Very first statement:

I can understand the complaint of it being hard to focus on with so much going on since I remember people having similar complaints about Pacific Rim, so I made it a point to find a seat in the theater that wasn't too close where I couldn't see the whole screen. It wasn't bad but I can completely understand where it could not look as good for people (I definitely prefer watching Pacific Rim in 3D in a home theater setting over 2D though)

Still, I don't put a lot of weight in someone who doesn't like 3D saying they didn't like the 3D or that it was bad.

As someone who already wars glasses, putting on a pair of 3D glasses ruins the experience from the get go. It's awful.

I didn't want to see it in 3D, but I had no choice on opening day in my theatre... No 2D option

Yep, already wearing glasses makes it extra annoying.

GRRR. Hopefully my wife's company can make up their mind about whether or not my wife has to go overseas for a business trip.

Either I'm gonna be watching it in 18 hours, or 1 month after... :/

Ugh. Fell asleep at around 10pm last night, just knackered. No way am I ready for the midnight showing. But dammit, I have to try.

Wonder why they bothered with an "out of 5" scale when they give silly scores like 4.75.

Not just the 4.75, but the 4.2 as well. 4.75 makes you think "Oh, maybe they just use quarters of a point as well. Not that weird. So it's basically a score out of twenty." But then you see the 4.2. Now, in vacuum, that would make you think "Huh. Tenths of a point. I can handle that, too. It's a 50 point scale, then. That's reasonable." But, in a system with tenths of a point, 4.75 is now achievable again! So the only system that could have both values possible (assuming it's consistent, which, of course it isn't, I'm just overthinking it here) would be one that goes by increments of .05. Or smaller! So basically, they offer a far higher resolution of review score than it seems, but still insist on sticking with a 5 point scale.

It's out tomorrow here, but I must resist until next week, as the theatre near me is going to show the english version on the 29th.
There should be no children and stupid teens around for that showing, I can't wait é_é

I do not even have the opportunity to watch this in IMAX 2D or just plain 2D here in The Netherlands. I absolutely hate 3D but I will put it aside for this movie.

The Hawkeye hype is real.

Indeed. Given what I've heard of Hawkeye, I'm going to go ahead and make a guess. I'll throw it in spoiler bars just in case people are nervous or whatever, but to be clear, this is 100% speculation, I have no inside info, and haven't even seen the most recent trailers.

Something about the situation makes me think Hawkeye is going to die, what with all the hype he's been getting. I hope it's wrong. I'd hate to fall in love with him and see him get killed.

Hasn't Hawkeye been confirmed for Civil War? Could be a misdirect I guess.

Tickets booked for Thursday afternoon. So hyped. Ultron was one of my favorite villains growing up.

Italian reviews looking good so far, some pointed out that it feels like a transitionary movie but overall everyone agree it's damn fun. Tomorrow I'll post my thoughts just after the screening, of course without spoilers.

Another review from a dutch site with an English translation. The does seem to be spoilers in the review though so beware. The last paragraph is very positive at least.

Seriously dude?

I stopped caring about the Marvel films after Iron Man 3 but I got two free tickets through work to see this in an early showing next Thursday, can someone catch me up?

There have been three movies since then (Thor2, Captain America2, and Guardians of the Galaxy) of those, only the first two will have any bearing on Age of Ultron.

For Thor2, there's really nothing you need to know, except that the bifrost bridge was repaired and Thor ended up on earth. (big spoiler for Thor2)
Also, Loki ended up on the throne in disguise as Odin

As for Cap2...very, very strongly suggested you see it for yourself. In addition to it being one of the best action films of last year, a LOT happened in it that will directly affect the Avengers story. That said, I'm sure someone will post an update for you, if you really want one, PM me and I'll send one, but, again, I think you should take the two hours and give it a watch.

So apparently about 200 cinemas in Germany are boycotting Avengers 2.

Apparently Disney unilaterally changed the existing contracts and is demanding much more money, which would result in huge price hikes. The ticket would cost about 15€ instead of the already high 12 and the cinema would have less from it than before.

Now I do want to see the film but that is just ridiculous. Hope to hear from more sources so a full picture can emerge. (I read it here in German)

€15 is standard ticket-price here, which is why I don't visit the cinema nearly as much as I'd love to.

Yeah, either i am blind or i don't see a list/names of the cinemas that take part in the boycott, dear Focus journalists, a list or some names would be really helpful.

I don't want to miss out on that movie, and if so many cinemas don't show the movie, the others are crouded as heck ... let alone the hassle of getting tickets reserved again ... come on Kinopolis Viernheim, don't let me down!

Wow, 15 € for a ticket? Might i ask where you live? Here in Baden-Württemberg/the southern bottom of Hessen (where my good to go cinema is), it's about 10 to 12 €, with weekend days being the more expensive ones.

I'm in The Netherlands, near Amsterdam.

Luckily I got my tickets for Thursday no problem, "only" paid the 12€ as well. Interesting to know though.

Those ticket prices are insane. I can't complain at all seeing what some of you guys are paying compared to the costs here. Madness.

Got my ticket for this friday, 12 usd here (on 3D).

Will probably go again by the end of May to see it again in 2D.

Disney is notorious for these practices when a popular franchise is involved. I remember when I was working at a local cinema during the time of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End the distributor and Disney were playing high stakes. Disney wanted to get a 90% fee over each ticket sold, which meant either the tickets had to go up or pray that people would buy a lot of popcorn.

In the end, like two days before release the distributor got the fee down to 75% and Disney began delivering the films to the distributor. I remember I had to come into work to help putting the acts together and we finished like half an hour before the first showing because my colleague messed up one of the films and taped act 3 before act 2. Good times.

Seeing it in two days time, I am not expecting much (considering how everyone raved on about The Avengers as being a 10/10 film... but when I saw it - it was more like a 7/10 experience) but it should be somewhat fun.
