First Official Picture Of Jared Leto's DAMAGED Joker!

Heath's death and legendary performance made many forget just how critical people were of not only his casting, but the way he looked as Joker. The scars and brooding tone of that first image sparked a lot of doubt and hate. I remember all of it. I think this Joker's gonna be pretty versatile. The shirtless official pic reminds me of this.

He ends up killing that woman in that same room like it was nothing.
Wow, yeah. Could be good. Definitely a major departure from Ledger's Joker, which is what I was hoping for. You can't really imitate a performance like that. At least not for the Joker's very next film appearance.

Just like Ledger, performance will be 90% of the character. Most of those tattoos will be covered up when wearing clothes. The J on his face is tiny. The only thing that stands out is the terrible "damaged" tattoo which needs to go.

That Robin is hilarious.

Don't know if this has been posted already, but it essentially sums up my problems with this Joker's design.

See I knew that they were going with a "punk like" Joker for this movie. A Joker like Heath or Jack just wouldn't work on screen as part of the Suicide Squad.. They needed a younger looking, more assassin looking.. But it still needed to be a crazy Joker.. Soooo.. The only thought process I came out with was more Punk then classic

I'm really fine with it, it's the "damaged" on the forehead that throws the look into ridiculous territory.

Jared Leto is an amazing actor though, I'm sure he'll do well regardless.

This character design for The Joker wouldn't fit in well with Nolan's Batman, but this isn't Nolan's Batman. It could very well be perfect for the film, but since I haven't seen the film, I can't judge how well it fits. It's all up to what the production designer has in store for us.

This Joker may be very self aware. He knows who he is and how people view him. He revels in it and plays it up with the tattoos.

Not what I expected. I'm still on board with Leto though.

Edit: I agree with some of the people saying that the 'damage' in the forehead is trying too hard, but isn't that the whole point of the Joker? He definitely tries to play up his insane persona schlock as much as possible. He's so delusional that I could see him doing something like that just to irk people. That Joker in the Batman cartoons definitely did stuff like that from time to time.

It just looks dumb in really neat cursive like that. I think if it was in a messier style it wouldn't be so distracting.

There's going to be a crow eating round up thread for the ages one day in the distant future

Probably by Lionel Mandrake

I'm glad I won't be in it

There will be an emotional scene where Batman grabs Joker by the collar and starts yelling in the Joker's face and the Joker starts laughing maniacally until he starts crying.

"It's a joke. It's all a fucking joke. You know, I thought I knew how it was. I thought I knew how the world was. I've done some bad things. I did bad things to women. I shot kids. In Gotham, you know? But I was fucking "damaged"! This....I never done anything like this...God, here I am.....spilling my guts....to one of my archenemies....but the truth is...you're the closest thing to a friend I got. What the fuck does that say?"

Much crow will be eaten when Jared Leto wins an academy award for his performance in that scene and everyone here will feel like fools for ever mocking that damaged tattoo.

the entire theater will end up crying because batman is equally as fucked up as joker in his own way

they belong together <3

We'll have to wait for the acting and laugh to make a solid judgement, but looks-wise, there are two things I don't care for(and the tattoos aren't an issue):

1. He's not white enough. He looks a pale shade of Caucasian(almost like the pic was run through a photoshop filter), not the bleached skinned Joker we've seen in almost EVERYTHING. Even Ledger's Joker's face was "Joker white".

2. Would've preferred eyebrows, as most takes on the Joker do. It adds to the whole facial expression thing. The only two iconic Jokers that didn't have eyebrows were TAS and TDK.

Minor nitpick, would've liked slightly longer hair. Not TDK Joker length, but something longer than this.

That's definitely the best defense for this picture. It looks like a generic Joker fan reacting upon meeting the real Joker (not pictured). But if he is aware of that, potentially even making fun of his own tattoos, and people taking them seriously, that might work.

This is brilliant by WB. The marketing worked. You hate the way joker looks. All according to plan. You are supposed to not admire him but hate him or fear him. Reaction proves it worked

But like...they shouldn't look like he made an appointment 6 months in advance at the best shop in town and casually sat around while some dude tattoo'd him...

He should have gotten some real body mods that look like he did it himself. Whether it was through cutting/stick and poke / etc..

I dunno. Just can't imagine The Joker sitting in a decent tattoo place while some random dude tattoos him.

With the exception of the "Damaged" and "J" tattoos, I actually like the rest of them. I think this could go on to be an amazing Joker if played right. The contrast with Batfleck is really solid from what little we've seen of each so far.

Also, that gif of him holding the gun and smiling is creepy as heck. Where did it come from?

For me it's missing the painted on grin from cheek to cheek and maybe darker make-up around the eyes. He has enough to differentiate himself so that even if uses those common elements he still stands out. If he is going shirtless I hope he still wears an open purple blazer over his bare chest.

Anyway Jared Leto is an amazing performer. Wherever his going with this I'm willing to follow.
