did you see the video? she was up in he cops face.. cursed at him.. etc.
I'll just quote you, since you're last :D

Yeah, so why did he not physically restrain her? I don't see that she was a danger to him, or herself. He had just pushed her back 3 feet with no effort. Perhaps a law enforcement officer could correct me if I'm wrong, but at that point she is not a danger, she is not a flight risk, you have her details, you have issued a ticket, either arrest her or let her go, right?

Edit: Again, she was being an utter bitch. But can you say that tasing her was his best option?

She asked to get arrested. She asked to get tased. She purposely refused to comply with a lawful order. She attempted to move past the officer by going onto the busy road. Perhaps getting tased will disabuse her of the notion that popping something out of her vag long ago enough for that rugrat to also pop something out of their vag gives her the right to ignore the law.

My guess the OP would be just as put out if the cop had wrestled her to the ground to arrest her.

I can't view the video, but being in a cops face and yelling and cursing would be considered assault, and would alone warrant arrest in most jurisdictions.

How anyone can side with the grandmother after seeing her lie her face off on TV and then see what really went down via the dashcam, I have no idea.

I thought tasing(not sure how to spell it) was like the last resort, "this guy wont stay down on the ground" thing to use.

A cop doing that to an old lady is a pussy. 100%

No shit. Most cops are just trying to do their jobs.

I saw this video this morning. If the cop had wrestled her to the ground, physically restraining her and she gets up bloody, people would complain about that. She obviously has some issues and wasn't going to cooperate in any way.

This, looking at the video you can tell no matter what the officer did she wasn't going to cooperate.

Gotta love the police brutality defense force :lol

And of course not all cops are scum. It just seems that these cases of cops' outsized use of force pop up pretty much daily.

The lady was being difficult and all, but it was a bad call on the cops part. Warning that you're about to do something doesn't make it ok to do it when the other person doesn't comply. That's like pulling a gun out on some skateboarders. This old lady was low risk and a mild measure of physical force would have got her cuffed and in the cruiser. Tasing her could have killed her.

Except its a majority of the people who are against brutality are not calling this bruality. Yes, it could have ended better, but to call it brutality is excessive.

Thread title would suggest otherwise.

That grandma was being pretty pushy, but the pigfucker caused all that mayhem for a signature.

THESE cops are the true scum.
Family Outraged After Officer Shoots Their Dog

CINCINNATI -- A Blue Ash family is outraged after returning home to find their dog had been shot and killed by a police officer.

The dog was a Chihuahua-mix named “Jack” that Scott and Sharon Bullock had given to their 12-year-old son for his birthday a few years ago.

When the Bullocks returned home from a family member's funeral on Friday, they found blood and three bullets on their front porch – along with a note to call the Blue Ash Police Department about their dog.

The Bullocks were shocked to learn that Jack had gotten out of the backyard and two officers who tried to catch him, ended up shooting and killing him right on the family's front porch.

"He was cornered on the porch and scared," said Sharon Bullock. "The officer bent down bare-handed to pick up Jack, and Jack bit him."

"My five-year-old cried himself to sleep the night before last, wanting his dog," said Sharon Bullock.

"He ‘barks’ for him" added Scott Bullock. "He'd ‘bark’ and Jack would always come to him, so he's outside going ‘Bark bark bark,’ hoping he's gonna come back. It's heartbreaking."

The Bullocks told their five-year-old and three-year-old sons that Jack ran away.

The Bullocks admit they were at fault for leaving their dog outside, and are sorry the officer was bitten, but they say their dog was not a vicious animal and had never bitten anyone before.

They're wondering why the officers didn't call the SPCA to catch the dog.

"They didn't make that phone call other than to come scoop the dog off the porch after they shot him," said Scott Bullock. "Two grown men that can't gather up a five-pound dog – and they're trained police officers – sounds ridiculous to me."

That officer later explained to the family that he was following procedure.

Blue Ash police say one of the officers was bitten on both hands. One hand was bitten 17 times and the other was bitten nine times.

The dog was holding on so tight he left one of his teeth in the officer's hands.

An officer attempted to tase the dog while another officer was holding him, but it did not work, so they had to shoot the animal.

Blue Ash police say the officers handled the situation according to department policy.

I've yet to see a tasering video where the suspect wasn't asking for it. Signing tickets don't mean you plead guilty. Telling a cop you won't get out of the car won't make him say "well I guess I'm fucked then, alright you are free to go." If people act respectful to police, they wouldn't need tasers.

My gf is in law enforcement and they didn't supply her with mace or a taser until she was on the receiving end of them. I don't know if that is standard procedure for everywhere in the country but it sure as hell gave her a better understanding of who "deserves" them.
She has never used the mace or the taser on someone else.

But holy shit at shooting a dog that small 3 times....

So what did they (The Police) do before they had Tasers then?

She most definitely had it coming, but you can't really tase someone statistically very likely to have a pace maker.. Not to mention all the havoc it could play on her nervous system in her already old-aged body. You don't even need the signature in Texas if I remember right.

Maybe he thought the tase would supercharge her and she'd go around and fight crime. I am in favor of being in favor of that!

Yea but what if she decided to choose the wrong cookie cutter moral decisions and her lightning glowed red?

Honestly, is it really that big a of a deal to sign a ticket? I've gotten pulled over for bullshit reasons before and just went with it. I know its best well not to mess with the police.

put out albums.

fuck this old lady. Just because you are old doesn't mean you can get away with resisting arrest and being a crabby bitch. If he hadn't used a taser and just took her down people would probably say he used excessive force and could have injured her. It's really a no win situation for the cop.

The deference to authority some of you have is nuts. I don't care if Grandma's a bitch, unless she's about the shoot/stab/push someone off a bridge there is no reason to use a taser on her.

Hm, good point. I think we need to analyze the situation in front of her master YAAHHHWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I'm pretty sure in Texas if you don't sign it you get arrested. I'm pretty sure I remember that from when I got one a year and a half ago, and this website seems to confirm it.

Makes sense. I haven't been pulled over before so I'm not very well-versed in it.

Yes, lets label ALL cops as scum because a few are. Since they are scum I hope that if you were ever to be in need of their assistance that they wouldn't offend you with their presence.

Both my parents are cops (retired) yet I still think all cops are scum. They mite be nice sometimes but they still suck. I don't need cops. I don't want cops. I don't like them. I can defend myself and my family and my property just fine without them.

Not all cops are scum, just this one... oh, and the people that "randomly" search me on a weekly basis on the PATH system in New Jersey and ask me questions about what I do for a job and where I'm going.

Those guys can fuck right off.

haha!!

i lived in hoboken for 5 years... wasn't searched once until i grew my beard and now i get searched regularly. awesome :lol

Yeah, this lady completely deserved it. Then she lied to the news and was "missing" when they were going to talk to her about the dashcam. Right. :lol

She was abusive, non-compliant, and refused several warnings. It was kinda satisfying to see some actual police justice really.

Thanks OP!

You are an incredibly stupid person I hope for the sake of society you don't plan on breeding

Just because she's a little old woman it doesn't make her vehicle any less lethal. She may have only gone 60 in a 45 mph construction zone, but she clearly feels she's above the law when she's behind the wheel. If she were given a ticket for jay-walking or even petty theft I'd feel differently about the tasing, but it's a more serious situation if she might have endangered other people's lives. There's little excuse to get uncooperative with a cop if you're pulled over.

No kidding. Last I checked, a cops job is to uphold the peace not dish out "justice" in the form of 12,000 volts to citizens. We have courts for that, if she deserved it or not for being a bitch is not the cops call.

The women deserved it. She wouldnt sign the ticket, goaded the cop into arresting her, and when he called her bluff she changed her mind. Too late for her. She asked for it, she should have gone along. Dont follow the rules, and your gonna get in trouble. Her being tased probably protected the cop from breaking her old brittle bones.

THIS. I came in here explicitly to post this. This is the first thing I thought when I saw this as well. The officer's other option here is to physically restrain her but I do see it as that could potentially cause more harm than this did. The other OTHER option is to do nothing but he is "obligated" to arrest her because she wouldn't sign the ticket.

However it is saddening and disappointing to see officers using tasers as a negotiating tool. I don't really see the need for a traffic cop to even carry one on his person. :/

she was resisting arrest at that point, and the arrest was valid since the signature is required in Texas as someone pointed out, the article was mistaken about that. Although it's clear that it was not researched.

Funny how the very moment the police got access to tasers, many people started getting tased for things that used to be talked over.

Useless bullies.

..and?? How the fuck can a person be a cop and not be able restrain a 70 year old woman without using a taser? She said she wouldn't sign, then he said he was going to arrest her. She got out of the truck then said fine give me the ticket and I will sign. Then he shoves her "to keep her safe off the street" He had her by the hand, she tried to break free so he pushed her away then tased her. Completely unnecessary.

I don't see how anyone can take up for granny. At the end, before he tased she is pushing him saying she's just getting back in her truck and is leaving. Who in the world knows what could happen at that point? She could have gotten back in there and accidentally hit the cop with her vehicle, she could've been a long time cop hater and was going to pull out her pistol to "defend" herself, and on and on. If that was anyone other than a "poor old granny", most people wouldn't be defending her.

Just because someone is old doesn't mean they aren't a threat.

And for what it's worth, also just because someone is old doesn't mean they can strike back. I can't count the number of times I've seen elderly men and women in nursing homes do amazing feats of violence and insanity, and just by looking at them you would never expect they were capable of it.

Dude, it happens to me every week... often multiple times a week. I've stopped responding to questions and have become rather surly at the PATH police.

Oh, and I'm less than thrilled that they will be using millimeter wave scanning on people in the stations... can't wait until some dude gets to see under my clothes and see my gibblets.

I'm not saying he acted ideally, but I won't say he was in the wrong either. And you're skipping all of his warnings prior to actually tasing her.

exactly. she wouldn't sign the ticket and was trying to get back in her truck....he told her to stop, then said he would use the taser. after she tried multiple times to go threw the cop he did it.

i dont think she should have been tasered BUT she still wasnt caperating, so that means he could if he wanted to.

You inadvertently hit on the nail here. Cops don't tase because they have to. They tase because they WANT to.

levious said:

You are skipping the part where she agreed she would sign the ticket, but the cop already decided he wanted to tase her.

Why are cops allowed to threaten people with tasing? "Comply or I will tase you" is not something a peace officer should say on a regular basis or at all.

And as always in this sort of thread, people assume that one side was in the right and the other was in the wrong. Can't it be that they both acted like assholes?
