Is there a trick to the
huge silver fire breathing scorpions that are in packs in the chalice dungeons?
. For some reason I'm finding them harder than most bosses and it's driving me crazy.

Attack their sides. If there is bunch of them just forget them.

Started new character to test skill weapons. Threaded Cane has been more fun that I thought. Also rifle spear transformed charge attack is really great in coop. Don't need to be close to bosses and will almost always hit.

I believe you also get Insight for helping people with bosses.
not an option.
update-

I did 9 Upper Cathedral Runs with 150 Discovery, and 300 Discovery each.

9 runs w/ 150 Discovery- 0 blood chunks
9 runs w/ 300 Discovery- 8 blood chunks

in case it actually matters- I had 64 insight.

So there ya have it. Put on your Eye runes if you want chunks.

is there more than 1 eye rune?
will I get 300 with the one I got from Willem?

Who the hell is killing the people in my damn Church Ward!? Only one left is the nun, and she is seemingly going insane with laughter. The guy who is stuck to the floor is still there as well.

What is going on :(

Did you meet an NPC in
Forbidden Woods
and send that NPC to the cathedral?
You done fucked up

Let's talk about Insight.

Do I *really* need it? I'm at 65 atm. Pure Skill build, don't use Arcane or Bloodtinge weapons/stuff.
I have ton of madman's knowledge ready (~40) and I could really use it to buy Bolt Paper and other stuff from the upper Messengers.
I know its a huge issue regarding to Frenzy (one more benefit to actually spending them), but is there any other benefit to it other than seeing
Amygdalas (anything else?)
Item discovery?
Anything else in particular?

Oh, I'm at E
brietas so I'm really close to the very end.

Do you guys generally kill everything in the chalices or get by whatever you can? I think I've got these
giant scorpions
down, but then I go and die stupid to a spider or whatever...

I know the chests are important, but should i just be racing around in general or clearing them?

An
NPC from the Woods
? I've never even seen them or knew there was one there. The only ones I had were
the whore, the nun, and the old lady
.

chalice 3 layer 3 is the bane of my existence. I mean, I've had no issue beating the game and now I feel like I'm all thumbs.

if i recall correctly he's on a ledge of the windmill or something like that, covered by bandages and surrounded by bodies.

Hm....
I know the nun has a thing for Arianna (the whore) if you drank Arianna's Blood. AFAIK, she eventually kills her. Not sure though as I didn't save the nun.

What exactly is the point of the Chalice? I messed around with the first one, I beat the first three layers and it felt like a huge waste of time. The environments weren't very interesting, and the only items I found were ritual blood and other stuff you just use to enter more chalice dungeons. Enemies didn't give many echoes and I don't think I once had an enemy drop a vial, I left when I ran out and don't see any reason to go any deeper.

You get cool armor and weapons.

I found a +100 discovery Eye rune from this Glyph - rxp5dirg
Isc root. D5.

Also within this glyph is a Blood Rock, Lost Ludwig's Blade, +150 all resist rune, and +300 frenzy resist rune. Bosses are pretty easy too. Best glyph ever.

What exactly is the point of the Chalice? I messed around with the first one, I beat the first four layers and it felt like a huge waste of time. The environments weren't very interesting, and the only items I found were ritual blood and other stuff you just use to enter more chalice dungeons. Enemies didn't give many echoes and I don't think I once had an enemy drop a vial, I left when I ran out and don't see any reason to go any deeper.

In later dungeons you can get different versions of weapons (with different gem slots), the best blood gems in the game, Runes, one unique weapon, and two unique sets of armor. And enemies in Depth 4-5 dungeons give a ton of echoes. Killing 7 enemies in one room (which only takes a few minutes) in a Depth 5 dungeon gave me 100k echoes. And enemies usually drop bullets or vials for me, just depends on the type of enemy and how high your discovery is.

I'd have killed him on the spot if he is anywhere close to that description lol

There are
5
recruitable NPCs total, afaik.

I did take
the blood of the nun, and rejected the blood from the whore. Why she gotta kill a whore like that
:^(

The boss
Shadow of Yharnam
... :( how do i do this?!

I've beat them one by one, since I found out that it was an easier and more manageable method than "hit them all equally" method which is usually the one recommended so you avoid the snake summoning at the very end phase.
They're weak to Bolt, so use Bolt Paper on your regular weapon or use Tonitrus (preferably scaled to +5/+6).
I first dispatched the fireball caster since those were super annoying and were usually the main reason for my death (got hit by a fireball + slashed by a sword from someone else).
After that, go for the dual wielder since he's really aggro after the buff.
After that you're left with the fire breather guy.
Avoiding the snakes isn't that difficult, just roll (don't lock onto the last Shadow once he spawns the snakes) and you'll be fine.
Be careful, look at your surroundings you don't get stuck while dodging and manage your stamina correctly.
This is how I did it but I'm sure there a lot of other methods.
If you find it too difficult, try co-oping this one.

First I tried to kill everything but at some point I realized that running through the areas and picking up everything works just fine. Also some enemies I just ignore totally because they are annoying.

The first Chalice isn't that great but the laters are actually fun since they give you great challenges and start giving you bunch of blood echoes. Easily can get around 100k just going through the area once.

I started skipping the blob things that drop from the ceiling. They're weak to fire, but I'd rather not waste my time or consumables on them since they're easy to run past.

Well if it isn't the Suspicious Beggar since you said you didn't even see him in the Forbidden Woods, then I don't know. Maybe it's the nun then, not just for Arianna but everyone else. Crazy nun is crazy. :/

You get better gems, some rarer items and you can get unique-slotted weapons, but there isn't much more than that other than challenge and, for me personally, I like to see all the extra bosses.

Actually, come to think of it, there is a unique weapon exclusive to the one of the chalice dungeons, too. It is a grind though.

It really helped me to
use the big tombstone/monument as a means of dividing them and blocked the fire and attacks from one while attacking the other.

I've been singing this gospel whenever I've seen people talk about chunk farming. It really makes a huge difference.

That's good, but in my case it was always "something" when all three of them were present.
A slash here, a fireball there, it became a headache.
Going one by one was much, much faster and easier for me.

I'm going to
R2 her to the damn chair she is in tomorrow morning. Watch her not be there
lol

DAMN! Who was that corpse eating
dude I just rolled up on
in the Forbidden Woods.
He looked fucked so I withheld the cathedral refuge knowledge
and opted to attack.
His skinny as went electric beast mode... I BARELY took him down.
Jesus! Was that a
boss
?

He's a boss in the chalice dungeons. Most annoying one IMO

How am I supposed to dodge
Gehrman's
wind gust AoE attack? I try dodging in every direction and get ohko'd 9 times out of 10. Super frustrating right now.

They kinda pulled out a harem cast.

Adella is yandere.
Doll is that quiet soft one.
Arianna is well the hot one.
Annalise is tsundere
Eileen wise older one

I can't believe my hunter is this insightful.

Anime harems in my Souls games?

Time for a trade-in.

Dude, doesn't the 2 hand mode have the highest AR in the game if you stack bloodtinge? No need for a buff!

it's super strong but it has the drawback of draining health. I got used to using it indiscriminately and when I got to the final boss I kept wondering why I was instantly dieing at a certain section, then I realized what was going on. :(

I wouldn't say it has the highest AR tho. I'm sure the Wheel and LHB will outscale it, probably kirkhammer too. Remember the 2h scales only from Bloodtinge and the 1h from skill.
at 49 bloodtinge my 2h AR is 553, which is definitely high but I know others can get up like 6-700, it's much faster and less stamina consuming than the heavier weapons though so it might do more DPS.
Fighting Wetnurse I killed it so fast it didn't do a clone phase (after wiping on clone phase a few times of course)

The real star of the bloodtinge build is Evelyn though. Evelyn + marrow ash is ridiculously damaging (700ish damage) and even just the regular shot was doing upwards of 250 damage. I closed out a few encounters just keeping my distance and pinging them to death with Evelyn.

I'm assuming that you accepted blood from the whore and used it and that has turned the nun into a total yandere.

She wants senpai (you) to notice her.

Wow sounds awesome. Too bad I don't intend on doing any Isc roots, just want to do the required ones for the Plat, but those goods sound...really good. lol

Dammit.

Was double KO'd by
Daughter of the Cosmos
.

Was a pretty fun fight, that took me a couple of tries before eking out this narrowest of victories. Liked it so much I uploaded it using shareplay https://youtu.be/pk0kq3GyVqA

Thank god the PS4 makes it so easy to do this.

Any strategies for Ma
rtyr Logari
us?

I always get him to 25-30% by parrying his initial attacks but then it becomes impossible to parry...
Plus that annoying AoE attack he does in the 2nd phase is bullshit.

And he's so fucking fast too.

Old Hunter's Bone helps, plus a fire enchantment. something long reaching long transformed axe or greatsword is good for the distance, two quick strikes then back up and wait for the batman attack (his swoop down) and rinse and repeat.

I had trouble with him too. But I kept trying and eventually I lucked out and managed to beat him with a series of 5 or 6 consecutive parries.
