Halo 3 ODST and Relic map for Halo MCC releasing next month

Do people even play this game anymore? I re-purchased for $20, but haven't even got around to opening it.

I feel like they should have just made it F2P at this point with XBL account.

Well, I know what I'm doing next month.

Ditto. (In between witcher 3 sessions) By the way this is the greatest suit up gif ever.

Such a shame there's no firefight, but odst's campaign is seriously among the very best. Looking forward to it

The game should've been free with gold and those who purchased it given a credit or something on xbox live.

Sure, a massive loss. But MS dropped the ball on one of their biggest franchises. I would've respected them more had they admitted the mistake and just made the game free.

Why would it never happen?

Well, never say never, but I think there are a couple of really good reasons.

- MCC was plagued with issues since launch. This is likely due to the complexity of merging five different game engines (or five iterations of the same game engine), originally created with their own conflicting iterations of network code and functionality. There are an intense amount of variables there that could go wrong when you are constantly going in and out of different modes, maps, player counts, engines etc. Adding Halo 5 to the mix would only complicate, and possibly break things again. I would say that the MCC experiment kind of ended in a minor PR disaster for them, why risk it again when no one was happy with the situation?

- Halo will be a standalone game, and likely require its own 5gb pool of ram. Every time Halo 5 is booted from MCC, MCC would likely need to close, while Halo 5 is opened. This would kind of make it pointless to do, since you can already just go back to the home menu and select the different games to boot up. It would logically only give things a minor convenience boost, unless 343i did some memory management wizardry (which is certainly possible).

Of course, I could be wrong about the memory thing, but that seems logical to me. Never mind that you'd also have to add to the mix, the people who don't own MCC and would be booting the game from the Halo 5 UI and only playing Halo 5 game modes. So there's just a lot of room for problems in a game where they probably can't afford to risk it. I would kill to have this be a real feature though.

i diddnt get the chance to play it while it was broken, so i missed it as a freebee. any word on how much its gonna cost?

Yes. There is a ton of people playing. The game just started effectively working like a month ago. Really it's like it just launched.

As someone (lucky) enough to have a PS4, XB1, Vita and (older) Wii plus a gaming pc...this just adds to the already big challenge I have for May to get through all these wonderful games.

Never played the Halo games till I got my XB1 a few months ago and just starting Halo 3 on the MCC so is ODST part of that story or seperate? My plan is to finish all the MCC games before Halo 5 is released so I can enjoy the squee of the community when everyone is playing at once.

Now back to Bloodborne...

I hope I qualify for this because I played MCC online and offline before the cut off date but never got the free Gold.

It'll be great if I do though, then I'll only be missing Reach. One of my summer goals is to finish the franchise's story :)

I think BF4 and Simcity had worst launches.

BF4? No. That game was playable with groups of friends and launch. And only improved with time.

MCC playing maps constantly with friends wasn't possible. I played maybe 10 matches in the first few months I owned the game. And I tried nearly every day.

ODST approaches the campaign a little different then the other halo games, there's an overworked hub and you discover parts of the story as you go, playing the flashback to different moments. most of not all of the game is based from a segment in halo 2 and you see it happen from the ODST perspective.

I should add that ODST is like a stand alone halo 3 expansion like the good old days of gaming.

Is there a way to verify if you are getting ODST for free? I definitely played before the cutoff date, but I remember not getting the 1 month bonus when everyone was getting that, and was trying to figure that out, but forgot to follow through since.

I played single player for a bit prior to the cutoff, and also played in two online matches on the last day before the cutoff.

I still think ODST is going to be a free update for all MCC owners with no cut off date. Microsoft are going to save the annoucement for later and ride the good will gesture to E3 and Halo 5. I honestly think they would be fools not to. They've burned so many.

I remeber receiving a message on Xbox live, then receiving another message in January via email when my free month of gold was activated.

I would pay $15 for a Reach DLC including Invasion MP

With ODST i can finally play the original version, german dub is so horrible in the Halo franchise.

FUCKING AWESOME

I am in a deep sci-fi need after Star Wars trailer, Battlefront trailer, Deus Ex trailer and Mass Effect 4 leak.

I need a new (for me) sci-fi game to play. ODST fits the bill perfectly.

Haven't had time to try it again, but how is the matchmaking at the moment?
Need to kill some time till Witcher 3 releases.

The current patch made things worse again. Uneven teams are a thing again, games still crashing and you are getting punished for quitting, which is normally a good thing, but not in the MCC. At least not yet...

Funny thing is, if the game crashes, it counts as quitting and you will get punished sooner or later.

The never fixed the saved game issue on BF4.

They never fixed the same issue in BF3 either.

But it's fine now, the player base is increasing because of the bundles.
