While true, it sucks to have to play a game mode you're just not into in order to get stuff you want. Honestly, I'd be more than fine with PvP people able to get raid stuff from winning tournaments or something if it meant I never had to set foot in the crucible ever again. I don't want to fight you other Guardians! I just want to be friends! :-(

Would be nice if they did that, so we can mix and match more armor and also get the good weapons the other are selling, which is nice that some are not limited to Level Packages now.

All in all I am pretty excited about this.

He really didn't care about keeping his spot in Bungie's grace. Deej couldn't keep up with him: the only thing he could do was telling him "he would watch the next twitch from home".

I agree, though they could also toss a bit of a wrench into it and make each have their own marks, too. I feel like that would be okay, as it would mean you need to keep their faction item on if you really want it, but not tie it strictly to one or the other type of mark. It would also mean if you reach 100 marks for the week that you could earn marks for a faction, thus giving you a bit more incentive to play for that type of reward.

Seriously. They had time for a whole conversation in the loading screen going from the reef to the tower.

The first half hour of the twitch was "Check out our glorified menu"

After the first 5 minutes of walking around the reef, the "ooo"s and "aahhh"s will fade and it will be people sprinting from vendor to vendor as quickly as possible to do the shit that actually matters, just like the tower.

If they put all functionality of the social areas into a menu that was accessible from orbit, would anyone ever use them? I think nope

I don't understand why there isn't any uproar about not being able to buy old weapons specially now that you can updrade them, I found it strange when Crota's End hit and I still do now. Seriously.


The stream was pretty ok, lots of fixes and some new stuff thrown in for good measure. They still have ways to go but the things are looking pretty good even though there was nothing really spectacular shown today.

This stream was basically a wake up call for some people to grind the shit out of this game before the DLC hits and I'm afraid I may just do that.

AS someone who didn't get a lot of guns pre the latest expansion i think this is good...there is a snapshot of time when those guns are available and then it is gone. The best guns, those from the raid will continue to be available.
 
Thanks for the summary links - a lot of that sounds like minor adjustments - very inside baseball stuff for the already hardcore (materials, upgrades, etc.). Nothing sexy for a lapsed player like myself so far.

But I take it that since Xur moves between The Reef and The Tower that Bungie wants players to visit both locations rather than offer the Reef as a replacement hub for higher level players. Its a curious choice.

Yeah, they updated it (visually) to TDB 31 Vanguard gear...

I can't complain too much though, lots of positive changes in this DLC.
 
I like how Deej didn't look at the top row of "rewards" for Trials of Osiris.

I'm assuming those are just rando packages that contain the gear and drops from the trials.
 
The reef seemed small and pointless. They should have just made those vendors accessible through the Tower.

Just add a big drop ship that you can climb aboard to make it feel 'different'.
 
All this stuff looks great: resource exchange, reforging, upgrading weapons and armor to the new attack/light levels. And yet, I hate to sound like a downer, but we still need a bunch of more strikes and missions in new areas to use our cool new shit, not space tacked onto existing ones we've run through a million times by now. I don't care about PvP, but the Trials of Osiris stuff might be interesting, and I'm still looking forward to the Prison of Elder, more out of curiosity than anything. I would love to come back to this game for the solid gunplay, but there's simply nothing new for me to do.

And can they please give us the opinion to buy faction gear with vanguard marks?

This is what I was worried about but didn't want to say anything.

They still have a shit ton to learn. Still, there are a lot of good updates in this patch, even if they should have been in the game Day 1.

At least for guns, faction gear drops constantly in nightfalls and roc strikes
 
Following the thread because I'm at work and can't watch twitch. Did they say anything about vanguard or crucible marks?

So happy about the 1 mote cost to upgrade, and the speaker about to give me a shit ton of motes. Hopefully there's a shit ton of new shaders available to buy.
