This is probably the last great fight ever in this sport.

For the next few years, yes, but how many people said that in the 60s, 80s with Sugar ray Leonard, etc...?

Eventually there will be great boxers again, and they will be making millions as always.

Most deff Rigondeaux doesn't get his credit in the sport at all. Love how he school Nonito Donaire.

Oh, he gets credit in the sport, but unfortunately thats about all. Not much money, or exposure outside of the hardcore.

But he's on ever top ten p4p, and many peoples number 1. Rigo is historically good. Could be like the best featherweight ever. The featherweight division is so freaking hot right now, so many good fighters.

I don't see Rigo making more money in the Uk than in the US. First off, Rigo can't speak English. That always hurts your base. He's not flashy or in your face. And he's too technical, and not aggressive enough.

This is a problem with Cuban fighters. They are usually too good, too technical, too sound, and don't take chances, and fighters who don't take chances, don't score KOs are not popular. The best lightmiddleweight in the world, schooled, a Cuban schooled mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez but still is never mentioned for the big time fights. Isn't even considered one of the best of division, even though he is.

There's a purist aspect to it. But I do get the sentiment. Rigo could be more aggressive he had to be, its just that he never had to, until his last fight.

Floyd signed the contract, accepting Pac gets to wear Reyes gloves come fight night.

Seems out of character for Floyd.

Seems out of character for Floyd? LMAO, are you kidding? Floyd did the exact same thing to Maidana right before the fight. Floyd was planning this all along.

Actually the contract said, pac gets to use factory sealed Reyes gloves, but they should not be horse hair based. Other gloves use foam or a combo of both. The horsehair gloves are considered punchers gloves, the foam is necessary for fighters like Floyd who has brittle hands.

Anyway, Reyes doesn't make foam based gloves, so it was a fine print thing, that Floyd thought he could use to force Pac into fighting with pillows, like he did to Maidana.

Only reason it didn't happen is because Pac has leverage, so Floyd wasn't able to force the Nevada boxing commission to force this. But Floyd sure has hell always planned on making Pac wear foam gloves, it just backfired on him.

This is very very good news, for us Pac fans.

I still won't believe it until the bell rings. Wouldn't be surprised if he waits until 30 minutes before the fight. He made Maidana wear pillow gloves for their fights, and when asked why he made him do it again for the rematch, he basically says "Well he said he beat me once with the gloves, so do it again".

What a warrior.

He's a very good, and exciting fighter. Although, bad stamina. He's a megastar in Mexico though. Punches hard. He the money man at middleweight, but he's also a bit of..... I don't know the correct word, but its close to cheating.

Basically, he fights at light middleweight, but cannot make that weight anymore. Yet, he doesn't want to fight real middleweights, so he just fights light middleweights at a catchweight, a weight between the two divisions. Allowing him to be strong yet fight, in a division he has outgrown.

A couple other fighters with clout are doing the samething.

Still, he actually has an exciting and dangerous fight next week!

ughhh No one's showing it in my area and my friends aren't into boxing. $100 is really out of my budget right now. Guess I'll watch it on HBO in a week or so. :/

They're getting the fight for free in Mexico...this fight should be on NBC or something, imagine the ad revenue.

Yea, my dad is curious about the fight from our talks, but $100, lol. In the UK its 15 bucks, raised to 20 tonight.

I'm sure there will be plenty of illegal streams flying about, and will get traded in PMs over many message boards, but other than the fact that is stealing, it also probably will not be fun, watching a crappy stream. I'm going to enjoy it on my giant screen in HD. The way it was always meant to be, when boxing was invented by a chinese man.

I thought what Floyd did with Maidana was one-time thing. I guess I was wrong.

Seems Floyd is feeling the pressure tonight. It's expected for him to win. If he loses, I don't think his psyche can take it.

There is no way the Nevada boxing commission is going to do a 180 on their decision.

Yeah I won't be able to watch this, it's literally impossible for Dutch people to watch it legally at home, that fucking sucks. Are there any sites where I can watch this? Even if I have to pay for it, no problem, I haven't stumbled upon any legal (European friendly) streaming pay per view sites yet.

Nah. Floyd is a master at the little contract tricks that give him an edge. All the top fighters do it to some extent though. Like getting refs for their fights that support their style of fighting (Mayweather likes to hold to smother big punchers, so he gets refs that allow longer holding while Pacquiao tends to get held often by opponents to smother his output, so he usually gets refs that will break up holds faster). Another thing Floyd does to give a little edge is getting a ring that's much larger than is usually used for his weight class. It gives him lots of room to use his footwork and make his opponent chase him to engage. Wears em down faster than would happen in a smaller ring.

Little things like that aren't well known to the viewers either, so fighters usually aren't called out on it. It's become a part of the sport as much as holding and hitting and other grey area tactics.

Would've loved to see him in his prime vs. Mayweather. Floyd still wins, but I think it would've been entertaining.

Couldn't find any bars but there's a Buffalo Wild Wings about 30 minutes from me showing it.

How early should I head out for this shit?

Can i ask where people are watching it?

If you (not you specifically, the general YOU) plan on watching illegal streams, I'm going to predict a night of frustration. Those streams are going to be hammered by everyone, so you'll be stuck with errors and slideshows.

Some places in Europe is just terrible to watch boxing. It's really only the UK that gets it all.

I think if you wanted to be all legal, you'd have to try and get a HBO or Sky stream, which would require a subscription and PVN.

I'm not advocating for illegal streams AT ALL, but I get why some people are forced to use it. I used to travel for work, and I have felt your pain, although I never went down that road myself. Wouldn't even find it enjoyeable.

With renewed relations between the US and Cuba, my hope is that guys will start coming over younger so they can shed a lot of those habits they develop in amateurs. The talent is definitely there and they produce some highly skilled boxers that just stay on the amateur circuit too long.

Yep it really is... I've been having a hard time watching any other random live boxing match on TV as Eurosport is the only one which sometimes airs something...
The funny thing is, we have a subscription to HBO but they won't be airing anything in this country which is puzzling to me.
I'll keep searching for something, I've been boxing almost all my life and this is something you just don't wanna miss. Me and my boxing school would love to see it live and it'd be a great gift for my father who watched Thrilla in Manilla and Rumble in the Jungle with his father and this may as well be the last boxing game of this magnitude in decades so I don't know if he'll ever experience another one. Gotta keep on searching I guess and if I don't find anything I'll have to resort to that VPN stuff you said which I'll have to figure out how it works lol

That's why it's funny when people say boxing is dead or is dying. The sport has been around for over a century, it isn't going anywhere. It'll go through transitions like any other sport, but there's so much worldwide talent and love for the sport it isn't going to just go away.

The sport of kings. The biggest sports icon of the last decade is surely Manny Pacquiao?

Boxing has always remained culturally relevant, even if diminished. The truth is, its only in a downturn in America. Its the national sport of Mexico. Uk loves it. Eastern Europe seems to be all in, Germany, the Klits are gods there.

In the states is, HW boxing is where the mainstream resides. Deontay Wilder, if he can keep winning, or beats a Klit, he will single handedly reignite big time boxing in America.

UK doesn't love boxing all that much anymore. Back when it was available to watch for free and we had some great fighters, sure, but now the majority of people who used to watch it won't do PPV.

i remember the heavyweight title used to be the biggest sports event in all of sports...now it seems like the lower weights. fights like these are more popular..

i like the Klitschkos, but they really put fans away from HW boxing
