Ottman made the best superman score. I would even say the best superhero film score period.
The man of steel and BvS stuff they've shown is absolutely horrid.

No lie, hearing the X theme at the start of DOFP was amazing. Crazy how it seems no other superhero movie out today has as recognizable an opening theme as the X-Men movies by Singer

man when I heard Stewart's monologue and then this swelling up to the theme I had a huge grin on my face it was like a "welcome back" moment for me

I'm gonna browse the DOFP thread and see what my reaction was

I imagine star wars will be the same for me too

So are they establishing that Jubilee is Immortal? Cause she's in X1 and 2 as a student.

X-Men 1 and 2 don't exist anymore though. So it doesn't matter lol.
The new timeline is First Class, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse. So Characters introduced in the movies before Days of Future Past can now exist earlier or later because everything has been changed.

But just because you wipe out a timeline doesn't change when people are Born.

Oh but it does now. You can't really argue logic in the X-Men movie timeline when Emma Frost was like 30 years old in First Class and 17 in Wolverine Origins which happened like 30 years later. Angel is in this too so you just have to go with the flow.

Here's how I've been looking at it. The characters we see at the end of DOFP at the mansion when Logan wakes up in 2023 all still exist or will exist after Apocalypse and be born at their correct date. Characters we don't see there, are up for grabs. So Angel, Jubilee, Kurt, etc can now all have different birth years and be younger or older. The time line shifted ever so slightly so things will/can change.

The Wolverine in this hasn't got any memory of the old timeline right?

Yep, he will get his memories back much later in the timeline. So he still doesn't remember anything.

Logan remembers the old timeline when he wakes up. He doesn't know anything from the new one between the time he's finished out of the water at the end of DOFP and when he wakes up at the mansion. Which is why Xavier gives him the "Oh no" look and comment when Logan goes to talk to him at the end of DOFP. Charles looked into his mind and saw the old timeline.

There are going to be inconsistencies between the two timelines. Some things might have explanations. Others won't, like age differences between versions of characters in each timeline. I get the impression that the X1-X3 timeline is best forgotten going into Apocalypse, practically speaking. I don't think Singer's going to focus much on trying to resolve differences so much as he is using Apocalypse to continue what DoFP started - essentially rebooting the franchise with younger versions of characters in the original trilogy.

I don't see why the time line being messed with can't result in people being concieved earlier. It just means their parents met earlier. It's time line altering when certain events occurred, same as any other. Several of those events just happen to be births in this instance.

It's really not that crazy.

Now that everything pre-FC doesn't exist anymore, they're free to have people be alive and whatever age they want whenever they want. It was the ultimate way out

Plus, when they eventually decide that they don't want to feel like they have the DoFP ending be inevitable, BOOM, new timeline

The DOFP ending is
just a regular day
though. That could happen in any film and they go on about their business. It's just be a different cast.

Well I'm saying in two more movies if
They decide to kill Jean Grey off again, or Cyclops, or anyone, obviously the ending of DoFP can't come true. So there, new timeline.

They literally have an out for everything

Blame Marvel for changing up composers every film and Hans Zimmer for phoning in most of his soundtracks.

Even without Days of Future Past I can't believe anyone gives a shit that they're redoing Jubilee. Cameo tier apperances have never exactly been something the series has been too concerned about when they decide to do them for real.

I mean, it ain't like even with the reset it makes any sense. But who cares, sometimes doing something good is worth ignoring that 2 seconds of continuity conflicts.

Zimmer and JNH's work on the Dark Knight trilogy runs circles around anything X-Men. Zimmer on Man of Steel and Silvestri's Avengers/Cap themes were good too.

Talking exclusively to Empire in between pre-production meetings in Montreal, Singer revealed that Apocalypse's secret weapon might just be its scope and that titular villain, played by Oscar Isaac. “It’s a big monster of a movie,”
says the director. “The stakes are so high and global and the villain
is so mythic. It’s definitely an X-Men movie, but it really feels different.”

The villain is Apocalypse, a seemingly immortal mutant that viewers caught a glimpse of in Ancient Egypt at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past. But there's more than Oscar Isaac's bad guy to lure in the X-faithful; concept art shared with Empire teases the construction of the Blackbird, the X-Men's iconic aircraft, as well as a new look for Angel that resembles the character's comic book "Archangel" redesign. Plus, of course, there is the first appearance of some new mutants that audiences are already familiar with.

"They're as much a part of the movie as our main cast," Singer said about the younger Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm (Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner and Alexandra Shipp), who'll make their debuts in Apocalypse. Each of the three won't be quite the heroes movie audiences will recognize from their appearances in the original X-Men movies.

"Scott is not yet the squeaky-clean leader," Singer explained. "Storm is a troubled character who is going down the wrong path in life. And Jean is complex, interesting and not fully mature. It’s fun to see someone struggling with their powers when you know one day they’ll become the most powerful person in the world."

Love the underground pyramid.
Definitely going to be where they find Apocalypse's sarcophagus and awaken him.

feels different from what, exactly?
The smaller-scale, city threatening, but not world-threatening stuff from the previous X-Films.

Even if DoFP showed a completely fucked future, the bulk of the threat was relegated to smaller scale things happening in Paris and DC in the past.

Gambit:

Since we dont have a Mr Sinsiter to limit Gambits powers, we can have Apocalypse settle Gambit instead in exchange for him becoming one of the Horsemen.

Maybe Mystique since she has to leave the franchise she could get killed or sacrifice herself in her horseman form.

Why is Jennifer Lawrence leaving?

But just because you wipe out a timeline doesn't change when people are Born.

Oh, time travels in X-Men movies can do much more than simply change when you're born. Apparently time travel can change you from a white guy with dwarfism (Peter Dinklage ) into a tall bald black dude (Bill Duke). ;)
