It's a better movie than the first Avengers, especially visually. Only reason I can see why people like the first one more is because that was the first time the whole MCU cast was in one film, so this doesn't feel as fresh as the first one did because of it.

Also, Paul Bettany has great screen presence.

Nope I disagree. I prefer the first one because I think it's just better overall, not just because it was fresh.

I hope Avengers does not have poorly thought out shaky cam mediocre as hell action sequences as the bolded. Furious 7 is pretty low bar for blockbuster action movies.

Not much shaky cam, but a lot of the action is badly edited. Far too much cutting. There are a handful of great extended shots, but a lot of it is like Liam Neeson jumping a fence in Taken 3.

Edit: Ok, this is an exaggeration, but it can get pretty bad.

This dude has an editing job and I don't? FUCK THE WORLD.

Fk my eyes are destroyed with that gif. This is not good news :( . I know there are enough people who like stuff like Furious 7 and if this movie is catering to them then I have no hope for the film. If you are showing a punch fkin show it like how movies back then did. Not shake the camera and highlight your insecurities as a director in capturing a decent fight scene. It does not make it more visceral , it just makes me more nauseous. Also editing like this is terrible. How the fk did this get a green signal?

It's a really great movie. The script is sharp and funny and thrilling and it goes and it doesn't stop until the credits roll.

However, I don't think I particularly like it and I can't quite put my finger on exactly why.

With a jet not his own weapon...And Cap got shot by him a couple times without getting any wound. This is ridiculous.

Cap is a modified super soldier. Quicksilver is just a man who runs fast. Remember, that jet was supposed to kill Hawkeye, who had most of the "you're just a regular guy" stuff enforced onto the movie as his main arc (and it also turns into another good meta moment because of it - its interesting that Wanda is the more prominent twin since the kind of innate relationship between Hawkeye and Pietro is even more interesting).

Anyone here seen it in 3D? Worth bothering with? I'm not fussed, like, I don't mind 3D but my sister has said it's the only film she would ever watch in 3D (she usually dislikes it) so is it worth the extra money?

3D, like the exposition in this film, is perfunctory.
Star Wars trailer shown before them film had good 3D, this didn't.

And that's my biggest complaint with AoU thus far. In Avengers 1, at least each character got to play out their action scene - the camera was steady and you could even see The Hulk smashing things (and knowing what he was smashing). In AoU, it's edited to the point where you just see him, and debris flying around - at least, that's what I was seeing. Will need repeat viewings to get what the hell is going on!

The quick and short edits really hampered my impression of one character, specifically:
Quicksilver. If his scenes were extended and not heavily edited, I think he may have surpassed DoFP Quicksilver based on personality, but alas, he didn't get a full, satisfying scene.

Hmm, ok. Well it's only £2 more expensive and as long as it doesn't impact on the enjoyment of the film then might as well give it a go. Think the last 3D film I saw was Hugo so it's been a while.

Like most 3d movies, you kinda forget its 3d after about 5 minutes.

But I loved the film. Probably going to go see again.

My only (minor) complaint was we only got San Andreas and the latest Ant Man trailer. i would have really liked to see Tomorrowland and Star Wars trailers.

I'm guessing it's that 3D where it was all done in post-production, and not legit 3D then, like Hugo or Avatar?

lol kinda exaggerating on that taken gif. the edits were good but not on Russo level good that you can follow the action thoroughly.

I don't think that's true for the most part, not anywhere close to the Taken 3.

I said I was exaggerating with the gif. A real example would be how the hand-to-hand combat is shown. There are a few instances where Cap does multiple moves within a single shot, but most of the time there's a cut after every hit or movement. There needs to be like five cuts for Scarlett Johansson just to take a tumble at one point. The action is never incomprehensible, but it's never very impressive either.

yup, that's what i noticed as well. thank the heavens the russos are doing infinity war.

Just a YES/NO answer on this please :

is there a mid-credits scene and a after credits scene?

mid credits. yes

post credits. no

I asked this a few days ago and forgot that I asked so I apologize if it was already answered.

How is Hawkeye in this? Is he as good as promised or does he cement his role as the lackey of the group?

He is enhanced, but not invincible.
I just didn't get why Ultron's weapon was so weak. It didn't even break Cap's costume...If the jet's cannon could kill, so should Ultron's weapon.

To be fair, Scarlett was pregnant during the filming of the movie. I'm sure for her specifically, they would have had to do more editing tricks than normal to get the shots they needed with her.

Saw it last night, loved it personally. Sure it has some flaws (I'll post more comprehensively later about them in the spoiler thread) but it was all I wanted from an Avengers movie.

Just finished watching it. Thought it was good, but not amazing like Winter Soldier or GotG.

In terms of universe impact, nothing equivalent to something everyone in every movie from hereafter will talk about like "The Battle of New York" in Avengers 1. The impact is more on an individual level, each member of the team and how they will change from here on. I think Civil War will provide the large universe sweeping changes instead.

Just watched it.

Really enjoyed it. The first time I watched the first Avengers I wasn't blown away. This time though I think they hit all the right notes. It might be because they spent less time on Tony Stark and more time of the other Avengers. Hawkguy gets his time to shine (and he's awesome) and Black Widow and Banner also get enough to do here. All the new comers are great and Ultron was such a good villain. I think they hit The Vision out of the park too.

Well done Joss for another fantastic Avengers movie.

Off topic, but what trailers were attached to the film?
