Tried unsuccessfully to get a code from Newegg for my purchase from Friday. Oh well.
When they did the promo with watch dogs, I had bought my card like over a month before the promo started. I got them to send me one lol

Amazon told me I have to return and rebuy and they are waiving the return shipping costs. Seems like it would be cheaper for them to just give me a Batman code, but whatevs.
not worth it then, as the gen goes on games will be using more than that 2gb, and you'll see those cards just not perform up to standard. I have a 2gb 770 also, and think it will last long enough to hold out another year, but putting them in sli would be a waste of money.
Would upgrading from a 670 GTX to a 970 be a notable jump? Running an i5 3550k.I haven't really hit any obvious barriers in terms of performance to date, but if the deal makes sense.... Could probably get $100 or so for the old card.
I had a 670 Windforce OC (+125 GPU / +775 RAM OC), and comparing it to my 970, Tomb Raider at max settings runs at pretty close to 1440p60, which I didn't even get close to with my 670. That's with only a very mild OC on my 970, too. It's pretty nice, but I wouldn't say it's night and day. I think a nicely OC'd 670 is still pretty relevant, but that's just one person's experience.Would upgrading from a 670 GTX to a 970 be a notable jump? This is tempting.
Now to start figuring out why in the hell EVGA has 8 versions of the 970 and which one provides the best value.
I got one with my SSC and eBay'd it for $20. Solid case means it doesn't matter aesthetically, but it was a nice hunk of metal. LOLI'd recommend the SSC edition. It's essentially the same card as the FTW+, but it doesn't have as high an OC from the factory and its lacking the backplate, but might be able to get the backplate free depending on where you order from.

What good does a backplate serve?
(I plan on staying on air cooling, but I will likely overclock the card)
THIS IS ONLY RUMOUR ABOUT INCOMING NOT ACTIVE YET PROMOTION
So please stop sending emails to amazon or whatever else retailer and wait till nvidia annouces it.
It prevents warping to the PCB, and it acts as a sort of a passive cooler to the rear VRAM chips that aren't under the cooling plate on the front of the card. Said to help lower temperatures by 5 degrees.
If it does or not I have no clue, but it was easy to put on and it gives me a small piece of mind since I'm also keeping it on air and overclocked it.

I've seen some tests that show temps actually go a tick or two higher with the plate, but my take is that it makes no real difference temperature-wise. The rigidity thing is also kind of a throwaway, unless you're constantly moving/transporting your case around where bending from motion would be an issue. For folks with clear cases who do like the internal bling, though, I could see it being an attractive option. It prevents warping to the PCB, and it acts as a sort of a passive cooler to the rear VRAM chips that aren't under the cooling plate on the front of the card. In the end though, do what you want, right? And if it's free, even better.![]()
That's a huge fucking jump in performance. From sub-ps4 to more than double PS4.
Are the codes for the steam version of Witcher 3 and Batman or the GMG version??

Well damn. I bought my 970 last week lol. Oh well at least I got the Witcher.
Edit: think it would be worth contacting Newegg? I haven't really interacted with their customer service a lot. I think if it was Amazon I could get then to do it.
Nice. I just bought mine a week ago and they said they couldn't give me the code. Yay consistency!Yup, you should. I bought an MSI GTX 970 last Sunday and e-mailed them today. I 1) told them that the price today is $20 cheaper than what I got it for last week and 2) asked if I could still get the Batman code. Just got an e-mail back saying that I would get refunded the difference and that they would give me a code.
we counting things in PS4's now?
kek
Well I called Dell and of course the guy in India had no idea what he was talking about and tried to offer me a $25 discount (which still make it around the same price as it is on Amazon). Thanks but no thanks, I will find another way to use my Dell gift cards. I wish you just had to register the video card on nvidias website or something along with a receipt, it's silly that certain places are offering the games and not others...
only have a i5-2400 CPU
Does it make sense to buy a 970 with it and buy a real new PC next year with pascal and new cpu gen. etc.?
Not for digital code auctions that they don't technically support.
You can easily get burned. Buyer takes your money, doesn't respond. You try to use buyer protection, and they tell you third-party digital content auctions that aren't classified ads are not covered.
Unless you're buying from a mega seller like Buy, Newegg, or Best Buy, you're at risk. I used it for years with a perfect history until I got scammed on both sides, and ebay/PP didn't give a crap. My rule of thumb is unless it's a huge retailer, don't use ebay/PP unless you're ok losing the item or cost.

Laptops only get TW3.Anyone with nvidia connections able to figure out if this will apply to 970m/980m laptops? The witcher promo is active for laptops, can't find batman anywhere.
I tried Amazon chat, got denied because of the length of time (and the suggestion to return/rebuy which I am not interested in). Those of you who are more persistent than I am, I wish you luck.
