Is the CGI really that bad? I have found CGI in recent Marvel films to be really good. Especially the the Winter Soldier which had some of the best in recent years.

Winter Soldier was better, but it's by no means "best in recent years", in my view.

I just thought the CGI in this was way too much and in some parts really took me out of the movie.

This movie is not all that impressive, in terms of action and VFX.

Black Widow riding on Hulk's back up a flying fucking city that's been turned into a makeshift meteor was full of fucking cringe.

It felt like they took a hatchet to it in the editing room.

Not a bad movie at all in my opinion but I had a lot of LotR cut extended scene déjà vu. Pieces seemed missing, I'm not sure that the missing pieces would solve all of my issues but they might help explain some things.

Exactly this - the first half in particular is very disjointed. That's why I really only want to see it again when I can see the deleted scenes/extended edition.

Shitty quality and foreign language

That's the worst portrait mode I've seen

Opening sequence was quite good. Unfortunately, it was the highlight of a hugely disappointing film. No heroic moments. No surprises. No sense of danger. Every scene was utterly predictable

Thor 2 was a lot better.

Want to take my 6 yr old son to see this. Will it be suitable? He loves the 1st one and he's been to cinema to watch transformers and ninja turtles (Covered his eyes during mutagen on random foot solder scene). Are there any moments that might scare him?

Nah nothing scary really.

Just one cut arm and a little Blood... Nothing bad :-)

Went in yesterday.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised. I expected a film worse than Avengers 1, which I enjoyed tremendously.
But while the movie has its problems, I would say it reaches the same heights as Avengers 1.

The team is portrayed great, I loved the banter and the humor and the flow of it. Any while it was darker than the first, I wouldn't say it was depressing. The visuals were much better than the first one and I appreciated that they went and set up a few details for Phase 3. They didn't disrupt the flow of the movie too much and if you didn't know, you wouldn't have really noticed. I also enjoyed the cameos from everyone and didn't find them out of place or annoying.

As I mentioned the team attacks are fantastic and they felt like they grew a lot since the first one. And since this one can get right into the story, it can skip the whole getting the team together part, that took a little bit too long in the first one.

Sometimes it felt, as if the movie was set up to be a 3 hour movie though. Ultron isn't the weakest bad guy in the Marvel universe, but he could have been much stronger and felt like he is missing a few scenes that clear up his motivations and creation a little bit.
Same for Vision. He has some great scenes and fantastic screen presence, but he felt weirdly absent at times.

Watched the movie yesterday. I don't know how to feel about it.

Pros:

- cool to see Vision, Ultron, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver
- first action scene was cool
- Scarlet Witchs new costume is very hot (hot as hell, anyone got screens)
- Hulk Buster was awesome
- Quicksilver was way better than his DoFP one, because he does shit and fucks everyone up, really cool scenes (German voices sucked so much though)

Cons:

- many stupid action cuts
- nothing was really 3D (well as always)
- 3D blur and the cuts hurt my eyes
- stupid padding in the first half and too many unexplained things
- Ending was also stupid
- Black Widow/Banner relation was too forced
- Cleavage shots everywhere (distracted me even more)

I don't know... it's not a bad movie per se, but I think that Avengers 1 is way better.

My girlfriend has never seen a single Marvel movie and enjoyed it quite a bit.

I've seen them all (except for Assfleck Daredevil) and didn't like it. Feel it was on par with Furious 7. Having all elements of a good movie but have it executed in a bad way. Oh and 3D is still useless crap. Only makes it harder to follow the action.

Yeah 3D was the worst thing... really disappointed that Cinemaxx didn't have a 2D screener in Germany. :( I guess the extended cut will be better to follow and everything...

Oh, I forgot to add some comparisons:

I felt like the 'World at stakes' last third of the movie fit's much better with the tone of the Avengers than Winter Soldier or Guardians.

Cap was as amazing as he was in Winter Soldier.

The humor was darker and had a better flow than in Guardians.

The story wasn't as clear cut and straight ahead as in Avengers 1 or Guardians or Winter Soldier. It worked for me, but I can see how it doesn't for many others.

Little end spoiler ahead:
Samual L. Jacksons appearance in the end felt a little bit like the Birds in the LotR movies :P

I don't know what to say, either you guys are super picky or I watched a different movie but I thought it was great.

I read initial impressions on here yesterday and slightly lowered my expectations before watching and tbh I needn't have because it topped them in every way.

To anyone here who is concerned that the movie isn't on par with the other movie, trust me it is. If you enjoyed those, you'll enjoy this one. However, if you are the type to nitpick and have problems with minor things then you'll likely have a field day with this one.

It isn't a perfect movie. But as summer action packed blockbusters go, everything else will definitely struggle to beat it.

Yeah 3D definitely a reason why I didn't enjoy the action as much, though I have to say that I didn't have these problems as much with Guardians. Maybe because most of the movie was brighter and more colorful, maybe because the action wasn't as fast paced/cut. I also felt that they took more advantage of the 3D in the latter.

Maybe I'll like it more once I see it as BluRay. But I think as a whole, even ignoring the terrible 3D, it's not as good as Avengers 1, Guardians, Winter Soldier and the original Iron Man. Somewhere between the Thor movies and above Iron Man 2/3 and the first Cap movie.

I'm not sure if people have super high expectations. I'm going in on Sunday hoping for a good popcorn movie. Being an ensemble piece I'm not expecting huge amounts of character development - that's what the individual movies are for. I just want some coherent action, and lots of chemistry with the characters bouncing off each other - figuratively *and* literally.

Then you're in for a treat. You can't go wrong with seeing 6-8 avengers constantly kicking ass.

You'll enjoy it. Some of the comparisons I read on here to IM2 or even Spider-Man 3 don't make any sense to me. If you liked the Avengers, you'll like this, probably a bit more too.

Thor 2 was a lot better.

No heroic moments? Not sure if we watched the same film.

List wars ho

Great -
Winter Solider = Age of Ultron
Iron Man

Good -
Iron Man 3
Guardians
Avengers

Meh -
Iron Man 2
Thor 2
Thor
Captain America

I saw it last night. I'm pretty ill right now. The film I saw was chaotic and weird enough that I think it just might have been a fever dream.

I really dislike the criticism "forced". What does it mean? Does it really mean anything beyond "I didn't like it but can't articulate why"?

Forced is used interchangeably with unearned. It's a word people use when they find something unconvincing.

Awh yis, ordered my Hulk vs HulkBuster t-shirt, should arrive tomorrow just in time before heading for the movie.

LET'S DO THIS!

Is the CGI really that bad? I have found CGI in recent Marvel films to be really good. Especially the the Winter Soldier which had some of the best in recent years.

I thought it was very uneven. Hulk looked bad in some shots and many robots and henchmen soldiers appear so "weightless". I can't really put my finger on it. It's all over the place.

There were cleavage shots?

Scarlet Witch, Black Widow, and the random mother with the kid had obvious cleavage shots. Kinda surprising haha.
