetary defenses in place. Which isn't much, just some X-Wings and such.
