Which was the better movie? I really enjoyed them when they came out in theaters, but re-watching them recently, neither of them have held up very well. I don't hate them but I'd much rather watch Batman '89 or hell even Superman Returns before coming back to these two.

I thought Man of Steel was pretty decent for the first half, until Zod came to Earth. Then the film kinda fell apart one by one.

Dark Knight Rises was alright too, but wasn't very consistent throughout the entire film. Then everything that happened after Bruce got better and somehow made it back to Gotham was just...ugh.

So which movie do you think was better? Saw this being brought up alot in recent Batman and Superman threads so figured why not make a thread about it.

Edit:
Thor 2 was bad but Thor 1 was the worst of em all

The Dark Knight Rises, easily.

Man of Steel isn't a bad film. It's just good moments separated by mediocre moments.

The Dark Knight Rises is a disgrace to The Dark Knight trilogy. Nolan got his dream film funded and clearly didn't give enough of a shit about making a good finale to the series.

The Dark Knight Rises is a disappointment compared to what came before, but it's far from an outright bad film... Which is what Man of Steel is.

Your thread title asks which one sucked more, but your OP is asking which one was better.

The replies will be confusing. :P

I enjoyed TDKR more. Bane made it.

I enjoyed my time with Batman. I did not enjoy my time with Superman.

I wouldn't want to watch either again, really.

I wouldn't want to watch The Dark Knight again either though.

I enjoyed TDKR more in the theater, but I don't know if it's actually a better film. The terribly stupidly written flashbacks in Man of Steel were the main thing that irritated me, but TDKR has nonsensical moments too.

The ultimate kevincostner.gif vs marioncotillard.gif battle neogaf has waited for!

I enjoyed them both despite their obvious flaws. I liked TDKR more.

Man of Steel was definitely worse. I actually enjoyed TDKR, even though it got worse after subsequent viewings and was the worst of the series.

Man of Steel is easily the worst. What a dull and mediocre movie. Some really pretty shots, but it lacked any substance.

DKR was worse than the other two but still a decent movie. Bane was an awesome villain until the last third where they ruined everything.

TDKR was overall boring with atleast spark in some scenes, meanwhile MoS was just bad.

Boring w/ some good scenes > just bad.

TDKR > MoS

Batman kills a person, and this is how they die.

There's no other explanation than Nolan saying "Fuck it, let's wrap this shit up".

There's some dumb shit in both, but I'm going to say Man of Steel by a nose. Only because Zack Snyder is the worst.

But DKR and Man of Steel back to back means I'm not going to trust a damn thing about DC movies for a long time. They're going to need a miracle with Batman vs. Superman, but in my view it already looks messy as hell.

I didn't know TDKR was so divisive! I think it's ultimately the least good of the trilogy, but still a great movie. I hate Man Of Steel.

After all of Nolan's talk about wanting people to take his Batman films seriously, to look at them as more than just comic book movies . . . and he falls back on an atom bomb.

I can't watch TDKR anymore...especially because you know what Bane really is. That reveal neutered him significantly to the point he hardly feels like a villain. That's not even touching the other inconsistencies in the movie.

I can still watch MOS.

Yes but what did you think of the film?

There are very few moments in The Dark Knight Rises that I value at all. The first Batman v Bane fight. The opening, kind of. I didn't like the chase. The plot is weak as shit. The pacing is god awful.

It's a weak movie.

What looks messy about Batman vs Superman? The trailer seemed fantastic. If you mean the number of super heroes in the movie then yeah it could potentially be a mess. We shall see.. but the teaser seemed really good. Did you not like the teaser and the set up so far?

This. Batman looks so bad in his movies. I am glad Nolan is no longer in charge of Batman.

I'd say TDKR, just because it's such a dive compared to the previous two.
It also didn't feel as serious in tone comparatively.
The cheesey banter between bat and cat is awful.

Man of Steel is a flawed movie that tops out around "okay-ish," mostly due to Goyer & Snyder's decision to use Batman Begins as a template for a Superman movie.

The Dark Knight Rises is a flawed movie that ends up being good, but not as good as it could have been due to having so much shit shoved into it. It has the overindulgent pacing of a classic Bond film.

TDKR was fucking great and GAF is the only place I see the hate for it.

Man of Steel has plenty of good moments, but isn't a fantastic package overall.
