Wait, he can?

Again, people, Faora and that big guy didn't have any superpowers when they first landed. That was 100% tech.

Jesus. No. NO.

NO!!!

Fuck.

The Kryptonians suit is made out of a substance only found on Krypton. THAT is why it's indestructible. Their feats were purely them, absorbing Sunlight like Superman. They were granted super strength, speed, and invulnerability and had they stayed on the planet longer they would've gotten more powers...like Zod.

The only thing special about the suits were the fact that they couldn't be scratched...due to being of alien design.

This is Wrong. The movie states clearly that Earth Atmoshpere affects Kryptonian physioloogy, the movie portrays this as Sensory abilities being tied to it. Flight and Heat Vision are at least partially tied to this as well.
No, it doesn't. Here are the lines:
Your cells have drunken its radiation strengthening your muscles, your skin, your senses.
Earth's gravity is weaker, yet its atmosphere is more nourishing.
The strength you derived from exposure to the Earth's sun has been neutralized aboard our ship.
At no point is strength or powers tied to Earth's atmosphere or gravity. Rather it is tied to radiation or exposure to Kryptonian atmosphere.

The only reason Jor-El mentions Earth's environment is to explain how an alien from a harsher environment could survive on another planet, which sets up why he has trouble aboard the Black Zero. If the powers were dependent on atmosphere or gravity, the videos show several places where that rule is broken... likely making it NOT a rule.

As for the sensory attack, that's addressed in the video as well and nowhere does the film say exposure to Earth's atmosphere creates the full compliment of powers. Rather, we're given one explicit example of powers being deferred (flight) an explanation which works across the board.

How did people misinterpret that so badly?

They even had initial sickness at the exposure to the sun's radiation that granted them their powers. It was a significant plot point, not easily confused.

I like the theory that the organic nature of their tech shares some underlying trait that allows Kryptonians to be invulnerable under a yellow sun... so the tech wouldn't be invulnerable on Krypton, but would be on Earth... which isn't too far afield what the designers had in mind because the manacles look like spines, everything looks grown or organic... so that gene, or whatever, might be in some of their tech.

It's an unsupported theory, but kind of consistent with tradition, like Superman's clothing and ship being invincible on Earth.

Looks interesting to me. I think it contrasts well with the Marvel movies, something like the Avengers 1 is just a lot more colorful compared to this.

How in the world is Batman a believable opponent for Supes? Don't give me that prep time bullshit either. It makes no sense to me. How's he supposed to trade blows when you're fighting someone as strong as Superman?

This trailer seems to be from Batman's POV. Supes as a god, always being shown above humanity...I wonder if the next one will have a sort of anti-Batman view or from Supes POV? It would be interesting if that's how they are marketing it. Pick a side.

The only way I see it is if Batman figures out Sup's weakness which is Kryptonite but other than that it is a one sided fight.

That's really how they should market it. Since everyone have a favourite and the movie is called Batman v Superman.

Batman's voice at the end sort of sounds like it's going through a modulator.

This could mean that right before the two actually fights, Batman will have an armor plate over his mouth.

Gotta protect his teeth.

After watching it a lot of times I really like it but I think that the line at the end is stupid.
Irons and Eisenberg sound good.
Also I hope that the modulation on bats voice is only when he's in the robo-bat suit.

Can't wait to see Darkseid and Brainiac all Zack Snyderfied. Shit's going to be glorious.

It definitely is, and I think it sounds really cool. I want to know if it will be like that throughout the movie or just when he's in the armour.

With how it's presented here, I wonder if WB is using the trailer to gauge fan reaction on it.

I'm guessing this is set at least 2-3 years after the events of Man of Steel. I'm basing that entirely on how long it would take to build a statue that big and how long it would be until the world would see Superman as their savior.

Meh. Of the blockbusters on the horizon, it's probably the one I'm least excited about. I didn't really like MoS. I'll give it a chance though.

Looks okay. It feels like it's trying to be too serious and that's what's throwing me off. You have a light hearted character meshing with the opposite. Hopefully the story develops good, but so far it feels so forced for drama when there probably isn't going to be any. Idk, I'm not that impressed.

Comparing this to the Avenger which also doesn't look too hot imo, they both feel like disappointments. What's going on?

which one are you referring to?

it's kinda low for me, but that's because of the other interesting stuff coming up. my hype chart:

star wars > mad max > xmen apocalypse > batman vs superman = civil war > pan > avengers 2

which one was that?

Superman. He has never screamed "Serious" to me the way Batman is. His sense of humor isn't dry and concerning. It just feels like he has to be mad or questioning something to be dark. Idk, it's not how I imagine superman... But then again, his origins are not something I'm A+ certified in knowing tbh.

I was being facetious. Man of Steel was anything but lighthearted lol. I don't think Superman has been lighthearted since Reeves.

just hoping this film gives us some room for slightly aloof clark kent and fucking daylight in metropolis.

i'd be fine with batman's scenes all being set in the night (and bruce wayne in the day) since that's appropriate.

Plenty of serious issues in Superman comics. So many.

OT:
This movie will be EPIC beyond belief.

Super excited. Love the TDKR superman and love all the stuff Jonathon Kent said coming to fruition in this film. It's nice to see Superman going through the process that makes him who he is and will be once Justice League and sequels come out. Love the tone. It's a nice contrast to what we get with Marvel.
