Congrats, PS4. Nice to see that it's outpacing the PS2.
Sure, try selling products to people that think 90euros is too much for a console.

maybe they should get a second job
Well there is a product for people who can't afford the PS4, it's called the PS3.
Or maybe they are getting the same product for €50 less online. Perfect substitutes and all that jazz. Or maybe your store's entry is a wormhole to New Zealand. Yup definitely New Zealand wormhole.
Meh. I'm not surprised it doesn't sell like hot cakes. The DC+TLOU bundle can be had for 399€ at Leclerc, and I'm not sure LBP3 is worth 30/50€ for many people.PS4 + 3 games : LBP3, Driveclub and The Last of US priced at 449€ (20€ credit back if you own the store's card).
Thing is I got word that it was like that in all the supermarkets with this promotion. Sales being bad last weekend, a new promo came in, now it's the PS4/PS TV or PS4/The Order + a Dualshock 4 for 399€.
I'm in a Carrefour in 77, it's countryside out here.

Plus, these were still the school holidays last weekend in your area, if I'm not mistaken. Probably doesn't help selling electronics goods.
Why on earth would I buy a console there?
Honestly, this seems not to be the right place for a representativ report.
Hope you are not too bitter and your job is not depending 100% on console sales.
Why on earth would I buy a console there?
It was poor wording form my part, clearly I'm talking about my own experience.
This is the PS4 pack we have to push and there's basically no box showing it's available in store. It's priced at 449 and if you have the shop's store you get 20 credited back on your account.
The PS4 is on demo but it's not even connected to internet and so got just old demos of NHL15, FIFA15, Trials Fusion, FEZ, Thief.
Store is huge, it's a hypermarket and most people coming in are here to do grocery shopping so it's not like a person's going to drop 500 on a whim, no matter how kids want one bad. Funny thing is I still saw people buying PSP's.

Yeah, that doesn't seem like a great deal unless you really want those games. Looking at Amazon, for 400 Euros, you can get a PS4 with The Order OR one with a Playstation TV in the box.
"Why on earth would I live there?"
So very close.
lol?Games are cheaper online but there are really no good deals to be had when it comes to the console.
Do you have a link to that original adam orth thread? the one where those tweets were shown?
I can't seem to find it through search :/

Deal with it.

While the deals may be retailer-specific, I'd be very surprised if they weren't being funded by MS. If they aren't, that doesn't bode very well for the Bone, because I can't imagine retailers would be eager to re-order stock they had to sell at a loss. All these deals are retailers doing it, not MS.
That's a far cry from your original claim that the French market was already completely saturated.Honestly it's not about the games. People are just damn cheap (that frequent the store) and the timing just isn't right but that's my opinion. I'm sure the situation is much better in Micromania (the equivalent of Gamestop).
We know that December sales in the UK would likely push that 8.7m towards 9m sold through. As you can see, every market saw higher annual sales in 2014 than in 2013 due to the fact that 12 months were tracked rather than just 2 months. Even markets like France saw sales increase from 126k to 290k. Tier 1 in 2013 saw 610k sales so it's likely that these numbers would have increased as well. But for now lets just calculate the baseline by adding an additional 610k which assumes that all other tier 1 countries did not see any additional sales. This takes our guess total to around 9.6m units sold through. Adding in tier 2, even if we add 20k for each region we still end up with an additional 500k+ sales. Therefore we can say that the baseline for XB1 at the end of 2014 was 8.7m cumulative and the other regions would likely take the total install base to over 10.1m worldwide at a minimum, again by end of 2014. This is a lowball estimate. It would likely have been over 10.1m.
For Q1 2015 we know that the USA sold through 0.66m, Germany sold through 0.05m and it's estimated that the UK could have sold through more than 0.1m. Therefore I would say that sell through for Q1 will be around and most likely over 1m worldwide.
Again, everything in this quote box is a guess, none of it concrete. Do not treat it as such.
Found it! It was in the archives. That was the aftermath thread, there was the main one before that.
That elusive original thread lol
I can't D:

lol?
Not really (PS4+TO1886+PES2015+second controller=419).
And your bundle can be had for 399 from amazon.de.

And ZHuge I agree with your Q1 sell through. Very good post.
Xbox One Worldwide as of end of 2014.
As of the end of 2014 we can estimate that a minimum of 8.7 million Xbox One's have been sold through to end users.
The PlayStation sold 20,000 units during its launch weekend in the UK.
The PlayStation 2 sold 60,000 units during its launch weekend in the UK.
The PlayStation 3 sold 165,000 units during its launch weekend in the UK.
The PlayStation 4 sold 250,000 units during its launch weekend in the UK.
The PS2 is the best selling home console in the UK with 10.01m. The PlayStation 1,2,3 & 4 have sold over 25 million units in the UK combined.
I'm just teasin' ya. <3No, no I didn't mean to say that but didn't express myself well, I know.
Could also be general depression from having to fight a bit of an uphill battle. I know you said you're "in charge" of promotion, but I assume you report to someone. You should ask them why they expect low-income shoppers to buy a €450 bundle at a grocery store when they can get the same bundle on Amazon for €400.(could be due to the beers downed at dinner , dunno).
If you can get these deals online why would you buy any where else.
cripterion seems you get stuck with a bad promotion when you look at the price.

That is really a low minimum... I will say it is minimum 11 million sold. The most crucial bits; we need to now find out how much XB1 has performed in:
South/Central America
Africa
ME
Asia.
Sounds more like people don't want to buy it at supermarkets.Thing is I got word that it was like that in all the supermarkets with this promotion. Sales being bad last weekend, a new promo came in, now it's the PS4/PS TV or PS4/The Order + a Dualshock 4 for 399.

2.3 million more units outside of the Tier 1 countries.
So 29 other markets possibly account for 2.3 million if we go by that 11 million sold-through number.
I don't know, that still seems too high, unless Eastern Europe and/or South America really picked up the slack.
If you look at the numbers for Tier 1 in the table you will see they are dated.... like UK is missing December and you need to add CY2015 from the Tier 1.2.3 million more units outside of the Tier 1 countries.

Math. How does it work?
Ratios can change even if PS4 is selling better.
Milk
Eggs
Chocolate
Next Gen Console
Toilet Paper
Bacon

I saw your edit but I can keep a secret...Don't forget the cheese.
Where are you getting 2.3m from?
I think you forgot to add tier 1 markets for 2014. Also this number is only till end of 2014. Not Q1 2015.
I saw your edit but I can keep a secret...
.
Damn, looked everywhere but Amazon.
Well this is depressing.
Hmmm.
You're a marketing person for a supermarket chain who doesn't know how much competitors are charging for one of the lines you market.
Funny that, because the channel managers I worked with at DSG (Dixons Stores Group - I used to do media buying for them) in the UK got daily price reports about every single product their competitors sold.
Not saying you're lying but you & your company need to raise your game because no-one 'forgets' Amazon.
I would buy that. Espescially if it played the James Bond theme when you ejected a disc.
