But yeah... Anyone who found the fight boring is a casual who knows nothing of the sport right? Keep telling yourselves that. Not sure what you are trying to prove, but keep on keeping on.

People were just looking to be entertained is all. And we really didn't get that. I sort of wish I were a Pac fan, at least I could be salty. I could even wish to be a May fan, then I could gloat. But without either of those, just looking at the fight for the sport of it? Snooze fest.

Casuals are the reason why this fight made so much money.

LoL at ESPN,Boxing casuals, and the Floyd ''bringing up the past'' groups salty as f!*k right now on twitter/facebook. Acting brand new to the Floyd Mayweather fighting style like he was gonna stand their and have a slug fest with Manny. For those who thought that obviously doesn't watch the masterful foot work and defense style Floyd has used over the years. Truth is Floyd won period, end of story. Threw MORE punches,LANDED MORE punches and did it masterfully. People who are angry had a overblown imagination of what this fight would be and who was gonna win it.

Also the salt of these old white dudes on ESPN trying to move the goal post and discredit Floyds 48-0 record lol

For people calling people casuals for thinking this was a boring fight, I promise you that you are not clamoring for the next Klitschko fight, and aren't putting him in the top 10 heavyweights of all-time, even though he probably belongs there.

He will go down as one of the best defensive fighters, but he lost a lot of cred tonight in my eyes. On the biggest stage he fought like someone who just wanted to win on points, not solidify his status, so he'll go down as another Pernell Whitaker or Willie Pep, not as an all-time great.

If you think he's an all-time great, you better be calling Klitschko an all-time great, unless you're a sucker for brash theatrics and his mouth elevates him in history for you, in which case YOU are the "casual".

How is undefeated not good enough?

Undefeated doesn't mean much if the competition is not up to par. The best of all time fighting the best of all time and getting a few L's is going to be a lot better boxer than 48-0 fighting shit opponents.

Not saying that's the case but the record isn't everything.

I have a feeling this fight brought in a lot of people who don't really pay attention to boxing and expected a brawl. It was your typical Mayweather outing. Defensive, landed more punches and overall just executed. I enjoyed the fight for that alone because he executed to damn near perfection.

This. People watching boxing expecting blood like it's a UFC fight. Mayweather's boxing is truly amazing and his countering is insane. However, that makes for a boring fight because they didn't get into a Hajime no Ippo style brawl obviously.

Man I couldn't say it better. The hate is strong with ESPN.

Good.

Use that salt to flavor dat crow.

This will be my last post in this thread.

I just hope Pac and Floyd are smart with their money and are surrounded by good people. I don't want to hear years from now they pulled a Tyson.

And yeah, ESPN is salty about the fight.

Not the result I wanted, but the exact result I predicted. Fight going all the way with Mayweather winning on points.

As much as he is a tactical genius and surgeon, I still don't think he'll get the kind of unanimous adoration or love from the masses, that other greats have conjured. Not just because of his more arrogant and self centred nature, but because his fighting style is so counter intuitive to what many expect from the sport. That sense of drama and outright aggression, in place of tactics that are almost cowardly in nature, and mostly focused on gaming the points system. Quick jabs, constant retreating and avoiding, mass ducking and diving, constant holding and grabbing, rinse repeat, over and over. It's flawless and almost impenetrable when executed by Mayweather, it's also him completely understanding the sport and playing it to absolute efficiency, but it's just not especially exciting either. Not taking away from his immense talent mind, he's unbeaten for a reason.

Pacquiao spent $3-4M just on tickets for his entourage. You tell me.

Solid post. Very well put.

Are you saying Mayweather fought 48 shit opponents? This implies you are a fan of boxing and have seen all 48 fights. If so I know you saw the Corrales fight right? if not here is a reminder. 5 knockdowns.

Klitschko is an all-time great, although he is boring too. Mayweather has nothing on Klitschko. Klitschko is actually on the offense most of the time jabbing the shit out of his opponent; boring but effective. Mayweather is the passive part almost throughout the whole fight.

It was a boring fight. But all of his fights are and its smart that he fights that way...since y'kno it works and all.

Basically you all have no one to blame but yourselves for not researching and falling for the hype and your rage boners.

You got exactly what a lot of people could have told you it would be like.

It was a boring boxing match
Fixed.

I'm on Mayweather's camp, and I know he has higher chance of winning because of his defensive capabilities. But come on, you need to understand that this event was huge, the biggest event in boxing this decade. even the one's (millions) who are not interested in boxing watched. AND IT WAS BORING lol

So yeah, I don't blame them complaining how lackluster the fight was for them.

I'm going to reserve judgement until I hear what Ja Rule has to say.

I looked up his twitter and there appears to be some sort of beastiality image in his latest retweeted images.

Why Ja.....why......

#MayPac I'm predicting a DRAW u heard it here first!!! #Getyabetin #Thankmelater

I'd place blame on marketing. "Fight of the century" and then the fight ends with no knockdowns or anything. Yeah, people tuning in for the first time are going to be disappointed. If that was the "fight of the century" then what was the old Ali stuff? Fight of the millennium?

Nah. There doesn't need to be knockdowns, knockouts or any of that for the fight to merely be entertaining. Nothing wrong with the marketing. Its their JOB to pretend its going to be the second coming. The fight just underwhelmed even considering that, unfortunate, but oh well.

Oh shit, just looked at the poll on this thread, are you kidding me? Something about combat sports brings out the tribalism. Folks were really that deluded because they hate Mayweather that much. It's this deluded thinking that helps explain Mayweather's tactics. Some of those rounds given to pacman, he landed one or two good punches and had pitty pat fluries that landed NOTHING of significance. May couldn't let Pacman touch him at all to win a decision. Once the right hand counter was landing, compubox numbers say 48% landed power punches, the fight was over.

I mean, in the end it's the equivalent of the super bowl ending 3-0. A ton of people that don't normally watch the sport but tuned in for its biggest event are going to be upset that they wasted the effort to pay attention, and the regular fans are going to try to tell them that this isn't the outcome of every game/match but it's not gong to matter. Damage (boredom) was done.

no one cares

I'm a casual boxing fan and I thought Mayweather totally dominated the fight. I didn't realize what a great fighter he was but all that bluster is mostly for show and at the end of the day the man is a brilliant fighter. Manny is a "nice guy" so I understand why people wanted him to win, but when it came to the actual fight it wasn't even close.

Fight went pretty much as expected. I was rooting for Pacquiao, but my brain told me it would most likely be Mayweather. Ah well..it was an entertaining night...and god I'm tired.
