You're not cool unless you have VHS copies still.

I still have my VHS THX Edition Box Set!!!

I just don't have a VCR to watch them on......:(

You people are insane with this nonsense Machete Order.

You watch them in release order. Original Trilogy first and then the prequels. Anything else is just blasphemy. It's like those weirdos that suggest playing the MGS games in chronological order instead of simple release order.

I didn't believe it until I tried it, but it works incredibly well. TPM literally added next to nothing of value to the overall story. It makes 2 & 3 into extended flashbacks that fill in the back story of the main story which becomes 4-5-6. In this vein you really don't need TPM because it actually hurts the overall arc dealing with Luke, Han, and Leia.

As long as you won't quote this post as bragging rights when you turn out to be correct. That's a very safe thing to bet on, I'm sure everyone had the same thought. :)

I'm actually going that the badass Chrometrooper wields a lightsaber, whether or not he or she can use the force. Just make this character a tremendously dangerous swordsman, maybe.

Same here, that and I watched them so many times when I was a kid I don't think they even work anymore.

She? Is it confirmed that it's Gwendoline Christie? Cause that would be pretty badass.

I am guessing it's either Nyongo or Christine just because we haven't see their characters yet/heard them for other roles.

Before hearing of Machete Order, I came up with...

4, 1, 2, 5, 3, 6

You get the beginning and hear of Clone Wars and then see the build up and Clone Wars. Then you see Luke coming to a cross roads about which direction he should go. You see his father turning to the Dark and then you get to see if he will follow in his father's footsteps.

Small role in the background and die a wussy death?

I mean, I love Boba but he had only really one good scene and then his death painted him in awful light.

edit: I saw death cause he died in the movies and since books aren't canon anymore, he is dead.

Saw this yesterday, but yeah, those two minutes were better than everything in I-III combined (and I actually don't think II and III are altogether terrible throughout). Hype!

I was just a kid when the prequels came out...was the general concensus that episode 1 was going to be good before it came out? How does the hype compare to where we're at now with episode 7

This is how I watch them now. I tried it a few months ago and it actually works so well that it almost feels like it was meant to be watched this way. And surprisingly, skipping 1 entirely not only improves the overall story but eliminates so much crap from it too. I mean Jar Jar is almost nonexistant when you skip 1, midochlorins never come up, you never have to suffer young Ani, you skip all that confusing Padme decoy shit, you never get bored with trade war exposition crap, I could go on.

Yep, 4-5-2-3-6 is my preferred way to watch them now.

I just read about this, and I think I'll try it out. It's been long enough since I've seen any of the films that I think it will be a cool experience.

Boba Fett film should be a two hour existential art flick about him being slowly digested in the sarlacc.

The movie could be like that story "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge." Boba Fett manages to escape the Sarlacc then has to find a way off Tatooine while avoiding the Tusken Raiders who are hunting him. He finally reaches his hidden ship and prepares to take off, then it explodes and everything goes black.

"Boba Fett was dead; his body, with a broken neck, floated gently from side to side within the bowels of the almighty sarlacc."

:p

Star Wars and George Lucas were held in such high regard before Episode I that I don't think its quality was even considered. It was a foregone conclusion that it would be good. When it came out it was a rude awakening... I'd say it actually took some time to set in, it was so unexpected that it would be bad.

This one is different though.... now we think Episode VII will be good because it's been put into the hands of Disney who are dedicated to getting it right. If it is possible to get a good Star Wars down to a science, Disney is attempting it. Time will tell if they succeed.

To be fair, it's not like you could now ever again watch these trailers with the eyes of someone who didn't know how the prequels would turn out back in the day.

Yup. Everything that now reads as one bad Episode I moment after another was then taken to be the whimsical new frontiers of a sure hit. People loved that trailer in its day.
