Batman Arkham Knight free with new 970/980's

Not very legit according to SteamGAF. No one knows where they source their keys. I've also read they've sold stolen keys in the past for Watch Dogs which Ubisoft disabled, effectively removing them from steam libraries.

If a site selling keys isn't listed here, it's probably not an authorised seller. Building on that, if the site is selling Battle.net keys, then it's definitely not an authorised seller.

glad i didnt make a thread. phew.

Guess what? I just scored both Witcher 3 and Batman for free from Newegg for a Titan X I bought at launch on March 19th. :D

That's why I say there's no harm in trying!

Of course, I'm sure having a history of spending thousands of dollars there every year helped.

From a business perspective, it pays to keep their high worth customers happy.

These codes cost them almost nothing. They'll more than make it up when I buy all the parts for my Skylake build from them later this year.

Nice, you got lucky though. I bought a Titan X just a few days ago, contacted them and they wouldn't budge - said the promo applied to 980/970/960 only. Oh well.

I graciously asked for a Batman code in an Amazon customer service email and they gave me one for my 980 purchase on 4/25. Love it.

Hello [---],

I'd be more than happy to assist you. As a valued customer we'd be more than happy to make the exception and send you a copy of Batman Arkham. I have created COM order number [-----]. Please allow 1-2 business days for the order to process and code emailed.

And I didn't just get Batman, I got Witcher III too! And I ordered my card in September.

Well, that's a massive thumbs-up to Newegg. To be truthful, I was thinking about writing a big post about the whole 970 fiasco, about how Nvidia didn't really do anything for recompense. But it seems like they've put a lot of these codes out there, and that's kind of what I wanted. So I guess I'll keep my mouth shut!

I ended up going back because I was like the only person who failed in this request and felt lonely, and now the activation didn't work and I'm going back and forth with customer service. I really don't think I was meant to have this.

Would getting a 980 be a good upgrade from my 660 ti, or is it worth waiting another year?

From what I've seen just the 970 is around two times more powerful than a 660TI overall, a 980 is something like ~20% more powerful than a 970 but mainly shines at higher resolutions than 1080p... Probably helps that it can use all its VRAM without choking.

Okay I have a question- hypothetically if the support email I've sent to Amazon doesn't end with me getting download codes, is the following situation feasible:

1. I buy another GTX970 off Ebuyer or wherever.
2. Get the code emailed to me.
3. Return the graphics card I bought off Ebuyer to Amazon and get a refund off Amazon.

The serial numbers will be different but will Amazon notice or care? It was difficult enough trying to get the 970 in my computer's small case, it's not coming out.

Or is this legally frowned upon? You would think Amazon would prefer a brand new graphics card get returned than a slightly used one.

From experience working in retail support, most places will verify if the serials match. Its a YMMV type situation.

That's what I did to get a Witcher 3 code.

If only I had waited a month...

Contact them through chat support. I tried email and it didn't work. Chat however was quick and easy.

Did you buy from Amazon originally? Not having these two codes means I'm currently down like £60.

Bought from Amazon due to Prime. Noticed they didn't have W3, spoke to customer services. CS told me that they're not partnered with Nvidia, and couldn't provide a code. Put graphics card in PC to use.

Ordered card from Ebuyer the same day, taking a week to arrive. When it did, I put the Ebuyer card (brand new) in the Amazon box, and sent it back for a refund.

I've now e-mailed Ebuyer asking if they can honour the Batman code, although I'm pushing my luck as my order date was 30/03/15. I don't mind CDKeys so I have it from there for £15, but it's always nice to save money.

Well Amazon Chat wasn't helpful. She told me to order a new card off Amazon.com (I'm in the UK) and send the old one to Amazon.co.uk.

I think I'll just try and order from Ebuyer and hope Amazon don't look at the return too closely.

This seemed like a really good deal until I looked at the price of one of these cards; for $350 they'd better throw in some free goodies! That's a lot of money to spend on one component; I've never spent that much on a video card in my life.

A Zotac 970 is $308 on Amazon. And the cards other than MSI and Gigabyte are around $320-$330. I'm still in anguish over what to buy because a Gigabyte G1 is one inch too big for my mini-ITX case and MSI is out of stock with their bitch asses

I got my Gigabyte 970 for $300 after rebate. They've been going on sale recently.

Mine will be $319.99 after (ugh) rebate for a card that runs circles around what current gen consoles are capable of on top of two major releases being bundled with it. I spent more in total for my two 1GB GTX 460s (first one in May 2011 second about five months later) I think it's a pretty fair price for a card that's two to three times (if not more) more capable than my current SLI set up. Not to mention consuming a good deal less power.

Don't know about the UK but seriously, call them. Chat is like their bottom tier in terms of customer support.

I purchased the 970 on April 27th through Amazon, 2 days later I got the code for The Witcher 3, just found out the new promotion (Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight for free), I tried my luck with an Amazon customer service rep and they told me to wait 2-1 business for the Arkham Knight code!

Woot!

Amazon the best customer service in the world hands down!!

Been trying to look around for a bit on this and can't find anything. Would a 980 be a decent step up from a og Titan. I play at 2560x1600 and with newer games coming out I figure it might be time to retire the Titan, but if the 980 isn't a decent step up I won't worry about it.

i'm giving it a shot. My card arrived on the 24th of April. Let's see what they say.

Just realized my idiocy that the retailer I bought the card from (SuperBiiz) Friday is not a part of the promotion. Don't think I'll bother with doing a return on the card just to buy another again from Newegg.

Trying my luck with my Amazon GTX 970 order (feb/15)

They already gave me 50% on that order (for the 4gb ram thingie) so im not expecting much but will update soon....

UPDATE:

AMAZON: Thanks, XXXXX.
In this case, here's what I am going to do, I am going to forward your order to our Marketing and Promotions Department, so they will help you to receive the game code for Batman: Arkham Knight and witcher 3. You will receive a response from them within 24 hours via email.

Seeing as even newegg is giving up the codes, i think i will most likely get it :D

Think I should bother with Amazon if I got it in December? They didn't give me any discount despite everyone else I know getting one during that VRAM debacle so I'm a little discouraged and I see you guys are doing it for more recent orders.

Anyone have any luck? I got Unity for free with mine at least... :P

Where are these $300 970s? All I'm seeing are the $500 price ranges. I'm looking to get one. I got to get some ram. I sent back my last stack I bought because they weren't compatible.

I got a 660 Ti GTX with an i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67 GHz
I got my standard 6 GB Ram that came with it from DigitalStorm back in 2009/2010. I use to have a Geforce 285 back when those were hot. Not anymore. I bought the 660 from Best Buy.

I want a 970 or a 980. I'm just not sure if I should upgrade yet. I put a SSD on here a couple years ago just for the OS.

Zotac 970 I see is a good deal? I don't want to fork out $600 on a video card at the moment. I'd just build a new PC, which is my goal at the moment.

So the Witcher seems to be strictly a GOG deal? I'd rather have it on Steam, but beggars can't be choosers I guess? still a hell of a promo, I bet they sell a lot of cards.

Amazon and newegg. I would go EVGA personally.

It is, I redeemed mine this morning. It doesn't give you a key though, you have to sign into your Steam account through the nvidia site and it redeems the game directly to your account.

People redeeming batman arkham knight, is the game showing up in your library? I used my code last night and i got a "game can not be redeemed. please contact customer support" error from nvidia. I also noticed that it says my nvidia code was already used after that so i contacted them and after almost a day i got an email back saying that it should work. Well the code works but now I get a "already claimed this promotion" after filling out all the steps. So it says I have the game even though it says I don't. Awesome. Anyone having a similar issue?

I'm having the same problem. The email confirmation I got had the error saying to contact support too and support keeps saying they don't see anything wrong on their end.

TBH, the retailers who are a part of the promotion should probably send out a memo to their CS people and just tell them to give past customers the deal as long as they do have an excess of them. The codes cost them nothing and it's just good PR from a customer relations/loyalty building standpoint.

Also I should probably play through the first two Witcher games that I've had for almost two years from a Steam sale but haven't gotten around to playing outside the first game's introduction.

EDIT: I redeemed the Batman AK code last night before I went to bed, it showed up in my library when I started Steam earlier today.

Did you use the chat for the VRAM issue?

Several have actually, as far back as September from what I've read. You also have grounds for a nice bit of sad customer guilt trip if they turn you down because Amazon. But make sure to call them because from my experience calling is the best method followed by e-mail with chat at the bottom for being the most hit or miss.

Are you in the US? The 980 is in the $500+ range the 970 should be no where near that? O_o You can wait if you want to see what AMD has to offer and if it lives up the hype and the 3XX line doesn't end up being filled with rebadges and where exactly NVIDIA is going since supposedly they're not going to be introducing much this year aside from a Ti or two if the 960Ti talk ends up actually being true though there's been nothing said about it in months where we know a 980TI is incoming. The 660Ti might have bit more life left to it but the 970 is much more capable from what I've read, it's around two times more capable.

If you plan on going above 1080p any time soon the 980 would probably be a better card to go with if you stick with NVIDIA. The 980 is ~20% faster but also doesn't suffer from the gimped chunk of memory. EVGA still does their step up program so there's that to consider if the 980Ti or whatever comes out soonish, not sure what kind of discount that would lead to though.

This promotion lasts until the end of the month so you have a bit of time to decide.

I'm having the same problem. The email confirmation I got had the error saying to contact support too and support keeps saying they don't see anything wrong on their end.

Looking around it doesn't seem to be common but i did find a topic on nvidia's official sites with a few others saying they have the issue as well.

Yeah I'm in the US.
I went to check out prices on the 980 and they were in the 550 range from doing a random search on Google. I see two large ranges here. I haven't shopped around in a while. I'm taking these suggestions to heart. I'm compelled at the moment.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127832 this one looks nice, but it's a 970. I do have some time. I'll need to think about this. I have both games ready to go on PC (prepurchased, but having another copy is a plus), so the promotion would be great either way. I'm always curious when they hand out specific titles with cards because its the card to run it on. The 660 Ti to me was an impulse buy. I don't typically shop for PC parts at Best Buy.

Had a chat with Amazon, rep said they e-mailed marketing and promotions and they'd let me know in 1-2 days. Rep also said there's a good chance I'll get a code since it's only been a few weeks but we'll see about that.

Ok, I'm going to have to get the 970 now. Can sell my 670 for £100 or so. The £100 saving on the games... £70 for the card.

Incredible.

nm, worked now.

bought my 970 in late april and was extremely nice to the CS agent on amazon chat and got my code this morning. Sweet!!!

I bought my 970 last week when it was just witcher 3. I asked and also got a batman code!

Both for sale in the BST thread lol

I gotta say I'm very grateful to neogaf, If I had not read the stories of individuals here trying to get codes from vendors I would've never tried it myself. I am glad I did, New Egg sent me a code for Batman(I also got the Witcher 3, when I got my GTX 970) as courtesy, thanks thread.

Well, I'm not sure how you guys are getting so lucky with Amazon.

Received my 970 on April 28th. Chat with one representative: there's nothing they can do, I can return the item, etc. Eventually, he offers to contact the Marketing and Promotional team so they can send out a new code after now saying that this is an option, suddenly. I say go for it, as that would be totally ideal.

Marketing and Promotion e-mail: there's nothing they can do, I can return the item, etc. They won't send the new promotional code. So I call in. I'm transferred and speak to an actual representative.

Representative: there's nothing they can do, I can return the item, etc.

They won't budge. I know I'm not at all entitled to this promotion and I totally understand the circumstances, but considering how Newegg seems to be knocking these out without any hoops to jump through...

It sucks doubly because this is my first time ever ordering components from Amazon. I've always been a Newegg buyer when it came to parts. If Amazon's customer service isn't going to be as good as Newegg's seems to be, I'm honestly considering returning this to Amazon and buying from Newegg just in case something goes wrong with the card and I have to get in touch with customer service again.

Again, I know I'm not entitled to this and I don't expect to be. I'm just a little salty about the discrepancy in customer service support.
