Batman v Superman [Official Trailer Release]

No but WB clearly didn't want to release this in the wake of the massive Star Wars teaser when it is still the dominate discussion all over the Internet. This trailer is not getting its time to shine. It's just a big mess in terms of how this is being launched into the public. It's fighting a losing battle for attention right now. All because of a stupid cellphone cam leak. But there is no fixing this now. Next teaser hopefully will have a better launch.

They should attach the next trailer to Force Awakens when it releases in December.

I think Luthor makes or breaks this movie

So I want to see him in the next teaser

Overall great teaser for the BvS setup

If I squint he kind of looks the same.

that's gotta be from a fantasy sequence or something. They straight up look like WWII German troops, but with Superman symbols on the arm.

they're doing the TDKR thing of city gone to shit and mobs backing heroes independently or whatever they can get from that concept. znyder has too big a hard on for dkr

what's weird is Superman seemingly embracing it but that's barely a guess from the shot

Post 1: This is completly wrong on so many levels that I dont even know if you watched the movie at all.

Post 2: Eh, it's very subjective. While I think he may have exaggerated it a bit, I pretty much agree with Phantom on this. I think Cavill was a brilliant casting for Superman, I just don't like the way the character was written for MoS. He certainly came across more dull and drab than other incarnations of Superman. I don't blame Cavill for that though, I blame the writing.

When you care more for the villain of the story, you've written the film the wrong direction. I wanted General Zod to win more than Superman as I felt more for General Zod's plight and cause (how it was written).

I think Cavill is fairly decent, he was just given rotten material to work with.

Good trailer.

I don't see why people say Superman seems to be the villain, it looks more like Batman is the one who will be on the wrong side.

I doubt it. It's most likely Superman intervening on behalf of a country who worships him.

That Polygon article makes even less sense, what idiot garbage spewed by the same tool as always... "... there's no real characterization on Batman" It's a god damn teaser ffs, where you expecting a 3 hour long exposition?
This is the part I don't get. This was a standard teaser as far as how much of the plot it revealed. Yet people are acting like it was supposed to feature full story beats and a synopsis. I'm lost.

I wonder if this Lex is an out-and-out baddie or if he sees himself as the hero of this story.
Lex is always the all out baddie that sees himself as the hero of the story. At least I hope we get a live action les that isn't obsessed with real estate and is more the successful businessman doing evil stuff in the background. Ala the DC animated series interpretation

I dunno. That looks pretty heavily stylized (and evoking Germany in WWII isn't a thing people accidentally do) for any sort of modern military force. Even if Metropolis has gone to shit (and I don't think that's even the case) they're not gonna start outfitting police (or even UN) with shit that makes them look like Supernazi Foot Soldiers.

edit: and yeah, as broncobuster pointed out, it's not like Superman actually fell through a mountain of skulls in Man of Steel. Fantasy-ish sequences are fair game in this movie.

So far as the shot of people reaching out to him, it appears he's saved a bunch of people at a Day of the Dead ceremony. Or at least that's my best guess.

I'm worried.

This is too big a fight to happen so early in Batman and Superman's relationships. It's based on Batman planning for years to figure out how to delay Superman for a matter of minutes.
I disagree and think the DCAU tackled it well in that context and a rookie fight makes more sense than a seasoned Superman throwing down. Here, you can see Superman's still finding his footing, so conflict is more rational.

After everyone knows and loves Superman and he's 100% solid in his role, it's insane for Batman to attack him and insane for Superman to fight back in any kind of meaningful way.

This is the perfect time to set up this one-in-a-lifetime matchup.

I have to say addressing the whole jesus and god factor in this movie is a fucking brilliant idea. It sets the tone for the franchise going forward once we start seeing more superbeings that they can be killed, they can die, they aren't all powerful. There's just another "level" of power.

Neil is Superman canon dude!

He could definitely appear in the movie.

Have I told you I love the relationship Superman has with science/scientists?

It just doesn't look all that special to me. It's overly dark and brooding and the "do you bleed?" line is so corny.

That said, I'm sure I'll eventually watch it.

...Zod was the biggest idiot of them all, if he wanted to succeed in his mission he would've done things in the opposite order...he could've saved the world engine for after getting a strike force together and killing Kal L THEN killed a bunch of people , THEN started spawning kyptonians, THEN used the world engines. Everything he needed to save Krypton as he put it, was in place and his forces no longer had to worry about ...dying...ever. Why he rushed into what was MoS's final act is still confusing. They were unnnnnnnnnkillable, and only getting stronger.

Batman and Lex Luthor: "WHAT IF SUPERMAN IS A BAD GUY?!?"

uuhhhh Superman fought a bunch of bad guys as strong as him last time

i don't think he's bad

Last night I said: holy shit.

Tonight, I say: HOLY SHIT.

We don't know that they're in Metropolis in the soldier shot; it could be somewhere significantly more... lawless.

Or maybe it's a "what if." I'm still hoping it's him dismantling some militarized cult; the next bit would be him trying to get the soldiers to stand.

That shit was a collection of poorly written, cliche'd-ass lines. Like one after the other after the other, hilarious. Looks bad.

That second voice, about the rage...is Jeremy Irons right?

Regardless, this trailer is beautiful.

What a few days it's been, and I love the slow narrative intense approach to the marketing.

LOVE IT!

KICK HIS ASS, BATMAN!

Damn, I've been watching this a few more times and I have to say, Affleck looks like he's going to knock this out of the park. The brooding and damaged look, the scowl. Damn, it just all looks so good.

And I imagine there were quite a few nay-sayers on GAF when he was casted, but he's going to be great, guaranteed.
