Eyes may be a little pale, but I've seen people in real life with eyes so light blue they seemed white.

I heard A Most Violent Year was pretty good.
It's not about mob. But its a good movie. Although i really didn't like Chastain in it.

Which goodfellas scene?
Funny how ?

I guess he's referring to the "Do I seem funny to you?" scene but aside from the conversation's structure it's not actually the same scene in intent or purpose.
In a mundane subject , he's using his position to intimidate the other interlocutor . Not just structure.

Really, when's the last time we actually got a good one? I don't even know. American Gangster?

The Drop was pretty dope.

Straight up gangsters (rise and fall) Nameless Gangster and New World are pretty enjoyable.

How come they don't talk like Southies from Bawston.

Otherwise that is like a top notch Trailer very well done.

Whoa Deep not playing some wacky character? Color me interested. Pretty intense trailer.

You mean the same wacky character

It's fascinating that Depp is know mostly as "the weirdo in makeup" these days. I first became aware of him from movies like Platoon, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Donnie Brasco, A Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. In other words, more "serious" roles.

Ed Wood is one of his best roles ever and he's just a normal (albeit really quirky/naive) guy in that.

I've never stopped thinking he was a good actor (he certainly commits to everything he does) but he's been in this vortex of shit roles trying to recapture that Jack Sparrow magic for over a decade now.

I'd love to see him just play it straight for a few movies.

I didn't care for American Gangster much. Was pretty forgettable.

I liked The Departed. Despite it being one of those movies GAF decided to shit on after it was initially enjoyed.

Really liked Depp in the trailer. I hope we see him take more roles like this.

I know Crazy Heart was well received, but never really heard much about Out of the Furnace. Anyone have opinions on the director Scott Cooper?

Depp is great in that trailer though I find it hilarious that even in a movie about real human beings, he's still wearing makeup and prosthetics.

Looks like we're gonna get a movie to double feature with Donnie Brasco.

I wish they would release the superior theatrical cut on blu-ray.

edit: Wow I just looked into it again and apparently they finally released it last year!

My issues with Out of the Furnace were largely script-related, but Cooper can definitely evoke an incredibly strong atmosphere. The location in that film feels more post-apocalyptic than most actual post-apocalyptic settings.

Coming off of hearing about new Pirates of the Caribbean I'm baffled to be this excited about a Johnny Depp movie again

contact glasses or not...

damn, what a strong stare and ... aura? has Depp in this role, it's intimading as hell.

I can't believe this guy made Mortdecay just some months ago.

Looks good. Nothing wrong with an actor wanting to closely resemble the real person he's portraying. I imagine you'll quickly get used to it.

Hey, now, I've always hated The Departed.

My dad used to tell me all about his buddy Whitey, he is a former Winter Hill gang member. Pretty crazy shit. I will be seeing this day one, for sure.

Now that's one hell of a trailer and a role Depp needs in his carrier like water in the desert. Let's hope for the best, I'm so tired of his Jack Sparrow it's not even funny. And he played the exact same in that western, I forgot the name.

It's good to see a movie with Depp returning to acting, instead of projecting Jack Sparrow on everything and their mothers. Good trailer, will check out this movie.

Depp taking a break from paycheck movies to do something that will at minimum earn him an Oscar nod? Looks great. Excellent trailer too, no reveals.

I am just fucking glad that Depp finally stars in a movie where he isn't another Jack Sparrow. You can clearly see this guy can act when he gets pushed for more serious roles.

I liked the trailer, but I don't think Depp is the best casting for this. He can try to be as menacing as he wants, it just comes over as being constipated, trying to fart and being scared about shitting your pants.

There are plenty of Hollywood actors who can pull off the psychopath killer face without even trying. They should have cast Gary Oldman in this instead.

Still, stoked to go and see this. I really liked Scott Cooper's (he's the director) Out of the Furnace for some unexplained reason.

Depp is scary man! Dem eyes!

Great trailer, this movie is now one of my most anticipated, hope it delivers.

Huh. You seem to be the only person (or one of the few) in this thread that feels that way. To me, Depp looks like he's killing it in this trailer.
