I think that's around the level (?) I did it around lvl 128 - 134. Use Clockwise Metamorphosis to help boost your HP. You can actually parry the first boss of the Defiled dungeon to death. Wait till
The Keeper swings the sword, then shoot :) I can post my parry video if you think it will help.

edit: for the Defiled Pthumeru dungeon

edit2: forgot to mention I had no idea you could kill Father G before he transform into a beast D:

Thank you, I killed him. Parry helped immensely.

Are there any benfits in applying an elemental gemstone to your weapon as opposed to just popping a bolt or fire paper? Seems like some enemies take zero damage with the stone on.
When you slot in a fire/arcane/bolt gem you lose all physical scaling and the weapon only scales with arcane. If you have high arcane its viable otherwise dont bother

You're going to do this. I BELIEVE IN YOU, MAN.

Yes! Thank you! I am pretty sure now that I will!

But not today. Have to get an oil change, go to the gym, clean the apartment and head to NYC for an experimental/drone show my friends are playing... Sigh. Real life getting in the way. :-P

I just did the first chalice dungeon, and was awarded nothing. Is that normal? I walked out of three floors with very little in terms of value.

The early ones don't have much. The end game ones have unique weapons, highest end runes, highest end gems, tons of blood echoes...

I'm currently stuck on the B
lood-starved
B
itch
in Ailing Loran Chalice Layer 2. I know it's doable but I'm just frustrated due to losing all of my supplies to her when she really posed no problem in my NG.

After this, it's down to the next layer to collect some Bastard of Loran, and then straight into the Defiled Chalice Dungeon.

I'm lvl 90, with 30 vitality. Am I too underlevelled for that dungeon right now?

With 30 VIT everything in the defiled chalice will one shot you.

i got hit with another glitch, there is no sign of
crown of illusion
in my inventory :|
Edit: nevermind i m an idiot

Eyeing Chalice glyphs from the Reddit spreadsheet that apparently have a Blood Rock and +100 Eye rune. Seems like a great path to farming Blood Stone Chunks for some post-game fun, as I can't seem to get them to drop equipping the other two Eye runes.

The thing is, I'll need to make an instance of the Chalice first before searchin with a glyph, right? So many materials...gah.

Got to Rom Last night. Hes definitely tough. Any advice or tips for whooping his ass? I think Im level 52

52 is plenty strong to take him out. My tip is to be patient. He doesn't attack you in the first phase. Take out all the small spiders from behind (threaded cane aoe r2 attack does it in one hit) move right next to him, apply bolt paper and spam r1 attacks. Don't stop hitting even while he's teleporting. The objective is to take out at least 50% of his health before he starts fighting back.

Next phase stay within range of all the spiders. This should keep the meteor strikes to a manageable level. His other attacks are easy to dodge. Take out the spiders again. You will get hit and take damage but keep healing and use the regain mechanism heavily. Once the spiders are down spam r1 on rom again and keep going till he teleports. In the final phase he's a lot more aggressive but should have only 10% health left. Survive the initial meteor blasts heal up and keep running at the boss, getting in one or two hits and running away. Ignore the spiders.

Which one with the eye, 1-117?

You usually get items for creating another dungeon, ritual blood and so on. In the other chalice dungeons with depth 4 or 5 there are other loot you could get.

D
arkbeast Paarl
down in second try. Easiest boss for me so far other than
Hemwick Witch
. I think I was overleveled for him. Beat him after beating
Rom and Amygdala.

Finally, after a few days of struggling, I managed to beat the second floor of the defiled chalice dungeon. Damn, that boss was a huge pain in the ass. Can't wait to see what's in store for me in floor 3!

Darkbeast Paarl
down on 2nd attempt 8)

I got battered by that
hunter
in the house in
Byrgenwerth
mind 8)

Darn it. It wasn't that much, but losing money so early in the game i annoying. At least it won't add to soul memory, lol.
Try to not keep a lot of blood echos on you, this happens a lot, it happened to me five or six times in about ~150 hours of play time.

Finally beat
THAT FAT FUCK ROM
solo. Right now i'm in
Yar'gull (sp) and just found those 3 hunters who put out the lantern at Apogeon Gaol. Any advice on taking these guys out? I'm not doing much damage on them :/

I am almost afraid to find out the answer to this...

If I need another Rock, where do I go other than into NG+?

You can backstab
the one with the claws or the one with the whip. Focus on one, the Claws has less HP than the other two from my experience. Lure them back towards the lamp if you need to.
They don't respawn so you can just play safe. If all else fails you could try poison knives.
The claw hunter gets poisoned pretty quickly though you still need a few to kill him completely. This should make things easier at least. They are pretty easy to parry if you can isolate one.

I think I had around 35 or 36 VIT, along with those two runes, and managed to complete the Defiled Dungeon. My total health, after being halved, was 811. That was enough to survive getting hit by one charge attack by Watchdog of the Old Lords.

Ah, nice. I think every little bit of health helps, though. Not too tough to grind out some vitality levels later in the game to help your chances. I think I ended my platinum run with 46 or 47 vitality.

I think you can get them in the later Chalice Dungeons. Might as well do them since it will get you materials and will get you closer to the platinum.

Yo should have got a central chalice for beating the last boss I believe. If you did not, something was bugged. You might have to recreate it again maybe.

Aggro them and just run back to the lantern. Only one should follow you all the way back. Kill him and repeat the same process with the second one. One on one, they are not very hard at all.

Thanks man. I will keep all that in mind. Going to farm echoes for now and try to level up a bit though, been neglecting that lately

Try to fight them one at a time, backstab the naked one and run back to the area near the lamp, usually only the one you hit will follow you all the way.

I like to complete a chalice and then go to a wiki to make sure I didn't miss anything important (
hidden chalices, tools,
rare materials, etc.) before I erase it.

After getting absolutely slaughtered by the BSB, I say fuck it, I'm going to try it one last time before I stop for the day... I kill it with it only hitting me once. The hilarity of this game sometimes.

Kinda stuck as to what to do now: Chalice Dungeons or press on with the main. What are the differences with the types of Chalice Dungeons?

And if I wanted to do the main,
do I just fight the gatling gun guy?

Was anybody able to use the "Short Ritual Root Chalice"?
I tried searching for someone to help on coop for half an hour and nothing.

Generally I've found the preset ones don't have any amazing rewards. Mostly materials to... make another chalice dungeon. There are some clothes you can only get in them though. Not sure if the presets have any of the alternate weapons, haven't found any yet. I will say that I haven't found anything really in any of the bonus rooms either, except again, mats.

should i be running Chalices with 'eye' runes (Discovery) or can i keep whatever i want on? Just finished up c3, layer 4, last night, so only have the deep ones to go.

I've spent hours hitting every wall in that layer, and never found a way up. I'm contented to pretend it was nothing important, since important stuff in the chalice dungeons are always in coffins.

yeah, i know it's nothing important. maybe another connected room has something cool, but that's extremely unlikely. i just like to clear dungeons.

I would avoid Chalice Dungeons. I found the first one to be really boring and they are not required to beat the main game. I guess the later ones have some good items and you also have to do them to get trophies, but otherwise, I'd just skip them.

What I did: back-stabbed the one in the open and then ran out through the front door, turned right and then immediately right again. There is a row of columns outside so just used LoS and charged R2 attacks around the columns. Only
two hunters
followed me every time I tried that.

Do the bosses from the main game have the same health and attack power from NG in the chalice dungeons?Or are they tougher?
