Root chalices are randomized versions of the Chalices. No need to do those if you just want to get the trophy. You need to do
all Pthumerian Chalices, Ailing Loran Chalice for materials and Great Isz for materials.

Ah okay. This is going to be a long grind but I'm determined to get my first Souls platinum! Btw, who is that in your avi?

As far as I understand the story...

First of all, no Amygdala is not the only great one. In general great ones are called great ones not because of their hight but because they are entitys of a higher plane with a deeper and greater understanding of the universe and existence.
In the end you indeed ascended and you are now a new great one, a small squid. Maybe you will grow, but at this point we do not know.
Many humans (factions) tried to ascend in the game but you are the first one who truely did.
There are also two kinds of 'extraterrestrials' in the game. True great ones like Amygdala, Mother Brain, Ebrietas or the Moon Presence and their kin like the celestial emissary(s), rom or even spider patches. Kin are related to the great ones but not of "equal power".

So I'm a God now? But what do these aliens have to do with the hunt? Why does Gerhman want to kill me? So many questions

Really struggling with Rom. Even summoning help is fruitless
The most important thing is to take your time. Kill each one of the spiders by dashing past them and hitting them once or twice from the back (their weak point). Don't attack Rom until they're dead. Once you get to the next phase of the fight try to stay close enough so that he won't trigger his crazy meteor spell. If he does just disable lock on and start spamming roll.

Once the spiders are down get in and hit him a few times until he's getting a move ready, then retreat to mid distance. If he is getting ready to teleport just get as many hits in as you can. Rinse and repeat.

The main thing is to be patient and don't get greedy. I know this isn't the only viable strategy but I think it's the safest one.

This is very good step by step guide how to get to last Chalice fastest.

It's ridiculous Sony hasn't patched this yet. I'm not sure what elevator is broken but I send all of mine back up or down just incase.
I cant beat
Logarius
because he is an asshole and I cant beat
Ebrietas
because of Elevator glitch.
Can I come back to
logarius
later on when I m leveled up a bit or he is main story related?

Really struggling with Rom. Even summoning help is fruitless

I was in your same position earlier this week. If the game even found a cooperator (which isn't very often...) they would always die on me. I ended up doing it myself.

Honestly, do not pay attention to what folks say about ignoring the spiders. That shit never worked for me. Keep in middle distance so Rom won't use the ice shower as much yet his AOE attacks are easy to dodge. Kill all of the spiders before you wail on him. He is much easier to take down this way. Trust me. The first time I attempted this strategy I killed him no problem.

The strategy I found for rom that worked for me was to kill all the spiders in the first wave since he does no attacks and then run to him and beat the crap out of him (in the side or back). After that while dodging the missles work your way around his side and take out stray spiders but don't focus on them. The key for me was do not hit R3 and focus on rom. Instead keep running wide around the area until you have a good line to run through spiders or to his side where there aren't any spiders. When you get to his side wail on him and if he doesn't despawn then move out as soon as you see him rolling back and forth to get away from the aoe and then repeat your running process. The other thing is I used fire paper and that seemed to up the damage considerably.

EDIT: I found that after wave one trying to clear spiders and avoid attacks ate up way too many vials by being hit. Also make sure that when you see a spider get read to jump up in the air to be prepared to just run away a little. When they get planted you can one shot them easily.

The boss
Shadow of Yharnam
... :( how do i do this?!

If you're tired of going in fair and square, try this:

If you just want tips:

As you know, you'll face three enemies at the same time. One is a caster, one is pure physical and the other is both. DO NOT kill one at a time as, once one of them is dead, the other two will become way stronger and have new moves. Drain their life equaly, so, once they get stronger, you'll be able to kill them quickly.

Do not stop moving during this fight. You'll be handling one of them constantly casting fire balls at you, other one always rushing in your direction and one that will stay mid range, for the most part.

Once they transform, the two melee enemies will have a new vertical attacks where their arms stretch, and those attack will go through walls, tombstones and whatever.

Once two of them is dead, the remaining shadow will be able to summon giant snakes that can do masive damage. So atack them if you can, to stop the summoning, if you can't, run and roll until the snakes are gone.

Keep calm, dodge and roll.

Ebrietas
using +10 Chikage / Evelyn (31 Bloodtinge)

Was a tough battle to learn and such a tight window. Was such a fun but super frustrating battle. Glad I did not break my controller when I was full of rage when I died. But over the day, I realized this giant and my hunter became almost friends as they engaged in constant combat :)

final boss battle with Gherman and moon

Logarius
wasn't that hard. I swear, late game bosses have been way over hyped as far as difficulty goes.
Rom
,
The One Reborn
, and
Logarius
we're all fairly easy for me.
Rom
being the most difficult, but only because I didn't understand how to dodge some of his magic attacks at first.

Anyway, I can either venture forward past
The One Reborn
or use the
Upper Cathedral Key
I recently got.

Gehrman wants to kill you so you can be free from the dream and be done with your hunt. By killing him (without the cords) you end up getting trapped by the Moon Presence, and become the new host of the Hunter dream, doing basically the same work as Gerhman (guiding future hunters though the hunt).

Theres a secret random dialogue in the dream about Gerhman where he is talking while sleeping, asking someone for free him from the dream, so it shows that he's somewhat forced to be what he is. So he basically wants to avoid that you have the same fate as him.

By letting you be killed you're done with your hunt, and you stop dreaming, but the hunt cycle continues.

With the cords you end up being the new Moon Presence. What will you do is open to discussion...

Atleast that's how I see it.

Oh I agree, I beat L

in two tries last night. Granted I only had one vial left but I didn't find the fight that bad. I found the early game bosses to be he hardest by far.

Okay thanks for that. I'll give it a look.

I thought it was Aigis! Going through P3P but haven't made much progress since Bloodborne came out. Think I'm just at the end of the summer vacation.

So the aliens are in fact the ones who inflicted the nightmares on the humans?

Love the fact that in typical Souls fashion, there is no real "good" ending. You either wake up but others are subjected to the dream, you become the hunter's helper with the endless cycle of the hunts or you become the God and inflict the hunt on others.

Also I was supposed to seek the Palebloods... What were they? Did I do what I was destined to do?

So I'm a God now? But what do these aliens have to do with the hunt? Why does Gerhman want to kill me? So many questions

In the eyes of the Yharnam church, yes you are a god. The hunt is necessary because more and more humans begin to turn into beasts because of blood healing. Blood healing was /is used to heal illness, plagues and diseases. It is very effectiv but it also turns people into beasts. And as blood healing became more and mroe used more and more people began to transform, till they had to not only hire hunters but later train them and at the end even hire normal citizens to hunt down beasts. Till you arrive and every normal human is now a beasts (or 99%).

Gerhman was the first Hunter and was trapped in the dream by the Moon Presence. Most certainly there were hunters before you in the dream and most of them have a very similar story to tell. BUT in the end they were defeated or executed by Gerhman. I think by killing you he really wants to show you mercy as it is the only way (that he knows of) how to set you free from the dream and the mysterious play that the moon presence is playing.

But we also have a Bloodborne lore thread. You should check it out!

Really struggling with Rom. Even summoning help is fruitless

There are a few of us that always co-op a lot and we help each other a lot...sad to say we also get unwelcomed A-Hole Invaders like last night. We got one last night that waved, didn't attack and even came up to us so we moved on.

However when she went up the ladder to take out a Witch and I was down looking in a corner, that A-Hole came up and just unloaded on me with my back turned. She thought I was behind her and went after the Witch and got blindsided by a "Bug" having to contend with two. I ran just to try and heal but right into a Brain Sucker, died, she died and now not even speaking to me.....thanks to MR. Di@kless A-Hole Idiot.....

I've got a feeling I'm going to be doing this. Like, power-levelling through to NG++ or something just so the chalices are so much easier by the end. I don't relish the thought of one-hit KOs with a HP nerf and a generally tough boss in that last one.

I don't even like the chalice dungeons at all so I'm tempted to just not bother going for the platinum. But I love the game and I'm quite far through it. I just don't know.

I wasn't fond of the chalice dungeons but I reeeeeally wanted that platinum. I had 60 vit, 40 end and a +10 LHB so I pretty much breezed through them all. Mind you it was still tedious but at least I wasn't throwing my controller at the TV.

Couple questions:

  1. I just beat
Rom (I think that was his name? The spider.
. What percentage of the way am I through this game?
  2. The area after Rom seems to be significantly harder than what's come before. At level 73, I was feeling overleveled until now. Was this area much harder for anyone else, and am I still overleveled?

Really struggling with Rom. Even summoning help is fruitless

Just take the spiders down one by one. The first phase you don't have to worry about Rom. The second phase simply running sideways will dodge his ranged attack, keep circling around everything occasionally picking off lone spiders then go for Rom. The third phase is the exact same thing, you just have to worry about an easily telegraphed AoE attack with limited range when you get close.

I dunno if you're following a guide or anything, but none of the strategies online worked for me.

Do you have
Ludwig's Holy Blade
by chance?

What I ended up doing was:

Use Ludwig's in two-hand mode.

First part, kill all the spiders. Wail on Rom with the blade when they are dead and try to get a charge attack or two in before he teleports.

For the remaining phases:

1. Kill the spiders if they are close/easy kill. Ignore them otherwise.
2. Wait for Rom to start casting his "ice rain" spell.
3. Run towards him and to the left while the ice is falling. You should be able to dodge the ice if you are able to end up just to the left of Rom
4. When you get next to him, Dash Attack, and retreat

You should be able to get a few other dash attack "pokes" every now and again with Rom. Remember to run away after you hit him. Watch your spacing with the spiders and stay outside his general area as he has a few AOEs. You don't have to kill any of the spiders, but you might as well if you can get an easy kill on them, but don't go out of your way. Trying to kill all of them in phase 2 and 3 is a waste of time and Rom will end up damaging you with his spells.

Phase 3 is tough, Rom likes to spam you. Here I just tried to dash attack poke him as much as I could while surviving. You want to finish the fight at this point as fast as you can.

Hope that helps.

Wait..Who isn't talking to you, someone on gaf? Someone is blanking you because you got killed by an invader? Am i reading this right?

I'm sorry but that is fucking hilarious. I can't.

Except when you fight chalice dungeon Rom in a little room, i'm still in team "don't pay attention to
little spiders when fighting Rom".
Run into an opening, hit him 1-2 (3 if the teleports) with heavy attack and roll/dodge away. Repeat. Ludwig's L2 is very good for this. Don't use lock on at all. There is a chance that you get hit by a random spider but getting rid of his spiders takes a while (easy to kill, i know but still). Because it takes a while, he can use his meteors more in phase 2
. So just focus on him and the fight is over fast.

Yeah, this is coming from a former "dickwraith" in Dark Souls. You just can't trust invaders. Even when I was a wraith, I'd always prioritize my own kind over the host. Wraiths (Invaders) are some of the worst scum imaginable and will use any exploit to their advantage. Myself, I never stooped as low as to gain the host trust like that.

My friend and I (in Bloodborne)- when we would get invaded we'd make sure we'd establish an area to battle. We didn't give a care if the invader waved or not. They got double teamed and dropped. Being a former invader that has killed the host even when vastly outnumered I know from experience you just can't give'em an inch

That's a funny story though. Sorry for your lost time. Anyone that claims this game is easy must be playing offline!!!

Great, great job man. Making the platform go back up before you dropped down was brilliant.

I was working my way through Cainhurst Castle after dying a few times at those spiders. Then I was up on a balcony outdoors around the statues and I followed a note that said, "take a step foward." It didn't end well.... It looked like there was a ledge below but I fell a long ass way to my death. I wish the names of players who left notes were left with the note and I also wish you could invade specific people. Lmao
