Well fuck, the tickets I've booked are for the 3d showing.

FUCK.

One should always avoid 3D if given a choice. The picture quality is always substantially reduced and is always harder to track fast action scenes. Having said that different people have different tolerance levels for 3D so hopefully that person has very little tolerance level and was exaggerating the problems.

I can't believe people still watch movies in 3D. I hate having the film choose what I should be focusing on.

Every movie does that, it's called cinematography.

If a 3D projection seems dim that's the theater's fault, trying to save money(you're supposed to project 3D movies at 3X normal brightness). Shit, the other day this movie theater I went to was showing a 2D movie darker than normal. :P

Don't 3D showings involve some kinda filter that cuts down on brightness? A filter that they often leave on for 2D showings in the same theater? Causing both 3D and 2D to be incredibly dim?

You know what I mean. By watching the film in 3D your eyes are drawn more to what is "popping out" at you rather than the entire shot. This is at least true for me.

If anything I feel like a 3D movie (especially one done post production) ruins the cinematography.

Nah, I disagree. First of all when was the last time you saw a 3D movie? Pop out is not very prevalent any more for gimmicky shots and is used when it makes sense. If something is popping out at you then that's what they want to focus on whether the shot is in 2D or 3D.

There is no difference to me in focusing on everything in a scene in a 3D movie and doing so in real life.

Yeah, I'm usually okay with 3d movies, so fingers crossed it's not an issue.

Thursday will be the only viewing I'll be able to get in for a week...really hope it's not a disaster.

Probably Jurassic Park.

I just do not like 3D and have a hard time focusing on it. Just a waste of money for me.

I loved IM3. Not the best of the bunch but still a great film. Tony and Rhodey doing the buddy cop action at the end was a great Shane Black laugh too.

Best way for me to describe my thoughts on Iron Man 3 is I liked it more as a Shane Black film than as an Iron Man film.

I've already slept today. Just need to shower before I head out to the theatre.

Well, yea, but AoU is 19 hours away from the beginning of the first movie. You'd be tired and ready to sleep again by then.

Better plan would've been to schedule sleep time through the boring movies :P

Still amazed people dislike IM3. Shit is the best Marvel film.

It's a bit of a conflict for me because I like it as a movie but for some reason I hated all the extremis stuff.

Alright tickets booked, Saturday night for dinner at the dine in theater. It's the only place with reserved seating anywhere near us, and for a movie like Avengers, I don't want any seat shenanigans.

Heading off to the 22 hour Marvel marathon now, this time in 24 hours (If I'm alive) I'll be watching Age Of Ultron. Man it's been a long wait from that comic con reveal in 2013

I went to the marathon for the first Avengers. That was a ton of fun even with the lesser films due to the room full of fans.

It'll be good craic, lot of marvel fans. And I'm not going alone, and theres supplies, so I'll be well hyped for Ultron tomorrow.

Well, enjoy the craic at least. I wouldn't have it in me, I managed a double bill when Thor: The Dark World came out but just barely, couldn't manage what you're doing!

Do people just chat the whole time though? I can't imagine that everyone would be able to just focus on films they've already seen (possibly multiple times before) to just sit and watch for 24 hours.

Yeah, mostly quietly with occasional loud reactions to the movie on screen.

My theater has one of those IMAX screens (not the full size one, unfortunately) and I love watching movies on it, but most of the time the 3D goes hand-in-hand. If given the option, I'd watch AoU on the bigger screen in 2D, but 3D is the only option so I'll just suck it up
